Annx Report 21 Feb 2022 20:20

Evening All,

We both overslept this morning, so OH had to nip out with the charity bag in his dressing gown! It disappeared later so it was collected ok. It was very windy though so he had to put it next to the tree behind the trunk so it could be seen.

We went for a short walk by the ice house again today. My word, despite the digging of a large pond near the river, it had flooded the fields both sides of the road on the way in the car. We avoided the tall trees on our walk and it was blustery and blew us about a bit.

Those deer have a taste for your Lilies don't they Mel. One of our Camellias is in flower but the wind has bent it over. Fancy seeing the Buzzard as well. It sounds like you are doing well with your project.

Vera it sounds like the 'birthday bash' was good and I would have enjoyed your main course. The cake with sparklers sounded good too.

It's a good job you had your torch chrged ready when the lights started flickering Mandy. We lost the internet for a short while earlier. At least you don't have to wait long for your blood test results and it's good they do these checks to make sure the statins aren't causing any problems. How are you getting on with the new ones now, any better? I booked my thyroid and blood sugar blood tests today. You got a lot of HW done. I did some washing and cleaned the glass in the hall door, those little panes take a while doing the edges. I expect a lot of trees have come down. An old schoolfriend has sent me a picture of her flattened fence all down one side of her garden.

It's a while since I was a babe AnnG ! ;-) lol. I see what you mean, but don't those extra years start to creep on fast as you get older, especially as 2 have been added on with covid! I hope you found the red bulb and got it replaced. It's our bin day tomorrow too so I hope OH has put them where they won't fall over.

I have just had three deer inthe garden and one jumped over the fence into the top garden and the other two ate my day lily leaves onthe border. Came in to get the camera and as I looked out the back door down at Prickley Bottom the big beech tree has a huge Buzzard sitting in the branches. I am hoping he's watching out for the baby bunny I have seen round the back of the bungalow.

Blood done ,there was three in front of me as I was a bit early but I was the last one in there and everyone was wearing masks ,they should have the result by the end of the week and will ring if there's any thing wrong so I don't have to ring them.

Just been up and made the bed as I stripped it off this morning and got that all washed ,I bet there's a good dry out as the ground is drying quickly it would be keeping it on the line in this wind that would be the problem.

I had a good hoover round and dusted again and washed all the work tops in the kitchen so a good mornings work now going to watch doctors and I want to see Escape to the country at three as its a new one and they are in North Norfolk.

Did the chickens and its still blowooing a hooley out there but the suns been out all morning. Guess what? I had one big egg this morning and TWO little ones. I am so pleased.

Brought my bulbs up to the patio as they are in flower and so I can enjoy them. The wind blew my new barrow over again right onto daffs and my crocus and squashed them flat so I had to lift them back up again. Sorted and moved pots on the patio so thats tidier now so a good morning in all but I did'nt get to my craft.

Just going to do some lunch now.

Hope you get on ok with your bloods Mandy and you don't get blown away.

Morning All,

Rough old night so windy and I laid awake for ages just could not go off , this morning it's still gusty and raining at times but there has been a glimpse of the sun.

I have to go out to the doctors for a blood test its a liver test because of going on to the statins.

We're waiting to see what this is your making Mel it sounds as if there's a lot of work in it.

Anng I suppose your like us don't really have much in the bin so it wouldn't matter if you missed a collection.

Vera it sounds like you had a lovely afternoon with your friends ,a meal cake and bubbly to finish it off can't be bad .

Ann we have a todo list too but we never seem to get to the end of it lol
Hope your charity bag doesn't get blown about in the wind when you leave it out .

Right quick coffee then I'll get sorted to go out , I'll probably get blown there .

Morning Anng and all,

I too watched the good karma and call the midwife last night late on catch up.

Still very wndy here this morning and the suns out too, hooray, I hav'nt seen that big yellow thing in the sky for ages. Pc says partly sunny and 10 degrees with a pic of the sun with aq grey loud over it and the red foot print.

Want to get on with my craft today if I can. I have some glueing to do and some painting and after that its all play time to finish it off and thats going to take a while. This means you still all have to wait to see what it is.

