good morning all, Nobody around yet then? I seemed to have a very disturbed night, kept waking and finally got up at 0715.
Sun is shining and apparently no overnight rain but it doesn't look very settled out there. Not doing anything much today.

Iv'e dead head my Albetine rose this afternoon and got so hot I had to take my coat off also more of the dead Clematis flowers and the violas in pots ont he patio and the Osteospermum. Suns been out most of the afternoon after the heavy rain this morning.

Shame the rain is'nt good for the flowers ont he roses. They're all hanging their heads.
Did'nt get up the border and feel quite tired now.

Repotted a heachera too.

sorry you had a migraine Vera, maybe it was the weather if it was like ours, quite humid and 'close'. today we have had heavy showers interspersed with brilliant sun in short spells. But the sun has been shining a while now and when out it is very hot although the temp is only 17 degrees. I have managed to get down to the greenhouse wo water the plants in there but it is much too wet underfoot and in all the plants to dead head so the roses will have to wait until tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Jul 2021 15:59

Sorry to hear you had another migraine Vera and hope you get a few zzzzz's in tonight to make you feel better tomorrow.

Guess what the suns come out so I am off up the border to dosome badly needed dead heading.

I managed to iron three things this morning and found that the iron had packed up so I got the spare out but it is so heavy and small and makes a noise when run over the clothes so I stopped. Oh has had a look for parts for the iron but can't find any parts with our ones serial number. So it looks like I may need a new iron. I don't want one of these steam thingys with the great big base because I don't use a steam iron. my old one is'nt very pointy and dos'nt have the slot to go around buttons.

Pretty flowers in your toms Mandy but I hadn’t a clue what they are. Good job Mel and some of the others know

We’ve had showers and sunshine all morning but a little while ago we had a real cloudburst. We won’t need to water any pots tonight.

I had a bad headache all day yesterday and by the time I went to bed it had turned into a migraine. I found it too painful to lay down so sat up most of the night. As I’ve got older the migraines have improved a lot so I’m.not knocked out for several days anymore but I’m still a bit like a zombie in dark glasses at the moment so I’m not going to look at the screen anymore today.

I hope you are all having a nice day

I should have said that in return T was able to get Sky sports from Daughter's TV on his Ipad.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 4 Jul 2021 12:22

At the moment paying for it by choice. When we checked with Virgin it didn’t make a lot of difference and T had it so Daughter’s OH can get it on his IPad to save him paying Sky for it. Will keep an eye on it though. (BT sport)
Tesco just arrived so better get it sorted now.

I thought we had talked about schizanthus this year and I said the same about grandad grwing them when I was young. He always gave mum some which she had in the greenhouse. If anybody saw The Victorian Walled Garden on the telly years ago they had them in the greenhouse there but really tall ones.

Morning All,

I just replied the same to Mandy Mel. I wonder how they got there?

Oh I should have realised it was 'dog' Mandy! These computers change what we put anyway which is annoying. That's really good that Lacey is so far ahead with her reading. I used to love the Diana Pullen Thompson pony books (no surprise there!) Heidi, What Katy Did and of course Black Beauty.

I was still awake at 5.00am so am in zombie land this morning. :-S Some good news though, I won three £25 prizes on premium bonds so £75 better off. :-D

Better get showered now before lunch arrives. It seems to arrive a little later each time. Then it's the wipe down this afternoon so that's most of the day gone. I want to see if I can get the wii set up as well but just know OH will make a fuss as he doesn't want anything touching now the tv and SKY are working ok

Just a thought AnnG, are you still paying for BT Sports if you don't need it? It isn't cheap.

Thank you Mel I put Poormans orchard seeds in but when the greenhouse went over in the wind and the soil went everywhere obviously went into the pot with the toms .
I'm definitely putting them in again next year as they are so pretty

Its always so surprising what comes out of a shed. I know when oh bulit me my new shed much much bigger than mums old one I could'nt believe what came out of the small one.

Its relly chicking it down here now and my flkat roof is leaking again. I shall have to get someone to come and see to it as oh only did a repair on it and its been ok all winter but I suppose with the hot weather the bitumen has melted away.

