Good morning all. Grey/white sky and 11 degrees. same as yesterday. the sun did finally come out yesterday but was quite weak, still it was bright. Still having to water plants which is a nuisance but no doubt once the rain returns it won't know when to stop.

Annx the tomatoes still have quite a few green ones on them and now look very naked without a lot of their leaves. Hopefully if we get a couple of sunny days they will ripen.
Good that your lunch was a better size. No doubt that means some people will be complaining that theirs has shrunk.
Yes I got a lot done. My ankle was not like a sprain, the pain was round my foot where it bends for the ankle so I think I must have placed it awkwardly when moving the mower in or out of the shed. It is not over heavy but just a bit awkward. Seems Ok this morning so far.

Afternoon All,

Slept well and would have had a nice lie in, well would have done if there hadn't been loud voices and lots of car door banging at the new house at the bottom at 7.30am! Even OH said what happened to this being a quiet little close.

Lunch came on time and they seem to have got the hang of the portion sizes now and they are just right. :-) It is 6 years today since MIL passed away. We can't believe how fast the time passes. The food drop and wipe down were done in half an hour. Lots of things out of stock and still about 5 subs after me replacing the things out of stock. After you have ordered red onions why do they send more onions as subs for leeks? We'll be looking like onions a this rate. Still, at least they keep well. Not much wiping today, just the fridge stuff. I have started ordering things like chocolates and schloer for christmas so we'll at least have some treats at christmas if there are worse shortages by then.

I hope you are feeling a bit better now Island. RA is not nice and causes a lot of pain. Fancy them running out of such basic things as bottles! Glad you liked my little painting. I had a chuckle about it last night as I put it and the photo on FB and tagged the person who took it to ask the name of the bird. Well he said it was a lovely painting, but he had never seen one let alone got a photo of one!! lol. He said he'd love to see me to do one of his though! So that's me making a boob again! OH laughed his head off when I told him. :-D He also said the same as you about the art teacher we did the fairies with. :-)

You have been busy in the garden today AnnG. I wonder what happened with your ankle? A good sign if it was ok in the garden though. I do that with the tomato leaves to let any sun in. The bottom leaves get tatty this time of the year anyway. I finished cleaning the shower doors in the ensuite this morning and the mirror and cleaned a few scuffs off the conservatory walls.

You got a lot done in the garden AnnG. Of course you are right about Frank’s travels. Goodness knows where I got 10th from :-S. I think I am definitely going doolally!

AnninGlos Report 29 Aug 2021 13:53

Hope it is all ready on time Vera.

No it is the other ankle/foot but it seems a bit easier now and was not painful when out in the garden. I spent over two and ha half hours out there, clearing the new bed out the front and planting the 6 plants I bought plus a small heuchera T grew on from a cutting.
the I started to trim the very large lavender out there and cutting back some branches that went out over the pavement when it flowered this year. a buggy could just get by unless somebody parked there with two wheels on the kerb. I shall have to finish that job tomorrow I was too tired to do any more today. Still what I did was very satisfying. Oh I also cut the leaves off the tomatoes so the remaining green ones can ripen easier. (Monty told me to).

Frank goes to Devon today and flies to Spain Tuesday and comes home 18th September as far as I can see from his last post.

Overcast and just a bit breezy but not too cold here.

Mandy, Mr & Mrs Scarecrow are wonderful. You do have some good ideas. All the extra bits like the spider make it different and special. I hope you win.

Sorry to hear you have been in a lot of pain Island; ra is such a horrid disease. I’m sending you lots of positive vibes <3

Mel, I don’t think Frank was going for a few days yet though I haven’t looked back to check. I am sure he said a date in September - was it the 10th? Don’t overdo it in the garden and crock yourself up again. Have an easy day.

You take it easy too AnnG until your ankle feels better. Is it the same one that you hurt once before?

OH didn’t sleep quite so well last night but said his shoulders and arms aren’t too bad this morning so he’s had a good sweep up round all the paving in the garden and out the front. The garden paving is in sore need of a good clean up as OH hasn’t been able to do it this year. He doesn’t like pressure washing but I’ll have to persuade him to get someone in I think.

Better get on with cooking our dinner or it won’t be ready when I want it at 2 pm. I’ve got a small gammon joint in the oven but I need to get on with the veg.