Good morning all, really blustery strong wind here again today so I won't be going out again. Story in local news lady in her late 80s was blown off her feet in her garden and taken to hospital with head injuries. So not even safe in your garden. Frightening.

It is our bin day tomorrow but if it is still windy (or forecast windy overnight) I shan't be putting my bin out tonight.

One job for me today. Switched on the electric fire for the light effect yesterday evening and the bulb popped so today I have to remove all the 'coals to replace the bulb. (having located a replacement red bulb first), that is the 4th bulb to go in a week.

Slept well last night and a wash load already in the washing machine.

that all sounds so lovely Vera so good to have that circle of friends and near to you too. Our circle has always been well spread across the country and I don't get to see them now as they are all not able to drive far. I was/am second youngest so you can tell we are all ancients. Glad you had a good time anyway. And you still have the actual day to look forward to.

Annx I had forgotten that you were still a babe compared to me and may not get the 4th jab. I expect you will in time.

Mel did you fight over the one egg or is it finders keepers?

I am up late I was catching up with good Karma hospital and ask the midwife as well as dancing on ice.

Vera you are talking to friends on here. We are all your friends. <3 We love your long posts and I can see you had a smashing time.

SuffolkVera Report 20 Feb 2022 19:19

We are in the middle of a real rain storm here. It’s just as though some giant is hurling buckets of water at the windows. It’s pretty windy again as well. I hope it is not too bad where you are though it sounds as though it’s pretty grim for all of us.

Lovely that your new girl has started laying Mel. Let’s hope she gives you lots of scrumptious eggs in the future.

Ann, that is so sad about your friend’s cat. We get so attached to our pets that it really hurts when they pass away and you don’t expect to lose such a young cat so suddenly.

Your Tesco delivery was early AnnG. Did he not ring to ask if he could deliver early? Last time a driver came to us early he phoned to ask if it was OK as he was nearby. It was fine but I asked what he would have done if we hadn’t been there and he said he would have had to come back at the time booked. You’re right about me using Word and c&p if I am doing a longer post (like now) as I have lost a few posts in the past and it is so frustrating. I reckon there must be a Land of Lost Posts somewhere in the ether.

That’s interesting about the 4th Covid jab. I hadn’t seen that. Talking of jabs, just as we were going out yesterday the phone went and it was our surgery asking if I would like to book a Shingles jab. I have always been too young or too old each time they had a session and according to the NHS site the jab is not given to anyone over 80 (as I will be by the time of the appointment). The response was that I was on their eligible list and that was good enough for them. Our docs have 5 different surgeries and I was given a choice of appointments on different days at different surgeries. I opted for the latest one, March 17th, as it was at the surgery with the easiest parking. I shall be cross if I get there and they decide not to do it because I will be over 80 then.

I was the one who said I didn’t want a fuss for my birthday but what a wonderful day I have had. There is another lady in our club who is 80 on Wednesday and an ex-member who was invited back because she is 90 tomorrow. She is amazing – 90 going on 70. We had a partitioned off section of a large pub and 4 tables between the 18 of us there. 3 of the tables had those age balloons on them, the ones that are weighted at the bottom and float up in the air and one of them is now in our lounge. The food was excellent. We had preordered and I had stuck with fish, whitebait for a starter and salmon in a lemon and dill sauce for mains. Even though I was quite full I finished every bit as it was so beautifully cooked and went down well with a glass of dry, white wine.

We then went back to the house of the other lady who will be 80 on Wednesday as she has the biggest place with large rooms. We started with tea or coffee, then the 2 ladies who organized it all brought out glasses of bubbly with a non-alcoholic alternative for the drivers and then in came a trolley with a birthday cake with one of those sparkling firework things on the top. It burned for a long while. The cake had been professionally made and was a delicious sponge with white icing and on the top Happy Birthday in coloured letters and the names of we three birthday girls in silver letters. The cake was cut up into quite big pieces for us to eat then and we were given the silver letters of our names to keep.

As you can imagine there was lots of noise and laughter and I came home with a headache but I am not complaining. I am so, so lucky to have such a lovely group of friends. I know I can call on them if I need help and they know they can call on us. Sadly we are all getting older and we have lost a few over the last couple of years but our group is still going strong. Long may it continue.

