Good morning all 17 degrees here and cloudy. I went back to sleep at 0600 and woke at 8.10. I don't like doing that because it was a deep slepp and lots of dreaming so when I woke up I felt really confused and 'head heavy'
Washed and dressed now though. Going with a couple of friends to see somebody's (another friend's) garden, being picked up at 11.

AnninGlos Report 23 Jun 2025 22:40

Vera yes Bonmarche do 3 leg lengths. 25, 27 and 29 but don't always have all three in. I have the 25 length which is fine but crops all seem to come in one size so are a bit long for me. I can turn up the ones I bought today though, they are not too wide so look ok with rolled up legs.

Oh dear Annx, that did make me chuckle :-D I could just imagine your bin buzzing away. I'd have been frightened to open the lid in case I got attacked by a horde of angry bees. Isn't it a performance trying to contact your mobile phone provider and then make sense of what they are saying? Why does everything have to be so complicated these days? I suppose "it all makes work for the working man to do" as Flanders & Swann once sang.

I'm sorry to hear you're in pain with your gallstones and your knee Mandy. Reactive arthritis is a new one to me but it sounds horrid. You are right about my heart being in my mouth when OH was hanging out of the window. I've learnt over the years that once he's made up his mind to do something he is going to do it anyway so the best thing is to agree but work with him to lessen the risk as much as possible.

I wish we had a Bon Marche in town AnnG. There is one in Bury St Edmunds and I know several people who shop there. I looked online when I wanted some inexpensive trousers a while back but they didn't seem to cater for tall people. Their longest leg length was 29", no good for me.

The flowers you took to the lady that sells the bunches of flowers sounded lovely Mel. She must have been very pleased with them.

Well, I didn't really get any h/w done today apart from the normal washing i.e. a week's clothes and bedding for the two of us. OH, bless him, was completely getting in the way and I couldn't get on. He's had some ear problems and the doctor he saw last week gave him some spray stuff and said to make an appointment for this week. The pain he had has gone but he is now so hard of hearing that I have to keep repeating everything loudly. Added to that he has had very sore, red eyes since yesterday so he tried ringing the surgery for an appointment. All he kept getting was a message saying they were experiencing a Monday rush and all appointments for the day had gone. He was still getting this message at 2 pm and was a bit fed up. There are 4 or 5 surgeries but all connected to the same computers so I told him to walk to our local one and have a word with the receptionist. He did this and, amazingly, was given an appointment in a couple of hours time. So he walked home again and then walked back later. He's now got an infection in his eyes, probably caused by conjunctivitis, so he got a prescription which was electronically sent to his nominated pharmacy which is a tiny local branch of Boots. They hadn't got it in stock but are going to try to get it by about 11 am tomorrow. So he walked home again. He must have walked 3 or 4 miles backwards and forwards. A good thing was that the doctor said she would check his ears for him while he was there to save him making another appointment with the doctor he first saw about them. She said the inflammation has all cleared up but his ears are full of wax so he's got to contact the local health centre tomorrow to get them syringed. The doctor said that the spray he's been using for the inflammation has softened the wax so they might be able to do it quickly for him. Of course, these days you have to pay and I wondered if there is any provision for people who are on a low income I hate to think that people are walking around unable to hear because they can't afford to get their ears syringed.

It's been a really windy day, mostly cloudy and sometimes coming over quite black at times but still no rain. Indoors it's quite hot so I think I will be putting the fan on tonight. I hope you all manage to stay cool and have a good sleep.

Annx Report 23 Jun 2025 20:11

So you got a few things while you were out then AnnG. It's a good idea to get them when you see things for Christmas. You must have quite a few things to get with the little ones to buy for.

Mandy Volterol has diclofenac in which made me ill after an operation so I steer clear of that! The reactive arthritis you had sounds horrid. These insects can cause a lot of trouble. Where do you get the wash cloths from?

