Afternoon All,

Well I woke to lashing rain at 5.30am and it continued most of the morning, windy too. It was sunny by this afternoon so I went for a spin in my car while OH was watching the rugby and footie on tv. When I set off I noticed near the junction end of our close someone had dumped a filthy mattress in the road!! It's dark up there at night and anyone turning in would think there was only one bungalow as that is all you can see till you drive round the bend.

While I was out the neighbour diagonally opposite came to tell him our meter box cover was flapping open. OH hadn't shut it properly after reading the meter. He then said they were having problems as they were getting flooding down their drive. He said after contact with the council it was found that the builder had ignored a refusal by them and connected the new properties to our storm drains and the drains couldn't cope. He doesn't know what will happen now as the builder has stopped trading. Then the neighbour went on to say they had had a row with Mrs O and were not on speaking terms now. I can't remember if OH said what it was about, but the result was that Mrs O had had a 9 foot high fence put up between her and the neighbour at the back of the bungalow. The neighbour then said about Mrs O's lights at the side of her bungalow shining in their windows and thought we had the same problem at the front (we do) and should tell them. OH made light of it, as he would deal with it with less confrontation if we did want to raise it. Apparently Mrs O had told the neighbour before that they had fallen out with the neighbours at their previous house.

Your cards are lovely AnnG and like Mel says they look professional. Another with trimmed hair too now!

Oh Vera, your tale of woe continues re the Bank! I look forward to the next episode! It's good the physio is pleased with your OH's progress and well done finishing your Russian Holiday writing project.

OH stubbed his toe climbing in the bath yesterday and was in agony. Later when he showed me it it looked a right mess! I will send a pic.

No Actually Mel, they were from last Christmas, or could even be from 2019. They are fiddly as a lot of the parts have to be pressed out after cutting, with a 'poky tool'.

Just love the cards and very prefessional. The die cut ones must be from new dies you have had recently.

Morning AnnG and all

Grey, wet and dreary again this morning. Although I only put thicker duvets on the beds a few days ago OH and I were both cold during the night and OH got up and put a blanket over the top of his bed. I did warm up eventually. I hope you don’t get wet going for your hair appointment AnnG.

I’ll probably do some h/w this morning as I haven’t got anything better to do. I know how to enjoy myself ;-)

Good morning all, 8am and still dark, looks a bit damp out there, not sure if it is still raining but it has been, Hair appointment this afternoon Tesco this morning, what an exciting life it is. Just hope it stops raining, at least we had some sun yesterday.

Glad that you got your booster done Ann, so that is out of the way then. Yes traffic around here is bad at lunch time too most of the local firms finish at lunch time.

Vera well done on finishing the holiday diary. It will be good to look back on in the future.
And the ‘Tale of a bank’ goes on, hoping to hear the prologue soon.
And we have house problems an Amazon to look forward to now. Hope the house ones are not too worrying.

I had an order from Amazon cancelled, that has not happened before. It was only ten pale blue muscari bulbs. No d plantation for cancelling, I assume they ran out.

And yes it was a long coffee morning but we had not had a chat for weeks, she only lives opposite me but is in and out all over the place.

Chilly, grey and windy all morning with rain on and off. We’ve just had more rain but my computer is now saying 12 degrees and rain to stop. It doesn’t feel like 12 degrees – I’ve just put another jumper on.

I hope your daughter is well away from any flood water AnnG. Watching it on television I couldn’t believe how fast the water was flowing. It’s a shame that you couldn’t get to Slimbridge but better to err on the safe side. That was a long coffee break you had this morning lol

You’re right Mel I had heard the sailor’s trousers saying before, though my grandmother usually said “Not enough blue to make the baby a bonnet”. Another of her expressions, usually said when she was busy chatting and needed to get on, was “Well, this won’t get the baby’s bonnet made”. I wonder how some of the expressions originate.

I hope you are enjoying your day with Lewis and Lacey, Mandy. You’ll need a holiday at the end of this half term lol.

Ann, I’m glad you felt well enough to get your hair done yesterday and go for your booster today. I’m not surprised you hit a lot of traffic around town. Rush hour on Friday seems to start at about noon these days. As you said, we thought it better not to have all our eggs in one basket which is why we had our current and savings account in different banks. We used them like you, keeping just enough in the current account and transferring from the other one when necessary. The problem has been that over the last couple of years transferring has got more and more difficult and now the account has changed so much that we can’t do it at all. This is why we are trying to close the savings account in one bank and have opened one in the bank that holds our current account.

