Thank you all for your help

I did buy a good pair but the clip wouldnt or couldnt open far enough to grip the waist band, I gave them to a charity shop and bought another pair of the button on type.

I dont sew many buttons on, especially for this purpose so I'd guess they have to be sewn firmly.

Hi David,
I know you have already bought some braces, but have you considered clip on ones? They will fit any trousers you have without having to sew buttons on.
Regards,
Mayfield.

In that case you need to put the buttons inside cos will be too bulky ,buttons.braces/belt all going round the middle wont look right

They reason I ask is I would like at times to continue wearing the belt as well, the braces doing the job more than the belt.

the outside, cos if the waistband is a bit on the comfy side then the buttons will dig in
My FIL wore braces and his buttons were on the outside of the waistband

It depends how attractive the buttons are :))

My belt has been uncomfortable for some time, so I'm going to start wearing braces.

Ive bought the braces, and the buttons. Should I sew the buttons on the inside or the outside of the waist band?
