Thanks for mentioning your same experience Island. It is a horrid pain as you say and lifting the knee is a big no no. The strange thing is it mostly disappears in the day. I expect you've tried turning your keyboard upside down and given it a gentle shake?
One of the village community centres near here AnnG where I learned to do beading has been turned into an NHS drop in centre now. It had all kinds of groups meet there before including dance classes for little ones.
Diwali has started here with whizz bangs going off all evening. More tomorrow for bonfire night.

Ann we meet in a local community centre five to ten minutes walk for me. It is a centre that was specifically built to mainly have all sorts of wellness groups meet plus all sorts of keep fit, sport activities. And also youth clubs. There is a good little community cafe as well.. it is quite a big hall tables are placed round the hall, most people have had boosters, a couple wear masks the rest try to keep socially distant I did witness a couple of hugs it is difficult so many people need this contact with people and I think weigh up mental well-being against Covid safety.

Evening all
Annx, I've had that groin pain a few times over the years although the first bout was the worst, so painful I couldn't get out of bed comfortably for three days. Trying to lift the affected leg is nigh impossible, I saw my gp and rheumatologist about it - no idea! :-0 Thankfully, it only lasts a few days, sometimes less. I took paracetamol or co codemol which act like sleepers for me. I hope you are free of it soon.
Sorry all, my laptop needs to see a doctor as some keys aren't working properly and it's tiresome having to edit all the time. :-|

Afternoon All,
Yes it was certainly cool in the night when I was mooching around the bungalow trying to get comfortable from 2.30am till gone 5.00am again. The doc told me this morning that all my test results were normal which is good. He has now prescribed anti spasm medication, I can also take paracetamol and he wants to see me again on Monday. I drove OH to the chemist to pick up the medication and to see if I could get in and out of the car, as I will have to drive myself to the surgery on Monday, as he has a meeting. I managed with a few twinges getting in.
I got a nice £50 from ERNIE this morning which was good!
Mel I hope your hip soon settles again. It doesn't seem long since it was last playing up. I don't think cold, damp days help. I had to chuckle at your OH playing the Hippy Hippy Shake. :-D
You and your OH did well getting everywhere dusted and hoovered in 2 hours Vera. I never seem to go all through in one go these days. That good sleep must have helped!
I see you had a busy day AnnG with your meeting. Where does the group meet to fit 30 of you in?
Mandy we have more oak furniture now and it is heavy. We have pads on the legs so can slide it to clean under, but getting it out of the room would be hard. At least you have everything back in position now thanks to some help from son and DIL. I think we would have to geta Shetland pony in!
The free pottery class this afternoon wasn't too good. The teacher had internet problems and arrived 10 mins late and she wasn't very good or well organised. I just made notes in case I want to make any dishes in the future. There were only 4 of us as well.

Well it says it is 10 degrees out there but it feels colder as the wind is bitter. It is sunny though so walking back from the 1st Thursday meeting was fresh and felt I had a healthy glow.. This month, the second I have been to the number of people was much greater than last time. Over 30 there and bookings taken for the Christmas meal on the 2nd for over 30 people. I paid my money for the lunch so that is that out of the way £15 for two courses I thought that was good value I have pre ordered mushroom Wellington, Christmas pudding and coffee.Talked to quite a few people this time and names are beginning to stick. I was asked to take some of my cards to show people who are interested in craft. I was in a separate room with somebody who was showcasing beed making for the person who actually does it who was away sick. Not many people came in to see stuff though, quite honestly they prefer to chat. I suppose 8 people were interested. Still it helped one person to sort out what she needed and where she could get it so that was good. And then being in the we missed the start of bingo (Shame!!) I hate bingo. So we crept back in and watched and it went on for ever full house was not called until there were three numbers left.
Still it was a way of seeing different people which is good and the sun is still shining so it is lovely and bright if not warm. It felt lovely and warm when I came in though.
Ann, hope you got some help from the doctor. Mel ooh that was not nice of your OH but it was very apt and funny, naughty man!!! I hope it eases off soon (The pain not the hip). Is the cold affecting it?
Mandy all nice and smart now then with the new carpet. You are so lucky to have strong arms to help shifting furniture. Even if T was still here we would not be able to move stuff. And believe it or not I would hesitate to aske Grandsons or son to help as they all seem to suffer occasionally with bad backs.

