Evening All,

It's been dull all day here, but with a bit of a blow the washing was mostly dry by lunchtime and then it started spitting with rain. We were watching the Wood Pigeons in the field and they were all at the top of the hedge. We have noticed they sit up there when it pours with rain to get a nice shower and then they preen themselves for ages after. OH said it was an omen seeing them up there!

I'm glad your root planing is done now AnnG. I'm so glad I don't have to have it now as it isn't pleasant. Sounds like Skinny is hoping to move in with you!

Terry who played Happy Birthday for me a couple of years ago has brought out a CD of some of the Hymns he plays on Sundays so I've ordered one. :-) OH has been working and I have had a lazy day! :-) I have managed to trace an old neighbour's daughter friend from my teens on FB. I have messaged her because I've always regretted not getting a copy of a photo she took of me on my pony outside her parents' house in the 60s!! She was delighted to be in touch again and is going to have a search. She's also contacted her 94 year old mum who lives on her own in the village that does the yarn bombs and she is also going to go through her photos too in case she has it, Fingers crossed I might be lucky! :-)

Mel I abandoned one picture as I wasn't happy and the second is not much better! lol. I'll persevere with it tomorrow, but might give up. Big brushes, playing with the paint isn't really what I like! Your mushrooms are coming along I see which is good.

Vera I would be the same if I asked my OH to do that in the garden. He would either completely dig out what I have been nurturing and leave what is getting rampant, or dig something up that's a different plant altogether! You did well with your food order this time then.

Thanks for mentioning The new Chateau Mandy! I see you got washing dry too.

Evening all

We've had a fairly good day I got all the bedding dry and put away and it started raining here about half past four .

Anng where does Skinny live is it a house with children perhaps I bet he likes the peace and quiet at yours plus the turkey dinner :-D you'll probably see more of him as its turning colder .

Oh no Vera I hope your best Hostas are still in the garden could you rescue the ones he's dug up if needs be or are they in the bin .

I see next Sunday we a new lot of The Chateau on channel 4 same time as Darling Buds .

Yes I hope you hav'nt lost the best Hostas either.

It has rained that fine rain all day and its been quite dark too. I have had a little play with my clay and done some painting and have the first coat of varnish on some of the taodstools I made the other day.

Wonder how Ann got on with her painting yesterday? It was textures was'nt it?

Going to do a toady in the old holey tonight with roastys and cabbage.

This was the only visit from Skinny since August. This time you would think he had never been away he left about 3,45 and he got here at 12. He slept on the settee in the conservatory all that time.

Hope all goes well with the AGM Vera and you aren’t too chilly.

And hope you have not lost the best Hostas.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Oct 2021 17:12

Skinny has adopted you AnnG :-) Hope your mouth has come back to life and isn't too sore.

15 degrees but very wet here now. OH went into the garden this morning to take up some hostas. We have too many because he keeps dividing them and planting all the bits back in the garden. He said he had taken up 3. I haven't dared go and look to see which 3 but I suspect they may not be the ones I wanted to get rid of.

Tesco got their act together this time and delivered to my next door neighbour and myself at the same time. I had a big order and expected there to be several subs but there were only 2 and both in my favour. There was one item missing but I had told them I didn't want that subbed.

Our neighbour has just knocked with our Monday goodies. Tonight he has brought us Sticky Toffee Cupcakes. I think they may be a bit sweet for my taste but it's good of him to bring us something each week.

I must now shower before an early meal as we have our Club AGM tonight. It reopened last month and I was wary about going but it worked fine. We were well spaced, almost everyone wore masks and the door was left open. It might be a bit chilly for that tonight but I think we'll be OK. Many of us have now had our third jab which must help as well.

Have a nice evening and a good night's rest. Be back tomorrow.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2021 12:42

Just back from the dentist so have a numb mouth and I want a coffee.

Skinny is here, minus collar. He has wolfed down a bowl of turkey bits. And then he crept in the lounge and went under the table by my chair and went to sleep. He is not daft, it is raining.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 18 Oct 2021 10:42

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Oct 2021 10:37

I am now going to look at the Asda order.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2021 09:59

Vera yes it is the second of the two deep cleans left hand side this time As it is at 11.30 which means a long time before I can eat lunch I have just had two pieces of toast and two eggs to tide me over. still dark here and so far dry and 15 degrees.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 18 Oct 2021 08:56

Morning all

No strange light here today either, just grey skies again, but on the weather on Breakfast News today they showed a picture of the sunrise in Kent and it looked amazing so perhaps you saw the edge of that Gwyn.

I hope you get on OK at the dentist AnnG. Is it a deep clean you are going for?

