Afternoon all,

Cloudy here after a frosty and foggy start ,yesterday was a lovely sunny day and we got a few jobs done outside.

This morning we nipped to sons for a coffee and we've just had some F&C's they went down a treat so won't have to cook tonight.

Oh dear Vera two things happened beginning with T hope Tesco's not the third thing .

That's typical Anng as you say if you'd laid late they would have been there early but at least you now have nice clean windows for when the sun shines .

Mel you need some walkie talkies that way you can call OH when he's out of sight, Lewis had some for Christmas they are brilliant little things but of course his are toy ones but they still work a good way apart.

Ann you'll soon be able to have your walnuts again ,I like nuts too I like peanuts and Pecans .

I missed your post there Mel as I had lunch in the middle of my last one. I'm having trouble typing near the end of rows too so have given up trying to correct my last one as the cursor jumps elsewhere. I think I will have to get one of those bells for when OH is in the garden when the phone rings for him as he never hears me banging on the window. No I haven't tried that lamb joint Mel and it sounds nice so I will order some. We have had the lamb steaks before but they do vary as you say.

Afternoon All,

It was horrid and dull earlier but we have sunshine now. At least we didn't need to scrape frost off the car before we set off for the factory shop! They'd had more of the joggers in that OH liked so he got another pair and I stocked up on fat balls for the birds and got a new plastic jug as an old one has split. The staff and us were all masked. Then we stopped at the PO/Pharmacy and OH dropped off the old meds and posted the lightbulbs back that I bought for the bedside lamps that don't dim despite saying that they do! Their customer service has been excellent though and they will replace them with better, more expensive ones and have paid the return postage.

Oh Gwyn how nice to see some Narcissus in flower. They are such perfect looking flowers and the scent is so lovely.

Vera OH is always making me jump out of my skin as he comes looking for me and I don't always hear him with the hoover on. Your OH must have had a start though if he spilled the tea! Sometimes it can make you feel badly for a few minutes as well.

After posting the card yesterday we walked a bit further towards the village and we have never seen so many Pigeons flying across the field at the back of our bungalow. They came across in flocks of them, some settling in the trees but others were crossing the road in front of us. We thought there were about 400 of them! Goodness knows where they are all coming from and we've never seen this many before. It'll be like the Hitchcock film soon!

I've trimmed the flowers off my geraniums but the cold this week has shrivelled some of the leaves so I hope they will be alright. I might put some bubblewrap I have over the top of them as it is supposed to get colder I think.

I wonder what Mel is making......clue no 1 is wood !

I hope there are some good bridge pictures for you to see today AnnGn

Oh dear Vera, not a good start to the day, hope nothing else happens. I dread having to retune my TV as T always did that and I don't have a clue.

Mel had to re-read that as I first imagined you standing outside the door wealding the large hand bell that we used to be summoned in from the playground by. (that last sentence is appalling grammar but I can't go back and re-write it now.

Window cleaner was supposed to be here at 0900 so Cynth and I were both up early and they didn't come until 1045, typical. If I had overslept they would have been early.

O I think it was about oh going up the caravan with his new toy and pc. I either shout at him if the doors open or I ring the school bell that sits in the hall and was rung for us when we worked up the top garden and mum wanted us down the house.

It says 1 degree here and fog but the suns been out since I got up but has just gone behind cloudy skies, boo hoo.

Morning Anng Vera and all,

Got up at 7am and there was a very hard frost and everything was white so I went back to bed. Oh woke me at 10am so I had another three hours sleep.

Vera I hope the third thing today is not too dramatic after the tea episode and the telly. Hope you get your channels back on the tv as there's nothing worse than wanting to see a program on a channel you can't get.

I keep meaning to ask Ann if she's had the Chump Joint of lamb from Asda. We had it sent to us as a sub and I was a bit weary at first but it was a lovely bit of meat and only takes 35 mins to cook. We used to have the lamb leg steaks but thye got worse as one would be huge and lean and the other would have a huge bone in and be a bit gristley. This little joint is very nice and too much really for the two of us in one go but we manage it!! as there's not really enough for a nice sandwich the next day.

