Yes Colin, it never used to be, but it started a while back and girls are Bat mitzvah'd.
A lot of changes happen without any of us noticing.
AND... just you get on with it Colin. I of course will procrastinate over the price of the GENWEB for 'yonks' before I even decided.... then have another think about it!!
I am dreadful.
Good luck all who need it...me in particular. ha ha ha
Goodnight all,
And I will eventually get the spellings correct....PERHAPS?

The ceremony is the circumcision
for boys, and is called a BRISE...
Spelling may be wrong, as I am great a wrong spellings. ;-0)

there is a coming of age ceremony which is a BAR MITZPHA .
It was for boys only in the olden days, but is now common for girls and would be a BAT MITZPHA

Hi Colin, sorry not able to help you in your search, but hope that you may be able to help me with general advice.

Is there a special 'naming ceremony' for Jewish children.
If so, what is it called and where or how would I be able to find records in the UK.

Sorry to show my ignorance, but I am eager to learn.

Sorry to that some bigots on here were so vile to you.

So pleased that you are back.

Tess

P.S. I will be back this evening.

When was he born? Some army records appear on Ancestry under British Army WWI Service Records, even if they didn't fit in the war.

WOW Colin,
I am searching my Maternal tree which is JEWISH....
You complained about abuse and they threw YOU OUT??
I am so sorry to say that that is the way of the world these days....
See you in about week??? ha ha ha

I had a wonderful find through another well known site.... you know the one.... I found the burial details of my uncle (my mothers brother) and through that I had a look and found my grandfather... that gave me his brother , so another name to add.... and that gave me my G.grandfather whose name I did NOT know.
My excitement knew no bounds....there is no one I did not tell.;-0)
Good luck with your tree and if you find another site to help.... let me know please.
Nice to see you back.

Thank you ladies all
Rambling Rose--Honey bunch
nice to hear from you. Ive always been around, but not
on chat. After the occassion when certain ones were
making vieled insults concerning my Jewish Ancest;
Then when i implied they were natzis, i got thrown off
for a week. Funny thing about justice in this world, if
they could, they would, those with power, hang a murdered
man for getting murdered and feast the man who committed the crime.