Morning Anng and all,

Bit achey after yesterday up the border but will work through it if I can. We have sunshine so I'll send it up to you Anng. Its 13 degrees here. Blue sky as far as the eye can see.

Can anyone remember when Frank is going away? I suppose I can go back and see if he said?

Woken up with another gnat bite on the inside of the top of my leg and its itching like crazy.

Good morning all, no sun here at the moment, grey sky 11 degrees and looking very autumnal. Weather forecast promised some sun so I hope they are right. I have plants to put in.
I slept well last night from 11pm until around 6am and didn't get up for the loo. Probably because I had a bad night Friday night.
Ankle is still not right so I will have to go easy with it today. Not easy when gardening.

Sorry you have been in pain Island, so inconvenient the lack of foresight about the blood test tubes.

I mowed the lawn and did the edges, pulled up a few seeds and generally tidied around, noticed lots more that needed doing but was too tired and back was playing up. Also I managed to hurt my left foot//ankle so it was hurting me to walk. So I watered the pots, picked more tomatoes and came indoors.

Sorry to hear you've not been to good Island ,those big hooks I think came from the Pound shop but it was a few years ago now, they are brilliant for hanging the garden tools on .
You've been busy Mel you've earned your G&T :-D

Lovely sunny evening here but just that bit to chilly to sit out

Sorry to hear you've not been too good this week Island. I think they blame everything on corvid lately its the easy way out for soemone forgetting to order things. Glad you liked the spooky moon. Oh told me it was there and to get the camera.

Done a bit more up the border just deadheading and I did manage to get one wire up for the climbing rose so that was good. Another barrow load to go over the bonfire but I left it up the border as oh told me to come down for a G & T so I did.

Island Report 28 Aug 2021 17:25

Hi all

I haven't posted this week as I have been in a lot of pain and drowsy from codeine and ibuprofen. I was due to have a blood test on next Wednesday re my ra and finally coming off steroids (which needs weekly bloods initially) but now there is a 'global' blood bottle shortage so that's set back again. How could they not have known stocks were so so low!!! Blaming covid of course. This is going to badly affect a lot of people.

Actually, I just wanted to say how fab Mandy's scarecrow pair are, what a lot of creative art.
I noticed the tidy garden tools too and wonder where those great hooks come from?

Lovely veg and little bird painting Annx. I looked up the teacher and have to say I think your work is much better.

Mel's day moon is spookily lovely.

I'm pleased with them ,the girls liked the mice going up his leg and the caterpillar.
I think I like the snails I've put them so the last one is going the wrong way and the one in front is looking back to see where he's going lol :-D
I had trouble holding the nest on withe the eggs and bird in it made it a bit heavy but its glued and stitched so fingers crossed it holds on .
I liked all the butterflies too.

He has a spider hanging from his arm ,on the left as you look at him .

Annx Report 28 Aug 2021 14:46

Oh I've just seen them Mandy and think they are so good, brilliant! Mrs Crow is so glam in her outfit with butterflies and pearls and sparkly earrings. I love Mr Crow in his braces with stuffing poking from his shirt. The faces are great and I think you will do well fingers crossed, so good luck!! The children and judges will love spotting all the detail on them. :-D :-D.

Annx

Annx Report 28 Aug 2021 14:37

Yes, mind your back Mel, you don't want any more problems holding you up in the garden.

Thank you Mandy and I love your snails!! The eyes and horns are brilliant and I like the coloured shells too. :-) :-)

I thought the hairdresser had forgotten to give me the skin patch test for my next colour appointment that is due and rang to ask if they'd send me one. No they aren't using that kind now and an extra trip to the salon 2 days before your appointment is needed so they can put drops on the skin behind your ear instead. That means an extra covid risk going twice and I have to walk quite a way from the end of the carpark anyway which my knees don't like, so having to go twice is a pain! OH would drop me near the salon door, which is inside the carpark, but you have to punch a code in to get the carpark barrier to lift to get out, so OH would have to find somewhere to park and go into reception to get the code before he could leave again! Isn't modern life complicated!! I think I will leave having a colour this time, it's not as if I go anywhere much at the moment. I did look online to see if I could buy a test and was surprised to see all hairdressers being encouraged to do the tests as there have been a few cases of people who have had not had any problem with dyes for many years suddenly getting allergic reactions after they have had covid.

Well me thinking I would go out and take photos has sent the sunshine packing again! :-S