Ann also asked me a question in a previous post and I did'nt answer it and have now forgotten what it was. I better go back and read the [posts again.

Morning AnnG and all

It’s back to grey skies again. Yesterday afternoon’s sun hasn’t lasted long.

We haven’t had a good start to the day. OH was bringing me a cup of tea first thing but I was already up. As I opened the door from one side he was opening it from the other. He jumped out of his skin suddenly seeing me right in front of him and the tea went all over the carpet. We cleaned that up and while I was having breakfast he went to retune the TV as channels have changed over the last day or two. He doesn’t usually have any trouble but this time everything’s gone wonky and we appear to have lost a lot of the channels we usually watch. That’s two things so I’m wondering what the third will be.

Tesco are delivering this afternoon but otherwise I don’t have any plans for the day. I’ve got some leeks in the fridge that are just beginning to get past their best so I think I’ll go and make some leek and potato soup.

Have a good day whatever you are doing

Good morning all. up and dressed early because the window cleaner id due to come. they are not unknown to get here at 0830. Windows so need doing, no doubt it will rain later though.

Yes Vera it is very quiet generally on GR I think people may have started going out more or else are fed up with being in all the time and can't be bothered to post. As cases of covid have gone up in the county I am not going far. although do have photography this afternoon which is held in a hall not somebody's house.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jan 2022 23:12

Yours too Vera.

I have been busy looking for stuff for my latest project. I think it may be another one that dos'nt get finished. I just can't find what I wnat. I did find some wood up the potting shed but when I got it back to the house it had woodworm so that went in the dustbin. I also found some flooring slates I made years ago and there just about enough for what I want after spending £8 on paper I did'nt like.

Where is everyone today? It’s not just on this thread but the boards generally seem to hardly move these days.

It rained here this morning but we actually had sun for most of the afternoon. I’d almost forgotten what the yellow stuff looked like. A bit of sun makes all the difference. It seems to lift the spirits.

I’ve had a very easy day and feel better for it. I sorted my food order this morning and tidied up the study a bit. We had our main meal at lunchtime today and then went into town just to pick up my meds. While I was there I also popped into the hairdressers and made an appointment for a haircut next week. When we got back I watched the programme about Jay Blades learning to read and then I read for an hour. So I’ve had a really lazy day.

OH is watching some Western on the TV and I’m not sure what to do now. I’ve done the crossword and the sudoku and read both our daily paper and the local weekly paper which came today. Perhaps I’ll go and have a good wash and pamper myself with some nice face and hand creams :-)

I hope you all sleep well tonight and all your dreams are happy ones.

Yes I do someties touch type but do look at the keyboard mostly. I think I may be hitting something which wipes out my typing too as I don't have as much control over my fingers as I used to have. I also have trouble with htis keyboard as its much smalller than my old ones but I want ed one with raised keys and this is what I got. The one I wnated did'nt arrive till January and he was'nt having that. So you put up with what you are given but it is better than the old one which was only a year old anyway.

Its brightened up a bit here so hopefully we may get a little sun at some point today.

I have just had a lovely long uninterutped shower as oh is up the caravan so I thought I would take advantage of that. Feel all nice now.

OOOO I can hear him coming down on the mower, he must want a coffee so I better put the kettle on.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Jan 2022 11:14

Mel that is strange. Has this only happened since you had your new keyboard. It sounds as if you are hitting a key that deletes part of the message which seems odd. Do you touch type. I don't and don't watch the message as I type. Sometimes I realise I have hit a key which means although I think I am typing a message nothing is being printed on the screen. So I try and check every so often.

Annx nice to have sun, forecast was for rain across Devon and Cornwall but it seemed to miss us leaving us only with cloud which we have got.

Another gloomy day here, but hopeful of some sun later... It seems such a long time since those lovely bright days earlier this month.
I did go for a short walk around local roads yesterday... and Yes Ann, there were several narcissus out, - lovely bright yellow star-like multi headed ones with orange centres, so that brightened a dull afternoon.