Race today at 2pm so I think I will go and do some ironing.

Morning Anng and all,

Been raining here mstof the night I think as it was when I went to bed and is still rianing now and everywhere looks very wet indeed. I must say though that the tree are looking nice and green though so it helped them and the grass.

I had a good night and went ff to bed at 12.30am so a little earlier for me.

I nev er read as a child. My dad would read to me when I was young but I never really read books just comics. We have to read at least 10 books a year at school and were then tested on them. My score was 2 out of 100 as my best friend had told me a bit about one of them. The one I remember we had to read was King Solomons Mines, why I remember that title I don't know but maybe thats where my answers came from for my two points.

My son on the other hand read kike crazey and read fluently in infants school.

Good morning all.looks as tthough we had rain overnight so no outside watering this morning.Might have been quite heavy though as the baskets are looking bedraggled, petunias don't like rain. I am glad I put the most exposed one in the greenhouse.

Tesco delivery today but not until 12-1pm.

Ann That does annoy me when theey don't see the bell. The last time a delivery man knocked instead of ringing I nearly fell out of my chair he knocked so loud I wondered what on earth it was. the window cleaner did the same as well.

Gosh you did well with all those books between you Mandy. 5 for a pound was good value, maybe they know there are not many readers among the parents. good that the children read, all our grandchildren read as do the Great grandchildren even though the eldest is only 7. It is so good for them. I wonder how much reading time has been gained or lost through the lockdowns? Depends on the parents doesn't it?
Strangely my parents read but were not great readers but from a very young age I always loved to read. and T never read anything except technical magazines and the occasional newspaper but I continued to read of course. Both our children always read a lot. However, I do think the internet killed off reading for some families as entertainment.

It sounds like you all found some books then Mandy! Yes, OH would have made a beeline to them and not looked at anything else!! lol :-D It's good the children enjoy reading and that Lewis surprised you with how good he's getting. It sounds like they will have done well raising some money but what is name the fog? It's good the rain held off till they were almost done too. I hope your back soon recovers. I had a bad back a couple of days ago and could hardly turn over in bed. Then I remembered I'd copied some of the arm swinging side to side exercises on the morning programme with Gethin And Jeanette Manrara. That will teach me!

Gosh Mel you wouldn't think those Harvesters would tackle the big house spiders would you! They seem very brave. That was a strange dream you had last night.

I had an email to say they had a problem delivering some plants I ordered this afternoon. They say they called at 12.54pm which is when we were sitting in the conservatory with the kitchen door open and the doorbell is plugged in right next to the door. Some delivery people just knock on the door though and don't seem to see the doorbell. I need to paint it a bright colour I think. I hope they don't leave them till Monday now in all the heat. :-S

OMG fireworks are going off..........any reason now, obviously the footie win!

Anng it was advertised in the tele book for 9.30 but if the tennis was running late they probably took it off .

Had a nice trip over to the school sale ,we went to the book stall first ,I got five paper backs for a pound, the girls had five each and Lewis had the thin type books which were ten for a pound ,they all love reading when we got back they got the books out ,Lacey read twenty four pages and Katie read twelve ,
Lewis got a Beano joke book and he was reading the jokes out he's getting very good and was reading quite long words its been a while since I've heard him read so I was very surprised how he has come on .
Ann I thought of OH when I saw all the books :-D
I had four tickets on the tombola and won a jar of marmalade and some bubble bath which I gave to the girls as I only shower .
There was a toy stall ,clothing stall, bric-a-brac stall ,raffle and tombola ,all well spaced out on the playground and so many in at a time ,so when we came out they then let more in .
I messaged son and they had nearly cleared up just as the rain came down he said the
cake stall and name the fog stall raised about 95 pound between them but he didn't know the total raised
Suns out now and my side is now painful I think its from reaching up doing the dead heading of the roses yesterday.

I think GW was on BBC4 last night though I might be wrong about that. It’s certainly available on iPlayer for the next 11 months.
