Oh I am the voice of experience. We had Barbary doves visit us. They are white with a dark band around their necks.

First one or two, who welcomed the hand out from OH. Then they brought their families over and so it continued. In the end there were about 23 of them.

OH stopped feeding them. Well it was either that or he would be joining them out in the yard, permanently. As soon as the free meals stopped they left.

Now all I have to bother about are the top notch pigeons and the peewees.

Crash & Hoppy my resident wood pigeons arrived a while ago. They have nested in a conifer that won't take their weight this year, so if they tend to go headfirst into the side & scrawl in-gives visitors something to talk about !

I remember having a thread on here a few years back saying about one of the babies flying in through the window of my sons bedroom.

Lol Aunty. It doesn't work. I have a couple of cats and they still sit on the roof, hiding.

Warning!! warning!! Do not feed them.

It does not matter how cute they look. They are the bait.

They are the advance party put their by their "parents" (who probably never even hatched them).

If you feed them another one will appear, then two more, then half a dozen. Before you know it your garden table, indeed all your outdoor furniture, and the garden, will be filled with billing, cooing, pooping doves; all the them demanding to be fed and then pooping some more!!

You have been warned!!

Here puss, puss, puss!! Look what Aunty has for you!!

You wait til they drive you crackers with their billing and coo-ing. We have lots of them and they never stop. The dove is one bird I hate to listen to I am afraid.

We have had doves here since we moved in. Each year they made a nest in the most inappropriate place and we never saw any offspring.

OH knocked down the perch they were using last year. This morning they appeared on the garden table with two babies. They have left them there for the past 40 minutes...lol

I have taken some lovely photos and am waiting for the parents to reappear. I have no idea where they nested but they still come into our garden quite frequently. At least this year they have been successful with a family.