I just had to ring my mobile provider . Martin Lewis gave a txt no to use to see if your mobile conract has ended and I thought I'd try it. Well I got a response saying I had zero credit left with info telling me about changing to my 'new' provider! I panicked then and rang to try and stop it and could hardly understand the girl I spoke to and had to keep telling her to speak slowly. It took a bit of sorting out, but because I have a monthly recurring bundle I don't have a contract and the zero credit will always show, so that if I made a premium call which wouldn't be included in my bundle I would need to top up extra. She didn't explain it that clearly though and how are you supposed to know these things if no-one has ever told you? Somehow I managed in all this to accidentally start ringing an emergency locksmith in my phone and quickly stopped it. A bit later I got a voicemail from her, but could I find where to stop it on my phone.....no! I had to wait till the message options had played about 3 times and then it stopped and I could delete it. Why can't we still have the word 'menu' somewhere instead of things hidden under 3 dots or a ? or !

This afternoon I think I excelled myself. A couple of years ago I replaced our rechargeable hand held window cleaner, as In a clearout, I thought I must have thrown out the charging cable to it. You hang on to these cables for years then forget what they are for. Anyway I bought t a replacement window cleaner and put a note with the cable in a box so I knew what it was for, as I knew it wouldn't need recharging for ages. Well today I noticed the old cleaner in the conservatory and thought I'd put it in the rubbish bin for the bin men to take tomorrow as I was worried about the heat in there and the battery and then forgot all about it. OH came home and decided to wheel the bin down the drive to the road edge ready. He came inside telling me something was 'buzzing' in the bin. I thought it was probably a bluebottle fly in the bin and reluctantly went outside. Well he was right about it being loud and we opened the bin but couldn't see anything so he fetched something to start poking amongst the rubbish cautiously and grinning said had I thrown a sex toy in there!! I had to laugh and then I spied the corner of the window cleaner! He managed to poke the switch and it went off so that seemed to be that. Later this evening after he went out I started to have doubts as I was surprised it had any charge left in it after such a long time. I checked the box where the cable I had was. Well I'd only gone and thrown the wrong cleaner in the bin hadn't I. I went to fetch it out and it was right at the bottom and covered in the dust from the hoover that OH had emptied so cleaning it was another job I'd made for myself!

Good you got a new pair of crops I hope they will be cooler than the ones you have.

I have been in the garden today as it was quite breezey and cooler but we still had sunshine most of the day. I cut some of my ladies mantle and the Hypericum that has nice flowers and seed berries and took it round to Ruth who sells bunches of flowers. She wants more on Friday!!! she paid me for it which I was grateful for. Wehn I came home I started to clear the sweet pea box of weeds and the fern thats grows next to it was right over the box so I started cutting it away and putting it in the barrow when I thought it is in such lovely condition so I sorted 12 stems and took that round and she was delighted. I know she sells her bunches of flowers for £5 but what I took will go well with the flowers she has. Lovely Larkspur, cornflowers, sweet peas and all sorts. So I came home with £4.20 and 6 bizzy lizzies.

My cramp leg has been aching a bit today but I am hoping it will be better tomorrow. It was a nuisance as I could hardly walk when I got up and needed the loo.

Hope you all sleep well again tonight.

Ann yes I've used volterol on my knees but this time it hasn't helped at all, I'm beginning to wonder if its the reactive arthritis come back again I had it years ago when I got bitten abroad and it set it off in my feet and ankles ,it was so painful and I had to go up a size in my footwear as my feet and ankles were so swollen.
You got a few bits in the factory shop ,we don't use a flannel in the shower since I bought the wash clothes we like those .

Oh Anng I see you've made a start on getting a few Christmas bits ,good idea to have a drawer rather than tucking them away and then can't find them.
I like the loose crops rather than the tighter round the leg ones I find those cooler to wear ,they had some nice linen ones but I think they soon crease .

It's been windy all day with lots of black clouds but no rain

Back from town it was windy and not that warm when I went so I had on a long sleeved top and light jacket. It has been very cloudy and looked like it would rain but it didn't I just got a pair of crops in Bonmarche, most of the ones I have are old now and some are in a material that makes you hotter rather than cooler. I also got a couple of things for the Christmas drawer. It was very hot on the bus home which was one of the older buses normally used as a college bus. It is 20 degrees now.

