Baby "Drank" Methadone That was the headline on one of todays papers. The baby in question was only two months old. The mother aged 28 is pleading not guilty of wilful ill treatment of the baby claiming It was nae me ma friend gave it to ma baby. It says that the mother did not seek help until the baby became seriously ill and did not tell paramedics or staff at the sick kids hospital in Edinburgh that he had swallowed methadone.

Sickening what some people do to children.

A baby of two months cannot drink, unaided.

Either mother or friend, gave this to this wee mite.

What happened to methadone only being given at a chemist?

And to not let on about what happened?

Wee fella is better off away from his "caring" mother.

The mother was also in court for two failures to appear on previous charges so wether she or the friend gave the baby methadone she is no stranger to brushes with the law.

It is said that most people on methadone take it home at least once a week as no chemists are open on Sundays.

What the.....!
I hope the baby is taken away. What sort of a moron is this woman?
Whoever it was - the child is the mother's responsibility. If the friend was such a malicious idiot she shouldn't have been allowed near the baby.
The mother should have the book thrown at her.

OMG,
I cannot understand the stupidity of people like this.
She's not a mother she's a monster.
No doubt poor little soul will be handed back to her as well.
The baby should be taken into care and adopted by parents who will love and cherish it not abuse it.

There is no excuse for this happening, as LanarkshireLassie said the baby couldn't have taken it unaided.

It makes me so angry that the mother will in all probability get the baby back, and what happens next time?

This is a disgrace but not as uncommon as some may think . When I worked as a hospital emergency department sister it was not unusual to have a child brought in who "had helped themselves to some of my drugs".
What nonsense most were far to young to do so. My opinion is that if people are found guilty of such atrocities they should be sterilised.....I know that some will find this abhorent, but so is having children abused