Hope your headache eases during this morning, Vera.
Take it easy and enjoy your gammon meal.

Time to restock the store cupboard soon. We have been trying to use up some of the older items, but recipes for our now limited supplies are getting harder :-S

Annx Report 27 Jan 2022 10:59

Morning All,

We have bright sun and the PC says 9 degrees so I should really do something in the garden. I was up much earlier this morning and we have an easy lunch so that's good. I have had to hide my walnuts as that is one of the things I can't have for 3 days now and I eat a couple of them most mornings.. Tomatoes is another and that will be hard as I often have those and they are in baked beans and soups too. Still it's only for 3 days.

Once OH finishes his online meeting we'll walk to the post box at the end of the close to post a birthday card. It is for my piano playing friend in London.

I quite agree about it being quite depressing about the people we lose as we are getting older Vera and the wider our circle of friends, the more bad news we hear. I hope your poor head doesn't get worse today and that your back is on the mend now.

OH said his meeting would be half an hour at the most and it is over an hour now so I'd better show my face and see if he is nearly done.

Morning Vera Anng and all,

Miserable here again this morning and it raining quite steadily. Dull and dreay and I don't think we will see the sun at all today. Pc says 8 and mostly cloudy so its in for the day.

AnninGlos Report 27 Jan 2022 08:55

good morning all, slept well but was dreaming a lot, I don't remember what about though. dreary here again today, at least we did see the sun for a short while yesterday. Oh Vera, that is the trouble with us getting older, our friends are too and life seems to be full of bad news from our peer groups. I am sorry to hear about your friend and hope she can find some comfort and stability with her family. Take it easy today and get rid of that headache. <3

I had better go and pull up my kitchen blind so that Cunth knows I am still alive.

SuffolkVera Report 27 Jan 2022 08:20

Good morning.all

I haven’t put my nose outside the door yet but the forecast is for it to be another grey day but quite a bit warmer.

Just before I went to bed last night I had a phone call from my friend M telling me more worrying news. Without going into details, our mutual friend who has just lost her husband is not at all well physically or mentally. Thankfully she has a good family and one of her sons has taken her to his house for the time being. It’s a bit upsetting how our old “gang” are getting depleted but I suppose it’s to be expected at our age.

This news didn’t help my bad headache at all and it was fast turning into a full blown migraine so I took the highest dose allowed of my prescribed painkillers and went to bed. I got some sleep during the night and feel a lot better this morning but will take it easy today as I still have the pain across one eye and it won’t take much to bring it back.

Luckily all I’ve got to do today is pick up my meds and finish off my Tesco order which is being delivered tomorrow. I haven’t even got to cook much as we still have some gammon left and I’ve always got salad stuff in the fridge.

I got up ages ago, made myself a cup of tea and brought it back to bed but I can hear OH moving around downstairs so I had better get up. Enjoy your day everyone.

Chimneys are another great subject too AnnG. I take pictures of the fancy ones and of course some are used as plant pots. That's good that Cynth can organise the funeral now. It's a sad task so it's good when it's one less thing to be done.

I do like the fingerless glove with the owl on Mandy and the button eyes look great. Will they be for you?

It sounds like you had a good time with your cousin and wife Vera and that your lunch was very enjoyable. I think there are still things I could learn on the art front though. This teacher was very perceptive with his advice and tips and it was useful as he discussed our paintings one by one and you could learn from what he said about the work of the others too. I'm on his waiting list for his next 2 courses which are fully booked so might get another chance. I was on his waiting list for this one I missed and they usually send you an alert but for some reason didn't this time. Sorry to hear you have a headache and I hope it goes off once you are away from screens.

I must nip and cut the flowers off my geraniums tomorrow then, but will take a photo first so I know what colour each one is.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2022 19:35

Sorry I should have said coroner has released the body so the funeral can be held.

Bridges were great to photograph but it would have been better at a different time of year. Nect month is chimneys.
