Maybe I'm wrong,I don't know about weddings, but I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that baptisms on Christmas Day were free-the clergyman didn't have to be paid-so that was why a lot of baptisms were
performed on that day.

My husband's grandmother got married on Christmas Day , in 1909, and one of my uncles married Christmas Day 1936.

my parents married Christmas day too in 1929 .again it was because it was a day that people didnt have to work and the church was decorated for Christmas too so made it more special.

For "Ag Labs", Chistmas day was the only day they had off work.

Made sense I suppose.

While researching my family tree I have come across 4 couples who tied the knot on Christmas day -all late 1800's-.
Is this simply because it would have been a day off work and therefore easier for all to attend?

Bit of a random question I know but I'm just curious.