Morning all,
I too had a smile at OH's choice of song for your hip pain ,have you done something that has set it off again Mel or is it the colder weather affecting it do you think .
Hope the doctor can tell you what the pain is Ann and maybe give you something to help.
You've got on well this morning Vera getting all the dusting done and thats good you've had a better night's sleep.
The carpet went down yesterday and we got the furniture back in with son and dil's help we would never have moved our big sofa by ourselves, this morning I did my shop and went into the carpet shop to pay their bill so we can walk on it now :-D Once the shopping was put away we got the pictures down and some of the ornaments and unwrapped the new lamps we bought ages ago ,we're now waiting for the light bulbs to come as they are screw in ones with a smaller end and most of our bulbs are the twist in ones .
Its a day of sunshine and heavy showers I had to wait in the car at tesco as it poured just as I got there .
Oh parcels just arrived

Oh dear Mel, I know I shouldn’t laugh when you are in pain but I do like your OH’s sense of humour. I hope your hip eases soon. Don’t try and do too much.
I hope your chat with the doctor goes well this morning Ann and he can give you something to ease your pain.
I too remember when the boards moved really fast. I didn’t post much then as I wasn’t quick witted enough for some of the funny threads and some of the others got really nasty. The nastiness has pretty much gone but so has the excitement. GR has lost an awful lot of members in the last few years as well.
I had a really good night for me. I woke a couple of times but went back to sleep quickly. I woke completely at 6 am but it was still dark so I laid in bed till 7. OH was up soon after. With starting early and both of us working we had the whole house dusted and vacced in a couple of hours. Just the bathrooms to clean now but they might have to wait until tomorrow.
It’s 9 degrees here now but the weather app is telling me it feels like 7 degrees, and it’s raining just as we have to go out to the tip.

Morning Anng Island and all,
I typed that and when I lo9oked up all I had was Morning!! Suns out here and oh has washed his fleecey lined jacket and thats on the line and now another one is in the machine so my washing will have to wait.
Its 5 degrees here this morning blue sky and sunshine and not a cloud in the sky as I look out of the window. I hope it stays like this.
I remember when the boards were busy and you always had someone needing help with their tree and I enjoyed the chase with them. Kept me occupied when I had to look after mum. I joined in 2006 so three years after Island and Anng and a year after Ann. I still look on the find ancestors board sometimes.
Ann the best youtube ones to watch are The Northern Mudlarks where they both make jewelry ( mum Gail and daughter Alex) sometimes. They make beads out of clay pipe stems found on beaches and rivers paint them with glaze and fire them in a tiny kiln.

Morning AnnG
It's a bit 'nothing' here at the moment but at least it isn't raining or blowing a hooligan.
Yes, I remember those days when GR was almost round the clock but also the days when those who wished could have a giggle without being being jumped on, I think chat worked much better when it was two boards.

Good morning all, I slept reasonably well so got up at 0700. Now having a ginger tee while looking in on here. Do you remember the days when you would log in in the morning and the boards had been moving furiously all night and you struggled to keep up? Those were the days when we were all excited by the possibilities of the internet. In a way it is good that we got accustomed to it and use it almost without thinking now, But it was exciting.
A light frost this morning but a lovely pale blue and pink sky and so far quite bright.four degrees here at the moment
good job he wrapped up Ann as long as he didn't overheat!! and have to shed layers.
I am sure that when we were on holiday in Fife Scotland, there was one beach where garnets were regularly found. No we didn't fins any but maybe we didn't know what to actually look for.

He's back now and said he was warm enough wih all his layers! I will have to have a look at the Mudlarkers Mel. I seem to remember seeing the programme quite a while ago and it is interesting what they find. Fancy finding garnets though! They would be lovely in silver jewellery like that lady makes.
My Cosmos is flowering like mad now!

I don't blame him Ann if it was all open doors and windows lastr time and its much colder now. pc here says its 6 degrees outside now. I t was cold when I went up for the F & C and I had to wait a little while today so I was pleased I put my big coat on with the hood.
I have been watching the Mudlarkers on youtube and the things they make out of the things they find. One lot makes some lovely silver jewelry with stones she finds on the beaches. They even find garnets on the Thames and beaches in Scotland.

That's interesting you had a similar pain Mel. The worst side for me to lie is the side of the pain, but when I was on my feet it hardly hurt. The doc is ringing in the morning to see how things are and to tell me the results.
Some kinds of people have no respect anyway do they, however nice a home they are given.
Well the class today got a bit rebellious near the end. The industrial pictures for us to paint next haven't exactly gone down well and they are really boring or excessively complicated, Power Stations, old drums by the side of the road, that sort of thing. It was when the teacher said about expressing emotion that some piped up and said they had none for such things! The teacher planned another week of the same subject but seems to be wavering so we'll see what happens next week.
OH has gone out to a meeting so well wrapped up he looks like a michelin man! Last time at this school he froze with all the windows and a door to the outside all wide open, so he's gone prepared this time, as it's even colder now. He looked as if he was going to a winter footie match! :-D.

Very strange Vera but I have a mild pain exactly where you say you have although only on the left hand side. I had it yesterday evening then it went over night but came back about 11.30 this morning. made it a bit painful using the lopper so I was glad I only needed to do a few branches.
That sounds a not very nice area to have to visit Ann, sounds like the council have let it get run down so people are not respecting it.

