<3 Happy birthday AnnG <3
It's looks like you were treated like royalty with that beautiful lunch yesterday.
Funnily enough that quote came up yesterday on a FB veg growers group which I belong to. :-D

Mel, it's not my plan to make green tomato chutney but if blight strikes those toms will be whipped off the plants, ripe or not. It's a bit concerning.

Have a good day all

Your birthday treat looked very good Anng and I am sure you enjoyed every bit of it.

It seems to me that if I take the pills after eating they don't work. I took some more after going up the hsop for some fresh ones and they worked ok.

Just seen this on face book. ‘One minute you are hip and carefree, the next you are photographing vegetables in your garden’. So true!

Thanks Vera and I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Ann yes sorry Wadesdon Manor, built by the Rothschild family. An interesting and slightly bonkers building. Every time you look you see something else odd. We didn’t go in the house, left that to next time. Yes took photos.

Afternoon All,

Well I slept well once I nodded off after 2.30am but we decided to visit the farm shop at opening time tomorrow as we were tired this morning. We had a chicken, bacon and leek pie for lunch with our own courgette and runners and some small sweetcorn and cabbage. We picked some more cues (5) but the plants are still looking flopped and sorry, so if they don't pick up in a few days OH will either cut them right back or hoof them out. I have about a dozen to eat in the fridge now. I saw a tip on line where someone was brushing egg white onto a whole cue to make it keep longer. Has anyone tried this?

Just been paying all my bills before my bank switch and making notes who to advise. OH is studying the 70 pages of some council work he has to do.

Crikey Mel, Ed's brother is tall isn't he! How is Ed now after that accident? Hopefully fully better. Sorry you are still getting gyp. These things do seem worse as the day wears on but a few minutes sit down can help. Did you get some eggs that weren't broken today?

That sounds like a lovely and interesting meal AnnG. It's the sort of thing that Fitz would have when I went out with him and Jane. Was it Waddesdon Manor you went to? I haven't been there yet but it looks a magnificent old building. I hope you are taking a few photos for us to see! :-D

Island that was a large courgette and I am definately getting Sunflower seed next year!

A busy and slightly difficult week and I'm shattered now and cooking dinner so no time to write much. I just wanted to say thanks for the various photos emailed around. I hope all of you in pain start to feel better very soon and, in case I don't manage to come on tomorrow:

Good afternoon all, sorry been out all day. Daughter in law took me to Wadeston house. Photos after I get home of the house.

Jay surprised me At Wadeston House with a birthday afternoon tea. It was beautifully done and although each bit was small the tastes were wonderful the salmon was cured in gin with cucumber gel, the green square was pea mousse, so delicate and full of flavour ,the round tart was gruyere cheese, courgette and fennel then there was ham and cheese croissant and the tiny egg and cress roll and the round white one was goats cheese curd with black olive pesto we drank white tea. We must have sat there for two hours eating and chatting. I will send photos of the food.

Your tom looks very tasty Island I said give them a little longer. They willo ripen quickly once they start and don't pick them straight away as they will help others ripen.

I have just picked 4 oz short beans for dinner tonight with a sheep sh*t pie.

Morning all,

Dull and cloudy here at the moment and I am not sure what it is going to be like today may have a few showers. Quite chilly too.

Slept really well but I did take para's just before bed. I can feel its going to be another painful day and I shall be on the pills again.
I had no eggs yesterday so am expecting some today and I hope they arenot broken ones.

Met Em and Ed and his brother and family at the chippy yesterday and felt very small talking to his brother who is 6' 7".

Island Report 12 Aug 2021 08:44

Morning all

Nice and sunny here :-D

You were up late Mel, I hope you've had a good sleep.
The walker sounds just the job for inspecting your estate and being able to have a sit down when you like without having to carry a chair.
I think Argoose and Sainsburys have been merged a while as Argos online orders have been collect from Sainsburys since before lockdown at least.

I hope our poorly people are feeling much better this morning.

Annx, what is wrong with some people indeed! Why do some not see plenty of space? :-S As for gory talk! I would have had to say something I'm afraid. It's the same in hospital waiting rooms - there's always someone who has to strike up conversation with anyone and regale them with the details of their last op - loudly!
One time when I was waiting for a blood test the woman who plonked herself next to me started going on about her last 'proceedya' :-0 :-S

Anng, it has been quiet on chat for sometime, I judge it by how many of 'Merseys' daily threads are on the front page, sometimes four! I do think though that the last week or two has been particularly quiet - I've found the site slow, others may be on holiday? bored with some elements?

