1911 Census

Does anyone else feel that it is a bit cheeky of GR to request extra fees from existing members for access to this one census, recently added? I have tried to get through to them that I think it is a bit unfair, when so many of us are already paid up, but all I get is "we have taken an overview and hope you enjoy the site!!" reply. Do GR not understand that I am attempting to protest.

Alison, with respect this subject has been done to death on the boards already....everyone whether here, FMP, 1911 site is having to pay EXTRA to view something which cost an awful lot of money to transcribe.

If I sign up to a company offering a specific service and then they wish to charge more for 'extras' then it is down to me whether to pay up or look elsewhere for what i find reasonable...

in this instance because you don't get the full image anyway on here you're much better off not paying the extra.

What you have to remember its a census that shouldnt by law be released till Jan 2012,,its cost thousands of £s to get its early release. digitised and put on line so that cost has has to be recouped.

Also you can buy credits seperate from a Platium memberrship for 1911 use,

If you only have basic membership like most on here it doesnt cover any records at all...

I heard a little whisper that 1911 maybe included next year on Ancestry but that will by bought extra credits and redirected to one of the main sites who have copyrights,,Brightsolid.

Six months after find my past had had the 1911 census on line, any other site was entitled to apply to transcribe it.

It only £39.95 for a 6month sub on the official 1911 site