Afternoon All,
I dropped off to sleep ok last night, but woke up with the pain at about 2.00am, not as bad as before, but I couldn't sleep and my heart was skipping lots of beats again which didn't help. I got up without disturbing OH as he really needed some sleep after the last few nights and I sat at the computer for about an hour and the pain calmed down and I felt ok again. Managed to get back into bed and slept till 8.00am. It's sore and hurts in the groin when I lift my R leg up or try to put a sock on, but otherwise it's been ok today.
I went with OH to the school to drop papers off and we called in for fuel on the way. This city school is in a grotty area of the city which was part of my patch years ago as a visiting officer. It was newly built then, but had lots of lonely footpath walkways going under roads and I found it quite intimidating years ago and made sure to steer clear when it was dark. Now it is run down, graffittid everywhere and because all the trees and bushes are mature, more intimidating than ever with the overgrown footpaths and debris around. Even OH said he watches where he parks his car.
Mrs O had tree people arrive earlier and lots of big bushes like laurel taken out from in the back garden and shredded in their trailer. Goodness knows what is happening in their back garden as it is only about 2 years ago since gardeners were here for weeks redoing her back garden.
We noticd the flytipped mattress at the top of the close had gone when we went out.
AnnG you get through so many jobs and put me to shame! It's a nice feeling getting everything straight in the garden though.
I hope your back feels better soon Vera. It doesn't take much to set these things off does it. Good your headache went though. Getting rid of some old bedding is good and will give you some more drawer space. Ohh an exciting trip to the tip coming up tomorrow then! I must check whether we still need to make appointments.
Better get a drink ready for my course now.

I* too hope Mandy feels better today and Katie. I wonder if it was something she picked up from Katie?
We still have lovely sunshine and its 11 degrees so I went and cleaned out the chickens the big girls so they will be ok for another week now.
Need to get lunch now and we have ordered the F & C's for tonight so I only have to go and pick them up and I am having a steak pie and some of oh's chips. I like their pies they're very tasty.

Good afternoon all
I hope you are over your icky tum now Mandy. Max is a character isn’t he? I can just picture him dripping with gravy with that “it wasn’t me Mum” expression on his face.
Your pain does sound horrid Ann. I hope it’s easier today and the doctor can find the cause and give you some relief.
I haven’t felt too brilliant myself for a couple of days with a pain round the ribs at the back and a bad head but my head’s OK now and the other pain is bearable.
There was a heavy frost this morning though it cleared pretty quickly. It’s still only 7 degrees and feels colder.
I did the ironing this morning and washed a load of towels. When I went to a drawer of bedding in a spare room to put something away I could hardly open it as it was stuffed full, as was the drawer beneath it. They were full of bedding that I hadn’t used for years but hung onto “just in case”. Why? So I had a sort out and the charity shop will be getting 2 valances, 4 duvet covers, all king size, and 12 pillow cases.
OH and I had a disagreement this morning but we’re friends again now :-). He has just gone to the local chippie to buy their pensioners’ fish and chips lunch. I’m not a great fan of F&C but it’s OK occasionally and will save cooking today.
Tomorrow we have an appointment at the tip to get rid of some stuff we cleared from the garage. We still have to make an appointment, which most local people prefer anyway, but we are now allowed to go more then once a week. Things are looking up!
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

We did have sun but it had clouded over by 11am and I have just got rained off in the garden.
So far today I have read most of the DM on line, tidied away and sorted out rubbish for the two bins from all my Christmas craft stuff as I have finished my Christmas cards. It all goes into two A4 cardboard boxes and a tin. The backing papers fill one box alone but at least I hardly had to buy any this year. I then walked down the road with a large carrier bag full of my clothes sorted out when changing from summer to winter stuff for the charity lady. I noticed she had two large bags already on her door step obviously the time of year for clear outs. Before walking back I walked into the park, nobody around but it was good to get among the trees for some fresh air. The trees there are not yet turning.
Back then for a coffee then half an hour in the garden cutting back an overgrown clematis and a bit more Buddleia and climbing rose. then it started to rain so I had to come in.

Morning Anng and all,
Bright sunshine at the mo but only 4 degrees at pressent. The sun is now quite low inthe sky and is throwing rainbows on the bedroom walls from my crystal hanging in the window that Di bought me.
I have some washing to go out today and may put another load in will see how much line space I have after putting the first olot out. It seems days since I did any so the basket was full but with the wind blowing the rain under the lean to outside the back door and no heating on it seemed daft to do any.
Hope Ann had a better night and what she explains with her pain is just how I was a while ago when I could'nt get in bed or out very well without dreadful pain. The one thing that was good in my case was I sleep on my right side and don't move in the night.