My 'marrow' was a courgette, a bit fat I must say. I wonder what I'll find today?

Argos and Sainsbury have merged so my driver told me this week.

Annx Report 11 Aug 2021 19:20

Afternoon All,

We were up early this morning and were at the quiet garden centre at opening time where there is The Works . None of the wooden paint yourself Christmas box things I wanted to see are in the shops yet, so I think I will order online. As there was no-one around the cafe was empty, so we had a breakfast. All the staff had screens up and were wearing masks. A lot of tables had been cleared out and we sat the furthest away and on a table for four that was tucked in a corner. By the time our breakfast was served, in came a group of 4 pensioners and despite the place being empty apart from us, guess where they came to sit...........on the table next to us to loudly discuss details of a gory medical operation!!! Why do people do that when there is so much choice of where else to sit, especially in these times when it is wise to reduce risk by keeping well apart when you can? We soon polished off our food and left and won't be going back there for the foreseeable!

Then I started the notifications for those who would need my new bank details. GR say on site that they don't save card details and you can't change them till 2 weeks before your renewal, so I couldn't do that one. Then I tried a company I have had various savings with for about 30 years! I tried doing it online, but I couldn't see where I could delete the old bank account so rang them. I was put through to someone whe said it would be quicker for him to help as each of the 5 accounts I have would have to be changed seperately, but at least that is all done now. I'd had enough by then!

AnnG I have never had a manicure in my life, but it must be nice to go out with nice nails afterwards. You have had a good day by the sound of it, if very tiring. One of my friends, an ex headteacher, supports students with dyslexia with their courses. She said her students have trouble knowing how to go about presenting their work and she gives them ideas to help them. She loves the work and says the students she sees are so keen to do well it is very rewarding.

Mandy OH is watching footie he wanted to see on tv instead of going out after all. His friend wouldn't have been at this one as there is nowhere to sit! There's a slight chance he may have met someone else he knows though, but not many go to these poorly attended games! Yes it's nice to have a break from all the noise almost opposite, but last night we couldn't help but notice a new big street light thing with 3 powerful dazzlingly bright lamps has been put in the front garden! What with the neighbour in the corner putting wall lights and a tall lamp in the front garden (not too powerful), Mrs O getting wall lights in addition to shining their security light in our bedroom window as well as the big van headlights now the van is parked facing us, and the asian family putting lights all around their house at 2 foot intervals, plus a floodlight now where they sit in the drive I wonder why they all came to live down the bottom of a close that was secluded! Roll on me getting the blackout blinds put up!

Yes the dog next door starts as soon as he is let out and never stops till he goes inside again. He's quite old now, about 10 and huffs and puffs as he trots about, but his barks are just as loud so he has good lungs and also good hearing still! She still goes to her daughter's twice a week I think and usually takes him with her, but if she shuts him in he still barks all the time till she gets back. We've never heard her tell him to stop it though, so it isn't surprising and he must be so anxious when he can't be with her.

That's good you are feeling a bit better now. Yes, it's sensible to be careful what you have to eat and drink for a bit isn't it. I must have a look on the Argos site as I didn't know they sell Sainsbury's clothes either. Thank you for mentioning it

Island your marrow looks nice and healthy and I bet it made a tasty meal. :-D

Evening all ,

Mel that walker with the seat will be very handy for you it will take the strain from your hips ,Colin has one in the shed his sister wanted another one and asked if he wanted to buy this one she had o ly had it a couple of years and it had only been used in the house .

Ann I think OHdid the right thing not mixing with his footie chum last night it sounds like he's not bothered about keeping distances, let's hope he's not at the same match as OH tonight .
Thats good the banging over the road as eased up at least you can have a bit of a lay in mornings, is the dog still noisy near the fence .

Anng sounds ds as if you've had a nice day with a manicure and a bit of shopping , I've never had a manicure ,I must say my nails are much better now than they use to be they use to be so soft and I could never grow them now for some reason they are much stronger and I have to cut them sometimes.

I feel better today, still being careful what I eat though and only having water ,I think tomorrow I will try eating a bit more .

Island someone worked hard on the little lizard didn't they ,not sure I'd want to do one though not keen on them .

Oh Anng I posted your birthday card today ss i haven't been out so hopefully it will be there by the time you get home .

I didn't realise that you could buy sainsbury clothing from argos until DIL told me ,got Colin two pairs of shorts half price and DIL got some lovely all in one top and shorts from there and a dress all half price .

Hope Frank and Gill are OK
