Anybody seen any fireworks? None round here ar all. Presumably saving their parties to tomorrow which might be a mistake if the forecast is right

Thanks for the photos Mel. What is it about hogs that's so appealing? I'm sorry your hip is so sore. I don't suppose the cold and damp weather helps much. Are you going to spoil OH on his birthday tomorrow? Perhaps he doesn't deserve it after playing "Hippy, Hippy Shakes" to you.

Being in pain so much is a real downer Ann. I hope it all starts to improve very soon. Your poor OH, tooth problems are no fun. I think NHS dentistry seems to have gone completely to pot over the last few years. What happens when you get to May and your OH is told "Sorry, it'll be another 6 months"? Another NHS dental surgery in our area has recently closed and all their patients, which include several of our friends, are now not registered with any dentist and can't get on anybody's list. I hope the fireworks don't keep you awake too much tonight. They aren't usually too bad here. I can hear some going off at the moment though I can't see anything through the window.

Have you found your FH disc Island? Isn't it strange when you put something in a safe place and can never find it again? We've occasionally mislaid something which has turned up years later in the silliest place. I wish co-codamol acted like sleepers for me. They do ease pain but have little other effect but it's good if they help you.

I always seem to be having a moan but now just call me Victor Meldrew because I DON'T BELIEVE IT. Today I got a letter about the Winter Fuel Payment (OH got his a couple of weeks ago) and the payment is going to go into THE WRONG ACCOUNT (buries head in hand and screams). This account is now in the process of being closed. I think the Winter Fuel Payment staff and the State Pension payment staff use the same database or at least use connected ones as OH's WFP is going to the right account. So I have sent yet another letter. How many times do I have to tell them? What is it with me that they can't get it right? It can't be that I don't make things clear to them as I actually dealt with OH's (he just signed what I put in front of him) and that was changed with no problem at all.

OK, rant over. Let's end on a happier note. Our friends M & V came round for coffee this morning and we had such a laugh together which did all of us a power of good. I don't know what we found to laugh about but I know it was a very happy time and they stayed for 3 hours when they only popped in for half an hour :-D

When I corned the chickens he was'nt where I left him so he must have gone home. I could'nt keep him for a while as I ususally do as I have a load of stuff in the plastic box I usually use so I shall put food round there for him and it will have to take its chances. There's plenty of places for him to nest round there which will be cosy for the winter.

A Barn Owl Mel?

Afternoon All,

We had a sunny start but it's so dull now. I managed to sleep all night last night till about 7.30am, so either the painkillers helped or I was exhausted from so little sleep previous nights. More pain today than yesterday, but some days have been better than others anyway. I suggested OH drive us to Billesdon rather than me as I wasn't sure my reactions would be as quick with the brake being my bad side and after struggling into my clothes again this morning. He has a meeting there Monday and it's unlit narrow lanes with poor signage and will be dark so he wanted to check the route beforehand. It is a pretty village with thatched cottages so a nice trip. We decided to drive into the city on the way back and what a grim looking route it turned out to be. It was run down years ago, but now the old decaying buildings seem to be left while they have stuck a new, garish hotch potch of buildings in every available space. The main road is lined both sides with cheap shops, mostly with foreign names and there is rubbish and weeds everywhere. No pride in garden fronts or buildings, plus graffitti of course. Yet sadly the untouched tops of these shops have lovely fancy windows and plasterwork and the whole of the frontages must have been lovely once. :-S

Sorry your hip is still so sore Mel. It sounds a good day for crafts and may help your hip too.

Yes, Island is right about 'stiffening up' overnight with aches and pains. The colder weather may not have helped you either AnnG.

OH was still waiting to hear from the hospital about that tooth the dentist referred to the hospital, then the hospital said the dentist could do but the dentist passed back to the hospital to do! So as he has started having some twinges from it he decided to chase it up as the 6 months they said he may have to wait is up. Now they say it will be next May before he is seen as the waiting list is so long!!!

The Diwali fireworks went on for ages last night and why do they save the noisiest till last when you want to get to sleep. There will be loads more tonight with bonfire night and all over the weekend at least I expect.

Sad to see Lionel Blair has passed away. RIP . <3 He was a great tapdancer.

Forgot to report on the sore hip. ITS SORE! It was ok when I went to bed last night so its back to the pills today.

Hope Ann is not in so much pain this mroning too. <3

Gun powder treason and plot.

Morning Anng Island and all,

Hope you find your FH disc you put in a safe place Island. Ann is still looking for a pc stick with stuff on it she put away somewhere safe when they went on holiday about three or fout years ago. I have said it before get yourselves a little note book and write these things down as we ALL forget where we put things.

Its Mr Mel's birthday tomorrow. Can't forget that can I the day after Guy Fawkes night and he can' forget mine cos its on Valentines day.

Got up late as I went to the loo and it was cold so went back to bed for five mins and fell asleep again and oh woke me at 10am.

Nothing planned for today but there are a couple of crafts I want to do so I expect thats what will happen.

Big frost here, so I'm told.
Stiffening up over night is par for the course for me so I'm hoping the new meds will ease it - it has been a lot worse on the current ones. So I do sympathise with morning aches and pains.

Today I am determined to find my FH disc. This is the second time I've lost it - both times in a 'safe place' :-|

Good morning, another frosty one, although not a hard frost here and it is now one degree, lovely clear pale blue sky but chilly. Nothing planned for today so present wrapping and card writing I think. all my Christmas card making stuff has been put away so it is a bit less of a tip in here.

Slept well, woke around 6am and lay there until 7. still got the faint pain in my side/back, it seemed to go off during the day so maybe it stiffens up overnight, I shall see.

One job I must finish is my monthly bank account check.

Lionel Blair has died at 92.

I can’t quite remember but in the back of my mind many years ago the community centre was paid fir by the community particularly for what was then 30 years ago) a huge council estate. The estate is still there but many houses etc were sold off and the trouble makers who lived there moved around over Gloucester. There is still one area with a ‘reputation’ but most of it is ok. I am pretty sure it is not council owned but is a trust of some sort so hopefully will stay for the use of the community.
