I agree Ann they just don't make programs like this anymore apart from this one now. All the funny programs ar'nt funny to us now and there too much bad language in most thing too. Why can't they write things like fools and horses, dads army, and others I could mention if I could remember the names!!!! Simple things that are funny with a story behind them.

Safe journey home tomorrow Vera and enjoy the seal Sanctuary today. I was only saying how quickly the week has gone in a previous post. Its a shame you have to come home today as you seem to have really enjoyed your break.

Good Morning, good morning everyone,

Oh I slept so well last night I feel so much better. :-) It's overcast here, but dry so I think I will get the washer going once OH has finished his online seminar. The washer in the uti makes a lot of noise near where he is otherwise.

Vera, you are right about the week going quickly, I can't believe you are packing for home either. Have nice time at the Seal Sanctuary. Hopefully your OH will be more comfortable if there is less walking involved. Despite all the years we have gone to Cornwall, we still haven't got round to visiting the seal sanctuary there!

I have recorded All Creatures Mel and think we will watch it tonight as we both love it. Years ago a chap I worked with bought all the books and lent them to me to read. They were brilliant and funny, just like the series. It's nice to have progs like this to look forward to.

Good morning AnnG and all

Overcast and a bit breezy here but it is supposed to stay dry. 16 degrees at the moment. OH still wants to go to the Seal Sanctuary so we are going to do that this morning, leaving in a few minutes. Then we will try and get a proper cooked meal at lunchtime so OH can get us a snack tonight while I pack. I can’t believe it’s our last day already. Where has the week gone?

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

Morning Anng and all,

Bit stiff after my gardening stint yesterday but up and dressed and ready to go again today to work through the pain as usual.

Grey white and a bit of blue sky here this morning and at the mo its 15 degrees.

Flippin Feeding Friday again, just where do the weeks go? still Gardeners World tonight.

Did anyone watch the new series of all creatures?

AnninGlos Report 17 Sep 2021 07:24

Good morning all, quite bright outside grey/white sky. It was very clear when I went to bed with a beautiful not quite full moon. It is 12 degrees here.
Nothing planned for today so I will see how it goes. Cynth next door is away although her OH is there, but that means nobody to chat to. Might check out the pots to see what needs clearing out before winter.
Or I could do some HW (Shhh)

The new series of All Creatures Great and Small was on tonight. I meant to put it up this morning but forgot. I enjoyed the first lot so I shall be watching it on catch up when oh is in bed.

The chicken salad was lovely tonight. we had our own toms, chives, mint and beetroot with some added extras bought.

I obviously missed it in the press, sadly had other things on my mind when Covid was talked about in detail in the press and chose not to read anything that could pull me down further. It does seem a horrid side effect though. Viruses have been blamed for things like ME and fibromyalgia so I suppose it should not be a surprise that Covid causes something.

Annx

Annx Report 16 Sep 2021 19:54

Covid toes was known about last year as a symptom of long covid. There's been mention of it ever since in the press and on tv, plus lots of other symptoms you can get. I never realised you could get it in your fingers though! This lady got Covid over last Christmas when the restrictions were eased for Christmas, if I remember right and was off work and exhausted for ages after. It sounded like the MRI scan gave them the diagnosis from what she told OH. They are even unsure what the long term effects might be in some that have got better. A truly nasty disease if you survive but are one of the unlucky ones with long covid.

It's a shame your friend couldn't make it today but at least you got some more things done in the garden. I got a wash done and dried today too. There's still more to do and towels though. I also changed the bedding and dusted the bedroom.

An early night for me I think. We are getting up early again tomorrow as OH wants to drop our scripts in at the surgery before he has an online seminar to watch at 10.00am.

Ah that is a good explanation, but not just with long Covid bwith Covid itself. Nasty, it dies get better but can last months, sounds horrid. Poor lady.