Morning Everyone,

It's reached 16 degrees here and is a bit blowy so much cooler. I woke at 5.00am. dozed a bit and got up at 7.00am and put the washer on and then found a cardboard box and emptied 3 more shelves. OH has gone to a council meeting in the city. I went to the Factory shop for opening time as the town shoppers fill their free carpark if not. They have had a big changaround and some different stock. I bought a couple of flannels. We haven't used one for years with showering, but one would have been handy for OH in hospital. I saw some door wedges, useful to stop the doors slamming in this breezy weather so got those, some gentlegrip socks for me, some kitchen foil and some of the weed killer for the nasty weed that is cheaper there. I got £1.50 off the bill with my last scratchcard and managed to not buy any more clothes! I popped in the shop on the way back and collected the new light fitting for the kitchen that the sparkie coming to fit the ensuite light and fan will also fit. This one has LED bulbs so should save a bit of electricity. I feel worn out so it might be a quiet afternoon sorting papers and shredding.

It's good you got a better night's sleep Vera, but don't get too enthusiastic with the h/w!

I hope you enjoy your trip into town and find something to get AnnG, although it's just nice to look around sometimes.

Mandy it keeps saying we could get showers but there haven't been any yet and we could do with some now. It must be horrid with the gallstones and pain and not knowing what to eat. Knee pain too which I sympathise with. Does Ibuprofen gel help your knees. You can get the 5% tube over the counter.

Mel that time has gone so quickly and I'm sure I would have shed a few tears after a dream like that. I remember how fit and strong he looked when we came to see you that time. Oh that cramp can be agony! I have felt the soreness for a day or two afterwards some times.

16 degrees here so a lot cooler ,I think we had a few showers over night as ths ground was wet, there's sunshine at times but there's lots of clouds some a bit black ,very windy too, its nice to be a bit cooler after all that heat.

My gallstones are still painful so I'm just sitting about just have wait for them to calm down it's such a job to know what to eat as everything seems to lay heavy ,I had porridge and banana this morning , my knees are painful too.

Oh Mel cramp is painful and can leave your calves very sore for a while .

Vera that was a decent night's sleep for you ,don't over due it with the h/w

Moirning girls,

Its 16 degrees here and pc says mostly sunny so I wonder if its going to get hot today?

Slept well up once and back to bed and then woke with cramp in my right calf, O the pain........................Still hurts now a bit when I walk about. Better drink some water after my coffee.

No plans today but do need to wash my hair so thats on the cards I think.

AnninGlos Report 23 Jun 2025 07:02

Good morning all only 13 degrees here so a lot cooler over night and I slept until 12, then until just before 6am.
My brain was all over the place yesterday as I was convinced it was the 23rd which of course is the 'memory date' so it is today that is 69 years since I met T.

Nothing planned although, now it is cooler, I might go in to town as I have something to post that needs weighing and it is easier to get a bus into town and the main PO than walk to the local one.

Good morning all

It was a much cooler night. I still only had a sheet over me but I didn’t have the fan on at all. I slept soundly from about midnight to 3.30 am but have been awake since then. The day promises to be cloudy and windy and at the moment it’s 15 degrees. I haven’t any plans. If it’s a bit cooler perhaps I will be able to face a bit of h/w.

Its been raining here that fine rain just as I was ging to corn the chickens the girls must have thought I forgot them. I think they are starting to moult with allt he hot weather we've been having and are not eating their pellets but wll always eat the corn they have at night.

O vera what are the men like!!!! I would no t have let my man out on the window ledge at 88. there again mine would have done something like that being a retired firefighter. He told me once about going up that longest ladder firemen use and how it uesed to sway quite a bit even in the slightest breeze. It made my knees and legs go funny just hearing about it. I did learn one thing from oh though about heights. WE sometimes park right up the top of the carpark in Barnstaple and going down the stairs you could see right over the rooves of the houses and building and when I looked over I felt like I was going to fall. He told me to turn sideways on and look over and that seemed ok.

I dreamt about oh last night and it was a bit upsetting seeing him in his prime again. I can't beleive it will be three years this coming August 12th. I only had him for 25 years and 10 days and I enjoyed ever minuet.

Yes Mandy, I thought it shows some pickers can't look at the dates. They've already refunded me though so I shall have two free bottles. They also sent a sub for cress they didn't have. I had to smile as I already had a pack of small cucumbers on my order and the sub they sent for the cress was a whole cucumber! I must have puffier eyes than I thought. :-D It's a good idea to use the water for the garden, but men don't listen to us do they. I've been using the water from my hot water bottle and where the hose was leaking at the tap we put a humper under it and used the water we collected in that for watering too.
