Oh dear Island maybe you have been favouring your left side while the right side healed and it just needs a rest. Hope it soon feels better.
I don't think I can get the peonies to be supported now so they are going to have to flower as they are, Maybe that will be an excuse to pick them and have them indoors, or some of them anyway. They are definitely taller this year as I have checked a photo of previous years. It is quite an old plant, It was in my parents garden and we moved it when we sold dad's bungalow when he went into a home in about 1997. So has been in our garden 24 years.
Mandy you have the same weather as us. very windy and cloudy but 21 degrees here. and, despite the wind it still seems humid. I think the new cases will very likely be among the students and young people who are not sticking to the social distancing. It is also good to hear that the double jab does give very good protection.

Afternoon all,
Quite breezy here today but still really warm out even though its cloudy and not that sunny.
Oh Ann I see you've had or should I say OH has had a bit of an accident with of your favourite vases is it beyond repair or do you think it could be saved. How is OH's head not to sore i hope after that knock . Hope they can get all the new glass in today for you ,you'll need the window cleaner then to get rid of the finger marks
Mel it sounds as if the mower is coming along nicely, OH will be out mowing when its all done . Oh the naughty deers eating all the plants again
Vera you must have been over the moon to have that time with your granddaughter, hope you've managed to get your voice back after all the catching up you had to do .
Anng thats not good with all the rising cases your way ,all you can do is still keep away from any crowded places ,with having the two jabs its protected you but there's still some who are refusing to have the jab which means it will be around for ever at this rate .
Oh Island you poor thing one side gets a little easier and then you get pain the other side ,hope it soon feels better.
Frank hope the headache has eased for you.
We had a trip to the tip today to get rid of some garden rubbish it was quiet when we first got there but by the time we had finished it was really busy. We then called and got a bag of dog food from Mole Valley ,we got a different one this time ,Max is not keen you should have seen his face he looked at me as if to say what on earth is this your giving me its a lighter food as the vet said he could do with losing a bit of weight, at the moment he still has some in his bowl but usually he clears the bowl.

arrghh!!! my eye sight :-| I read 'I have had to try and tie my people up...' it took me a while to fathom what Anng meant. At first I thought it was family tree but it was a peonie. Ours is just coming into bud - a sign of rain usually.
No sooner had my right side ribs stopped aching I now seem to have done some damage to my left side - with very little/ no effort. Not happy :-| :-( I give up.
Hi all, hope you are all ok.

Just actually driven my car round to the post office, needed to draw some money as well. So at least it has been run this week.
I have had to try and tie my peonie up, it is really tall this year, not sure how T used to support it but it is going to have to stay as it is at the moment, so many buds on it too.

Morning Vera and Anng and all,
Very humid here today and grey sky with it but some bright patches. Oh is out puddling about with the mower and its looking more like the mower I know now instead of a skelliton up onthe ramp.
I need to get up the wall today and tie in two roses as one thats hanging forward has been eaten by you know who but the bit thats up the wall still has a beautiful pink rose on it.

Good morning AnnG and all
Very overcast and “heavy” at the moment and it is already 19 degrees. OH has gone out for his walk before it gets too hot.
The Covid report from your area is not good news AnnG, but the jabs do seem to be offering a lot of protection. I am sure you will be fine if you continue with your normal level of caution. We have been lucky so far in this area. I checked a little while ago and the latest figures I could find were for the week 31st May to 6th June and in that week there were 4 new cases. There were no cases in our local hospital which covers a very wide area.
I had a better night and have been up for ages but I haven’t dressed or had breakfast yet so I’d better do that now.

Good morning all, Grey here at the moment, cloudy 16 degrees and dry so far.
This is not good:-
Another 50 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Gloucestershire today, as the infection rate remains the highest in the South West.
According to the latest government data, every area in Gloucestershire recorded a rise in Covid cases.
Cheltenham saw 15 new cases, closely followed by Gloucester's 11. This puts Gloucester’s total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic at 6,603. Meanwhile, Tewkesbury recorded seven new cases, Forest of Dean and Cotswold saw six and Stroud reported five.
This city's Covid rate per 100,000 people is 59.6 after 77 cases were confirmed between May 29 to June 5. This is higher than the national average of 50.3, and significantly above the South West's 18.3.
As of June 8, Government figures show seven Covid patients were being cared for at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS - and one is battling on a ventilator.
Guess I have to continue to stay away from town.
However the odds are good Having two vaccinations slashes the chances of getting Covid to just one in 22,500, it was revealed yesterday.
Those who are fully vaccinated are three times less likely than those who have had only had one dose of the jab, according to a study.
The risk of catching Covid rises to one in 2,908 in those who are unvaccinated
So maybe it is ok to go to town. But I am not going today. will soon though

Knees fine now thank you Vera and we got the part for the mower and he's put it on and the paint had dried so we got the top back on the mower. Now he has to fit all the wires back on and the peddles. I hope the thing works now as the grass is growing like billyo.
It must have made your day to have thoses hugs from your granddaughter and a good natter too I expect. A 50 mile round trrip is'nt so much to the younger ones.
Its been a dull cloudy day all day with that very fine mist like rain in the air its been like living in a cloud.
I tied up three clematis and my sweet peas and thats about all really. I made the sheep sh*t pie for dinner with a nice bit of spring greens. There was veg in with the meat too and now I feel very full.
My pc is all over the place at the moment its all changed and I don't know how to get it back like I want it. Its something to do with Firefox.