I too have been cutting down brimblesand pulling them right out of the climbing hydranga. Aslo cut off the dead flowers on the latter and some ivy off the wall. A whole barrow laod went ove the bonfire.

I deadheaded too and dug out a little of the twitch and the deer have eaten some of the flowers off the nerines before they are even open.

Just sitting having a G & T. Did I say we bought the Sisilian lemon gin, its lovely with ice and tonic.

Shame you did'nt get your walk about with your friend. I have never heard of these corvid tumours in your feet either. Do you think this is something they have just found out about?

Vera its a shame you lost a long post as I enjoy them too but nice to know you had a good day along the prom and the little park with the clean loos. Never heard of the contactless 20p charge before but I suppose with all the corvid about its the safest way and paying 20p for nice clean loos is good too.

Got sopme chicken mini fillets to cook for tonight and am just about to pop them inthe oven now its warmed up. Shall have them with new pot salad and mixed salad and will do a waldof one too.

AnninGlos Report 16 Sep 2021 18:07

You snuck in there Ann. Good that you finally had a good talk with the doctor/consultant, he sounds like a good one.

Sorry to hear about your OH’s friend. I had not heard of tumours on the feet. I am interested in how they are sure they are Covid related

You will see from my previous post that the walk didn’t happen but I used the extra time in the garden.

AnninGlos Report 16 Sep 2021 17:59

Good job you caught the library Mel, not sure when you read as you are always up the garden.

Vera that is a shame that you lost your post, I love your long posts. Still you seem to have preview your day very well. Lovely to have a long walk by the sea to work up an appetite for tonight

I had another busy gardening day. I spent about two hours cutting down almost all of the blackberry. I now have a very full brown bin, a very large full weed tub and a very full small weed tub plus a pile of the upright thick stems on the earth all waiting for the bin to be emptied next Tuesday. I just have four it five very thick stems which are too thick for existing secateurs so I have ardered a pair of ratchet secateurs which should cope with them and other thicker branches in the garden

I then gave the lawn a quick cut.

I then used the hose on the pots on the top patio and also decided to clean the outside of the lounge window, we have not seen our window cleaner again for weeks.

I didn’t get my walk with my friend as she was unable to make it.

Oh I also did a load of washing.

My hand and arm ache a bit now from all the cutting of bramble branches.

Afternoon All,

Slept well, but a loud beeping woke me at 7.00am...........a big van delivery to Mrs O opposite. They'll soon be delivering 24 hours a day at this rate.

The knee surgeon rang me at 8.30am. He's a much nicer and more informative man than the one I had before that retired. He asked lots of questions and said my knee arthritis was quite severe in 2018 when the last xray was done, which I didn't know. He agreed about the hospital risk with covid, so I will continue with my exercise I can do and see him in 6 months or sooner if I get much worse. He also told me that there is a clinic at the hospital to help patients needing weightloss before surgery. It has closed for now with the pandemic but he thinks it will start again next year. Now why didn't the previous surgeon mention this?

I had another fiasco trying to set up phone bank on my new account yesterday. The online form wouldn't accept my details, then their 'chat' told me a number to ring to get set up. Rang the number and because I was phoning it asked for a phone passnumber, which was the thing I couldn't register for on the form!! I rang the local branch this morning and they are sorting it out for me.

Hubby's colleague who got covid a year ago and then long covid is giving up work as she is finding it difficult to walk. An MRI scan has shown covid related tumours on her feet!

Vera your last meal out sounded much better! I'd be happy to pay the extra too as eating out hasn't been much expense since the pandemic. The church exhibition and little museum sounded interesting and you found a nice gift for a friend too which is good (maybe you should find her a birthday card now and put a note in where her gift is?). :-) Thanks for your tip about storing geraniums. I think I haven't been giving mine sufficient neglect and have been overdoing the watering! The leaves went all dried up if I didn't water them though. Maybe the greenhouse dries them out too much.

