Carol contact them and ask them what thread it was - probably a mistake on their behalf. Don't worry about it - not worth it.

Oh Carol, I know what you mean, been there got the tee-shirt, etc, as they say.

Makes you feel as if you have committed a cardinal sin.

Sometimes there is some sort of thread reference on the GR e-mail. But if there isn't, get in touch with them, and ask what they are referring to.

Please try to not be upset too much, and try not to take it to heart.

Carol, don't be upset. It makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't it but I don't understand why you have had that message if you have not posted for a while. Can you remember when you last posted and what the thread was about? That might give you a clue. However, I would just forget it, I had one and also didn't know what they were talking about. They may have got the wrong Carol, or it may be an old thread that was re-jigged and somebody took exception to something you said, it is a very abrupt message but is not like a suspension or anything.

Carol, Yesterday, I received a message from a lady new to the boards, who like yourself has received an 'abuse' notification...she has barely posted! I think there is a glitch in GRs 'system' AGAIN! and these are going out randomly....

please do not worry :))

Does the abuse message have a 'thread number and title at the top? if so try and look back at it.

It says this Genes Reunited - Abusive Post Report (Re: Penfriend)

I remember a thread recently, possibly in the last 7 days, with the word Penfriend in the header. I have looked on Advanced Search, but do not seem to be able to find it. Is it possible that you posted on this thread Carol.

I remember what I did now, someone posted that they were looking for an old friend who had lived in USA, and I told them that I had found someone of the same nameon Zaba Search living in NY but didn't know if it was the person they were looking for!

Perhaps someone tried to add to the thread after your post, and hit the wrong button?

Hi Just adv search that ' re penfriend' it is coming up with the last post deleted...however I remember that it was duplicated on another board! as i added myself that someone of the name was showing on face book also...

Try not to take it to heart, Carol... reading through, it sounds to me like someone was asking about a living person... you answered with details of where a person of that name could be found on another site... and as *living name* posts are actually against terms and conditions (I know, I know, loads of people do it... but if it isn't reported they get away with it)

It could be that someone reported because you used a living persons name... or a relative/friend/even the person themselves took exception to see their family name on another site... or whatever... but as I and others, have said,please don't take it to heart.

Carol, I have never had one of these messages.... but then.. never say never... I'm sure that it must be some sort of mistake and you really should ask about it.

I have seen many really *not nice* things printed on GR, and no one seems to even see them.
