thanks for all your help, have contact g.r. and yes i do have 2 accounts, so have asked them to delete one. special thanks to daf for putting me on the right track. its strange this has never happened before with other contacts. once again thank you all.

If you have had a notification that you have a pm, (GR sends you the e-mail, another member can only pm you, they don't have your-mail address unless you give it to them)
I can't understand why you don't have them in your contacts list if you have had contact with them? Although the site has been undergoing maintenance so anything is possible.

I can only suggest two ways.. one is that you click on inbox (in the messages tab on the bar above) and they should be there if you have had a pm from them.. send them a message, and then see if they appear in your contacts then.

If they don't, then type their name into the search bar under the Genes Reunited log, and then have a look through the names of the people it identifies.

You haven't, by any chance, got a second account that you opened and forgot about, so it is still a *free* account?... I ask, because I had done that in Friends, and when I e-mailed them, they merged the two for me. Just check the account numbers, to be certain.

Have just sent you a pm. Can you check if you can see it in your standard account contacts.

It matters not that they are in Canada, but if they are sending you a message via GR then they must already be a standard member - free members can not initiate messages.

It they are not in your Contacts when you are logged into your standard membership account, it sounds as though you have two accounts - one standard and one free, and they are contacting you through the latter.

i am a subscribing member thats why i don't understand why the messages are not coming through to my message box.

sorry about that, i thought i put it in the wrong place lol.
the message is not showing in my messages. the person e-mailing me has only just joined g.r. so their not in my contacts. they want to view my tree but i cannot give them access.

Rather than access GR from emails, just log into your Standard Account, go to Messages, My Contacts, where you can read your messages with other members and share your tree, if you so wish.

has anyone had this problem, if so how did they sort it.
i'm a standard member but when someone from Canada messages me the only way i know is from an e-mail from g.r.. when i click on read e-mail it opens up g.r. in another box showing me as a free member. the problem i have is i wish to share my tree with this person and it won't allow it as a free member. any help would be most appriciated.