This banking saga just rumbles on and on. We had intended to send back the form I mentioned last time with the page for the branch to fill in left blank but this worried me a bit so OH again phoned the bank and went through all the system of answering their automated questions and eventually got to speak to an advisor. She very airily said “Just send the form off and let the closure department deal with the branch”. OH mentioned something about the address being on the bottom of the form and mentioned it was in Leeds. The lady on the phone then said “Don’t send it there. You have to send it to Birmingham. I’ll give you the address”. OH took down this Birmingham address but we are not at all sure she is correct. If she is right, then there is a completely wrong address on the form. Anyway, the form has gone to Birmingham with a letter saying that it is on the telephoned advice of the bank staff that we are sending it to them and without the section for the branch filled in. We have also sent it on the “signed for“ system so that we have proof of where and when it was delivered and who took delivery. I’ll let you know the outcome in due course.

We seem to be staggering from one difficulty to another at the moment. We have a couple of ongoing house problems which will probably end up costing us money but I certainly won’t bore you with those at the moment. Then there’s Amazon………..no, I can’t face dealing with Amazon today.

It’s not all doom and gloom. OH had a physio appointment today and they were so pleased with his improvement because of the way he has been exercising and going out for walks that they have discharged him, but said they will keep him on the system for another year so that if he has a flare up he can just ring up for an appointment and will get seen.

Another good thing, as far as I am concerned, is that I have at long last finished writing up about our Russian holiday in 2017. It eventually ran to 60 pages though I have put in quite a lot of photos so it’s not all boring text. I never realized it would be so long but, you know me, when I start writing I could just go on forever. I am going to do a back up copy on a USB just in case the computer crashes at any time and I am going to print just one copy. If any family or friends want to read it I’ll email it to them, if necessary a few pages at a time.

I think I had better stop now or I will be going on forever. I’ll just give a quick wave to Island, Gill and Frank ~~~~~~~~~~~ and then I’m gone.

That's my booster done. We were there half an hour early, but they let me in and gave me a number for my turn. I'd barely sat down when I was called. Not many stations were open so I suspect they were just doing boosters today. Luckily it stayed dry while I was there. I spotted Mrs O walking in as we left.

Afterwards OH decided to call in one of his schools near the city to drop some papers off they wanted. Big mistake! We met all the traffic snarled up as so many finish work at lunchtime on a Friday. In the end we drove out of the city and came home instead. The road we came out of the city on has a wide cycle lane each side of the road and we didn't see one cyclist in them. We did see 3 people riding alongside on the pavements though and one had earplugs in and was fiddling with his mobile. Apart from 'why weren't they riding in the cycle lane', how can they hear traffic or car horn warnings with earplugs in?

Morning All,

Blustery wind, lashing rain earlier, cooler and dark clouds here, not what I want for going for my jab later at all. :-( Still getting it done is more important than getting wet. You can't even use an umbrella in this wind.

I see Cumbria have had it really bad with flooding. I haven't seen the latest forecast, but hopefully today means less rain for them. I'm glad we are no closer to the river here and that it's downhill to it.

OH came home freezing from his city school meeting last night. They were doing things properly though with every top window along the room open and a door open to a hall that had a door open to the outside. They haven't had any covid cases among their children yet. I think OH will be wearing his woolly hat and anorak next time! lol.

I love your saying about the sailor's trousers Mel. I'd never heard it before till you said it.

Better get a bite to eat next.

Morning Anng and all,

Miserable again this morning and it rained heavily yesterday evening and was still raining when I went to bed.
I have just spied a touch of blue between the cloud but I don't think its enough to make a sailor a pair of trousers. Its 11 degrees here.

May make a meat pie today for dinner unless I can find something quicker in the freezer.

good morning all, slept ok except kept waking up and going back to sleep again, Looks dry out there, what I can see but it is still 13 degrees. forecast says it will turn colder next week, I hope that means we will get some sun not these horrible dark gloomy days when the clouds seem to be pressing down on us. It has not been nice at all this week,
Not doing anything today, ought to give the car a run to boost the battery other than that will see what happens. :-) :-)

Ann good to hear that the pain eased, hopefully it wii soon be completely better. I bet it feels good to have your hair cut and coloured. I have to admit I was pleased when I finally stopped having colour on my hair.
What have you painted this week? Should I know? I can’t remember

Thanks Mandy. Yes I am being careful and keeping my fingers crossed all will be well. I see you have also been shorn as well. :-)

Mel I forgot to say what a horrid dream you had the other night. It's very unsettling when you get one like that and can be hard to get back to sleep. I had a dream about a week ago that one of my front teeth had a big black hole in the front of it. As soon as I woke up I was feeling around with my tongue as it seemed so real. :-0