I’ve got washing in but I don’t think I’ll be hanging it out. There’s no breeze and no sun so it won’t dry. Tesco are coming early afternoon and I have a bigger order than usual. I wonder if there will be any subs or anything missing. I have noticed prices creeping up.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Oct 2021 08:50

Sorry did'nt mean to post before wishing Anng good luck at the dentists as I know you have a bad time with this deep clean.. Hope it all goes well.

Morning Anng Gwyn and all,

No strange light here this morning just a dull sky and so dark we need the light on. Such a change from the last week of glorious sunny days.

I must add a few thing to the asda order today or I shall be without some things.

Slept well and there's one thing I shan't be doing today and thats gardening.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 18 Oct 2021 07:56

Good morning AnnG.
I hope the rain holds off until you get home again and the treatment and after effects are not too troublesome.

Really weird light shining through the window about 7.15 this morning. I couldn't work out what was happening, so popped outside to look eastwards.

It was just the sun rising, although no sign of the actual sun itself, but the sky was pale blue with gentle fluffy bright pink clouds.
It is very mild too.

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2021 07:48

good morning all, very dark here this morning no doubt it will rain at around 11 o'clock when I set out for the dentist. I don't want to take the car because all the injections make me a bit 'muzzy'.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Oct 2021 19:30

They are showing the old ones on another channel but I can't remember swhich one.

I have done oe lot of washing and its still on the line getting wetter than when it went out and it can stay there too. Being cotton it take in the moisture in the air at night.

We cleared all my plants off the decking this morning and I chucked the courgette and short beans and the beetroot in the trough ins'nt doing anything as I think its too crowded but I will leave it in there down by the shed.

Then oh painted the big bench with wet and forget underneath and then we had lunch. After he did the top of the bench so we now have clean decking and bench.

When I first got married my nan gave me a huge cardboard box with tins of food in. She always lept a good store cupboard and we lived with her up until I got married so it rubbed off on me. I used to get stuff for Christmas from about now and start saving things up when I went shopping but not this year. I shall have to trail through Asda's list and buy a few bits each week.

I watched The Larkins last week and still prefer the old Darling Buds but I shall watch it because it is the years I grew up in. I can remember eating outside with all the family when nan and grandad came over (mums parents as we lived with dads).

I used to take my nan down to Laindon to her sisters and they always ate in the garden in the summer. Nan used to stay with them for a week or so and I would drive down and bring her back.

Well I don't know where the day has gone I don't seem to have done very much the washing didn't dry very well it was a day for a slow dry they are now on the airer .

Anng they say the best thing to wrap presents on is an ironing board as you can have it at the height you need ,your doing well getting presents wrapped I've bought a few but it gets harder each year knowing what to buy ,I think this year the girls and Jake will want clothes and I have bought Lewis some Lego as he loves it .

It's quite a while now since we've heard from Frank I hope he's OK.

Ann did you enjoy your lunch ,was it a roast you had today .

We had some Basa today with veg and cheese sauce ,we like Basa it's not at all strong ,don't like Pollock or Coley they are strong .

Did anyone watch the Larkins in Darling Buds ,not to bad but I do think I prefer the old ones .

I am sure Gill will be relieved to get at least the bathroom and kitchen done. I do hope she has found somebody to do it.
It is a worry not knowing how Frank is, hopefully he will call in soon.

Well I managed to wrap all Inara’s presents. I actually give grandson money to buy her something she needs from me but then spend almost as much again on extra’s. Still it is only money and I have enough for my needs, Christmas is for the children so I don’t mind getting extra. Funny enough I still treat them all as children well Grandchildren ad partners so they all get spoilt. I just enjoy buying fir them, if I can’t afford it they won’t get it.

I cut the paper on the table in the end and yes I have wrapped them on the bed before.

Annx Report 17 Oct 2021 16:44

That's a good point about being able to enlarge the print AnnG. I would find that useful! I know what you mean about crawling on the floor. I can't kneel now and yet I always used to cut out sewing patterns on the floor and make curtains. I have some bedroom curtains that need turning up, but OH has taken over the dining table with his work now so I can't do them on there either. I can't grumble as I have the study, but the worktops in there are too narrow and the conservatory just has a small round table, big enough for lunch for two. I tend to wrap Christmas presents on the bed now.

I wonder how Frank and Gill are doing now? I hope Frank is well and wonder if he will be at Conrad's for Christmas. I hope Gill has the building work in progress again now so the bathroom can be finished. It took us 5 years to get my previous house completed including the garden relaid, but we did all of it ourselves, except putting the radiators in and rendering the outside walls and I worked full time and first OH worked Saturday mornings as well as all week then. It was good to see the transformation though.