Well, as usual I’ve rambled on but I always feel I am just talking to friends when I post. I hope you all sleep well tonight and your homes and gardens stay damage free.

That's interesting AnnG. I've read somewhere that some countries are already doing a fourth and I wasn't sure if it would happen here. Not sure where it leaves me as my 6 months is up by the end of April, but I'm not 75 till July?

I've just started writing a to do list for tomorrow....... and it keeps growing. :-S The charity bag is ready to put out now and OH has offered to put it out by 8.00am as they request. They give a number to ring if it isn't collected which is good as it sounds as if they come back to fetch it in that case.

Just seen this

Vulnerable people and over-75s are set to receive their fourth covid jabs in the coming weeks as Boris Johnson is set to declare Thursday is Covid Freedom Day with all curbs - including legal self-isolation - to end in England.

It has been six months since many received their last jab in late 2021.

Future vaccinations will be organised in a similar way to the annual flu programme and will focus on the elderly and immunosuppressed people

Afternoon Everyone,

Lost a post yesterday so gave up ........as you lose the will sometimes! OH wanted me to watch a film he thought I'd like at 8.00pm so I came off here early.

I see the Queen has tested positive for Covid now, but thankfully her symptoms are mild at the moment.

How nice they read from your letter at the funeral Vera. I agree with AnnG and Mandy about your writings. I think you have a way with words and make what you write interesting. I'm glad you found those earrings in time too.

A lovely egg from one of the new girls Mel! Maybe there will be double yolks soon. I had 2 double yolks with my last lot from the farm shop. It's a shame your roof panels can't give you electric when it goes down.

Have you tried Aldi for some Elephant wool Mandy, although they might not have many colours. The Works usually have wool too but you may have already tried these places. What a to do with the car chase and that poor girl losing her study material. No wonder she was upset. I wonder why he threw it out? It's a good job he was caught anyway.

It seems to be much sad news lately. My beading friend with the big cats has messaged me to say her husband heard strange noises from the kitchen yesterday afternoon and it was one of the cats having some kind of seizure and he just died. He was only 6 years old and he hadn't been unwell.

It's a bit windy here and the PC umbrella is up so rain is expected. It says 12 degrees but doesn't feel like it!

We got a charity bag through the door for Leukaemia Research the other day, so I will fish out what they are asking for from my own bag I am filling. It needs to go out tomorrow and I hope it does get collected. I also have an address to send bras and makeup that aren't wanted to as well and still have a few to sort through. They send them to poorer African women. Apparently African women who wear a bra are less likely to be raped, as men see them as having higher status. What a world we live in!

Better get a couple of bills paid now. I've booked an appointment for the blinds we want to be measured and made.

Its still blowing a gale out there at the mo and the chickens did'nt really want to come out. No new girls egg today but I did have a nice big one from someone else.

The leccy went out for a while this morning and thats why I hav'nt been back on here.

Hope Island is ok and has'nt suffered any wind damage.

I do copy and paste my posts on here but not on wordpad.

AnninGlos Report 20 Feb 2022 12:23

Nice to visit your son for coffee Mandy. Is it walking distance I can't remember?

Mel why don't you write your message on word or whatever word processor you use and then copy and paste it into the message box. I often do that with a longer message and I know Vera does too. It saves the frustration but have you any idea why you are losing posts? What action have you taken just before the post disappears? It is very strange.

I had quite a shock this morning when the door bell went at 1005am. It was the Tesco delivery man who was an hour early. He didn't know why he was early said he had been ahead of himself all morning. I say man, he looked about 15! but I assume he is older than that. Anyway that was soon out of the way, bedding has been washed and bed changed/made up and a chilli con carne is cooking in the slow cooker for tonight. drizzly rain out there so not nice enough for a walk windy too still so will have to go back to the jigsaw and knitting. Maybe make a couple of cards. I did make an Easter card for my sister yesterday. I have four more cards to make for Easter, three of which are for the children.

Morning Anng Mandy and all.

Dull windy and raining here so not nice at all today. Its 10 degrees.

I wonder if I will get another little egg today. Its always exciting to me when they start laying. Iv'e been shutting them in at night with it being so wet and windy and given them food and water in the house so I don't have to worry about getting there early to let them out.

I'm posting this
