If a person you have PM'd through search trees, does not seem to be responding, are there any merits to be gained by contacting them through Friends Reunited.
Many Thanks

Thanks Shirley. I have done it on the off chance.
Getting abit frustrated, because I am dead nosey, and wish they would make contact. I do know there are alot of reasons that people do not answer their PM's immediately, or sometime in the distance. But, I have PM'd four different people re the members of this living family, and I think the chances of them all being on holiday, are abit slim.
Awe well, I will just have to be patient.
Many thanks again

Have they opened your message. This can be checked by looking in at your sent messages. If there is a purple envelope then the contact has not opened it.

As you have said there are many reasons why contacts do not reply, one of the reasons may be that they have not visited the site for a number of years or have lost interest in continuing their family tree.

I tend not to dwell on not receiving any replies I just carry on. I have had someone reply 2 years after the initial letter was sent.

The message showing open doesn't necessarily mean they have opened it. If you delete a message without reading it, it will show in the senders box as open anyway. Just thought I'd point that out. We found that out one night on here and all tried it just to see what would happen, and sure enough it shows opened even though it was deleted unopened.

But thats beside the point. Personally I wouldn't chase them on other sites. I'd leave it well alone and try again in a few months. If then there is no contact, they're not interested either in continuing their family tree, at lest on this site, or in making new contacts.

Hi, I take on board what you have said, and agree with you. Yes, the envelopes are purple, and therefore have not been opened.
I will just have to be patient. LOL

Edit. Have just seen your post TeresaW. I will leave the ball in their court, as we say.
Thanks

It's frustrating though isn't it? I have half a dozen unopened ones in my sent box, but I would love to receive replies to two very important ones I sent over a year ago. I think I'll chase them up.