Mel you poor thing with that huge bruise! You came a right cropper didn't you. I hope your new delphinium survives. That's annoying the F&C man didn't turn up. I bet you were really looking forward to them as well. You were just back in time for the library today then.

That's good to help the friend who helped you a lot AnnG. and it's good she is doing well now. I hope you enjoyed the walk. It has been warm with patchy sun here.

Now it’s my turn to lose a long post :-(. Can’t redo it all. Good weather apart from a short shower. Went to Mablethorpe. Beautiful beach but hardly anyone on it though the prom and the town were choc-a-bloc. Found a nice little park with lovely clean toilets but had to pay 20p by contactless credit card to get in. That’s a first. Didn't get to the seal sanctuary but had a long walk along the prom and back with plenty of rest stops for OH.

Hope your bruises start to fade soon Mel.

We went to Hatherleigh this mornng for mower petrol and I put some deisel in the car. When we got home Angela from next door but one was in the carpark with a bag in her hand. It was library day and I havemissed it twice now so I had to round my books up and get up there sharpish. It was'nt Julie driving today as she is on a weeks holiday and I knew it was'nt going to be her as whoever the driver was had parked the library near across our drive in. I had to squeeze the car through to get out. Anyway more books now so I am ok for another month now.

Its 21 degrees here now and I am going to see if I can get up the border this afternoon after sorting dinner out first. Think I may make a quiche to have with some salad and pot salad.

Morning Anng and all,

Lovely sunny morning at hte moment but that coud all change later on. its 15 degrees here up till now. Think they said all change tomorrow so make the most of today.

My bruise is even bigger today and still black as your hat and about 7 inches long and one and a half to two inches wide at the top on my hip.

Hoping I can get up the garden today and do a bit more up there as I am missing all the nice weather to do it. I took my nicenew delphium up there to plant the other day and never got it in so I bet theres not much left of it now with all the slugs and snails I have up there.

Have a nice day with your friend Anng and enjoy your walk together. Hope she fully recovers soon.

Did you all have a good nights sleep?

sending love to Island and Frank and hoping he is having a nice time in Spain with the family.

AnninGlos Report 16 Sep 2021 07:42

Good morning all, 12 degrees so far but it is dry. It was quite a nice day yesterday but for some reason I seemed to have not very much energy for gardening,

I did empty the hanging baskets and had a bit of a potter and walked to the post box, taking some books to the charity lady on the way. I then stayed indoors, read a bit; did some admin on u3a groups and made one Christmas card, a simple one and a new baby card ready for October when Great granddaughter is due, plus a little card for Inara to welcome her sister. I had a G&T sitting out in the garden in the evening sun, probably the last time it will be warm enough to do that.

Ben came round in the afternoon, apologetic, he had forgotten/not written in his diary that he was coming Tuesday. He is coming on 11 October to take down the tree and will take it all away including any apples still on it, although the rate they are falling I guess that won't be many. It will cost £200, I guessed that it would as we paid in the past for two trees to be taken down, one each in two of our Grandson's gardens. It will be worth it to get it done.

Vera, that looked like a nice day with lots of interesting bits of information. Some of these local little museums prove to be very interesting and the church sounded worth a visit as well. Then rounded off by a lovely meal (and a glass of wine for you).

I hope this day will be as interesting.

Mel, how disappointing that your fish and chip van was unable to be there. What did you eat in the end. I think you need to rest your bruises again today and not try to do too much outside.

I have my friend coming round this afternoon to go out for a short wal. This is the one who has had the Cochlear implant. She has got her balance back now and is even back using her bike to get around again but her hearing will take a while to settle in. She can hear traffic noise now which is why she is back cycling as she lost the ability to hear from behind, that has returned. She needs people to speak to her though as that is what comes last, she can hear that someone is talking but can't yet distinguish the words properly with that ear. It is quite a strain for me but it is only for a short time and I am willing to do anything to help her, after she helped me earlier this year.