You were a very early bird this morning Ann! I could have joined you in a conversation as I was awake from 1 am till turned 5 again, and then up at 7.30 am. What a chapter of accidents your poor OH had yesterday. I hope he suffered no ill effects from the bump on the head and what a shame about your Chinese vase. Is it in many pieces? If it isn’t smashed to smithereens could you get it repaired by someone knowledgeable about these things? It won’t be quite the same but perhaps someone who knows what they are doing could make a decent job of it. In one of our house moves a very fine porcelain Japanese cup got broken and an antique dealer friend of my brother repaired it beautifully for me (and at no charge, which was a bonus). I hope your window fitting goes well tomorrow. AnnG’s post suggests you have emailed a painting round. I haven’t looked at my emails since this morning so haven’t seen it yet but I shall check them as soon as I have finished this post.
I hope your headache is better Frank. It could well be the humid weather causing it. Make sure you stay hydrated.
The weather today has been a bit more comfortable here than the forecast suggested. It hasn’t been quite as hot as yesterday and it’s been cloudy with the occasional sunny spell. In fact around 5.30 this evening the breeze started to get quite chilly and we had to come in from sitting in the garden.
Did the weather stop OH getting the mower painted Mel? Did you cook a dinner tonight? We were supposed to be having meat pie (shop bought) and veg last night but it was so hot and I was so tired that I couldn’t face cooking and eating a meal so we had a tuna salad sandwich. However the pie was “Use By” today so we had to have it tonight. It was OK but I feel a bit overfull now. By the way, I hope your twingy (is that a word) knee is not giving you much pain.
I hope everyone who hasn’t posted recently is OK. Has anyone seen Elizabeth around recently?
After another bad night with very little sleep I was a bit grumpy this morning and faffed about with one little job and another but I have had the best afternoon I can remember for a long time. For the first time since the first lockdown everything seemed almost normal. I think I told you that my granddaughter had been given an appointment to give blood at the Centre 2 minutes away from us. It was a 50 mile round trip for her but she accepted the appointment as she could visit us at the same time. Her appointment was 1.35 pm and she arrived at ours about 1 o’clock. Just to be able to have a hug made my day. We chatted till 1.30 when she went for her appointment. As it was her first session it took a long while so she wasn’t back till after 3 pm but stayed till 6.30. She is currently filling in between projects by working in a baker’s and she arrived with a freshly baked loaf of wholemeal soda bread and 3 enormous triangles of shortbread. We set the world to rights and talked and laughed so much that my voice is now quite croaky. Another hug when she left set the seal on a perfect afternoon.
I feel very tired now so I am going to check my emails, make a cup of tea and have a quiet read. Sleep well everyone.

Yes, it could be the heat Frank, although it's been a slight breeze here today and not as hot. Make sure you are drinking enough too.
We are all ready for tomorrow now but I have only just noticed that the man quoted for 7 windows not 8. I'd marked them all with masking tape as well. He may have to order that one and fit it later. Hopefully the fitting won't take long and we plan a relaxing day tomorrow. OH has been through a lot of his T shirts and thrown quite a few out. I couldn't help but notice he has a stash of books in his wardrobes as well now!! I think it really is time he got rid of some so where are the thumbscrews!
We had a quick look at the obits as we thumbed through the local paper at lunchtime. One was the name of my old neighbour for years at my previous house. I'm sure it was him as he had an uncommon surname and had died at a nursing home down south and I remember him moving to a house there with his wife to be nearer his daughter. I remember he had retired 2-3 years after I moved in and OH calculated that would fit with him reaching age 65. He was age 107 when he died!!!!

Afternoon AnnG and Mel,
We had a panic this morning when a big white box van pulled up outside our bungalow. I quickly roused OH as I thought the bed had arrived and they hadn't rung us beforehand. It turned out to be something for Mrs O opposite, Phew! We got up and showered anyway as we were wide awake by then. The bed is here and made up now but new mattresses are so heavy these days we are exhausted. The fitted sheets don't fit as the mattress is deeper so I need to order new ones.
Yes AnnG, I had thought about getting the vase valued as you never know do you. I still have the base with the chinese maker's squiggles on it and a side of the vase with one of the ladies in relief so I could still try and do that to at least find out if it had any value. I must look online to see if I can find any maker's marks that match. I think OH is worried it might be MING!! lol. That is nice you have a new companion in the same situation as you will understand each other.
I have started clearing the window sills where the glass will be fitted tomorrow. I don't think we have ever had so much stuff lying around in boxes! I'm having lunch before I finish it though as we are both starving now.
I like my cabbage too Mel, but we are having something quick today, Maybe fish with mash and cabbage and other veg tomorrow. :-D My toms have flowers at last and I spotted some on the runners yesterday.
