LFTs aren't just for testing if you already have symptoms, they are supposed to be used before socialising to make sure you are not going to unwittingly spread it. I think a lot of people don't test which is why it keeps rising. Too late to curb it now that Boris has dismissed it in favour of scouring brownie points elsewhere.

Ann I have windows 10 still Computer man said no reason to change yet, let it settle so I haven't. Busy in and oout of the garden today but I will try and look at the instructions for one drive later. thanks anyway. A walk will probably do you more good.
thanks for the photos Mel, as I said in my email can you give us an idea of the scale of the project, it is difficult to tell but it is fascinating to look at. How much of it is made and how much bought and maybe added to or decorated/painted etc.
I wonder if the puzzle with the tests is to do with population in an area, maybe Vera lives in a low populated area and Ann and Island don't. I have not yet felt the need to test at all, I shall need a lesson if I ever need to.

Afternoon All,
Slept well and it's another lovely sunny day. :-D
It did explain the reasoning behind it in the link I put up a few days ago. The idea was to stop us stockpiling tests before the free date ends. They are supposed to be sharing the tests across districts and making a trickle of them available through the day, but that doesn't seem to be working and I try every day but can't get any. I imagine the delivery slots they refer to may be their own slots that they pay postage to the Royal Mail for.
I can imagine the over 75s ordering them for their families to use before they come to visit them after this month in order to save them having to pay for tests. As I said before I don't think others will bother with testing so much once they have to pay.
Hubby is off to a local match shortly so do I stay in and get lots done or do I go out for a short walk again? Can't decide!
My new card reader has come and seems to have a lot of instructions, so I'll look at it another time.........something else not to lose!!
If you have windows 11 AnnG and just want to unlink onedrive I can send you the site with the instructions I used. There are only a few steps to it.
Better start my next food order now before I forget.

Third time today.
From the GOV.UK site "Order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests
Order rapid lateral flow tests online You can order one pack every 3 days. A pack contains 7 tests. Your test pack will usually arrive within 3 days. It might take longer during busy periods or public holidays.
Where in the UK do you live? England Scotland Northern Ireland Wales
Etc etc etc......
Sorry, there are no more home delivery slots for these tests right now"
Anng, I know you are trying to help. I don't get why Vera seems to be so rattled - I'm having a bl**dy difficult time too love!

I'm sorry to be such a nuisance!!!
I'm using the correct site.
I've successfully ordered before.
I don't know why they say 'no delivery slots, try again later' they just do! 'FGS'
Yes, the site used to say we could order daily but it now says every three days - I find that odd because they can't even deliver just one order!
:-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

:-D :-D :-D @ pigeon post
My test kit has just arrived with the normal post.
I think there is probably only one government site for ordering the free tests. Even if you go through the NHS you click through to the same site. I thought it was all done centrally but now I am wondering if there are regional centres and that’s why I don’t have problems when some others do. It is puzzling.

Maybe Mel's post comes via pigeon post :-D
Island have you checked with Vera if you are using the same web site for ordering, I don't know if there is more than one site. But it is very strange.

Am I being particularly thick? Don’t answer that, lol. I do not understand “no delivery slots” . Why would you need a delivery slot? It comes through the post fgs! I also find it hard to understand how I have no problems ordering but others do when I assume we are all using the same government site.
Island, what’s the problem with being able to order a kit every 3 days? It used to be every day. A short while ago my son had 7 in his household, one got Covid and isolated totally in her room and they all had to test every day for a while so he was using a kit a day.
Mel, does your postman knock and hand you your mail or do you have to collect it from somewhere? Most people have some sort of letterbox, even if it’s on a pole at the end of their drive so I’m intrigued.

Still no joy with LFTs. Getting annoyed now :-| All those questions only to be told 'no delivery slots' when you finally check delivery address. Why don't they ask for delivery address first I wonder? Also, tests can be ordered every three days??? Something not right there. :-|
Mel, how is your usual post delivered if you don't have a letterbox? :-S

Good morning Mel, AnnG and all
It looks as though it is going to be another lovely day. There’s still quite a breeze which makes it feel a bit cooler than it is but I’m not complaining while I can see SUN :-). It would be a good gardening day but I am not going to risk more than a few minutes out there. I haven’t any plans but might try a little walk by the river today.
I’ve just had an email from Royal Mail saying my Covid testing kit will be delivered today. I’m not sure why they email as it’s only put through the letter box anyway but I suppose you could query it if it doesn’t arrive.
Better get moving and get the day started. Enjoy the weather and have a good day folks.

good morning all, it is a beautiful morning and already 6 degrees. I must do my list for tomorrows shop, otherwise it will probably be gardening of some sort or another.
I have never been to Roys but do know about the shops, lived on the Beds/Herts border for 10 years not far from the A1(M) so trips out often took us over Norfolk Cambridgeshire way, not heard of QD or TJ Hughes. Fairly local shops that have not sold out to the big companies.
I do seem to remember that I had a problem changing my Avatar on my Ipad some time back. Love the daffs Ann
I will look at disabling onedrive later when I have showered and am more 'awake'.

I got bored with the film OH was watching so came up to the PC and got my avatar back. It just doesn't seem to work on an iPad.
I had never heard of T J Hughes Ann so I googled and they seem to be mostly in the north of England with one store at Maidstone. QD used to be called Quality Discounts.
I was asking OH about Onedrive and he can't remember disabling it but he presumably did at one time as I have had a look at it and there is a list of documents that are all apparently taking up 0 Kb and if I click on the pictures folder it says it's empty. I don't want to play around with it too much in case I mess the thing up altogether as I am no technology whizz., so I shall just leave well alone.
Now I really am going to close the computer down for the night. Sleep well everyone.

Mine still works Island.
Roys sounds an interesting shop, a bit like T J Hughes? The sort of place where you always come out with something! :-D I've not heard of QD either.
AnnG onedrive has given me nightmares as mine was full after only 12 months and telling me my computer wouldn't work properly unless I paid a sub to extend it.........probably all my photos had filled my free allocation! What it does is safely store your files like documents and pictures in an online 'cloud' storage where you can share them if you want, but is only free for a limited storage amount. I have found it to be nothing but a nuisance and finally found a way to unlink it from my PC as it was causing me to not be able to see any of my photos unless I actually opened them which was a real pain. Unlinking it gets rid of it being visible or being able to do anything, but it can be added back in the future if wanted again. Ask google what it does as there are pros and cons.
You are leaving me behind with your seed planting so I must see if I can do some myself tomorrow while OH is at footie if he goes! He hasn't been to a match for a few weeks.........not so keen on the cold lately!
I can just imagine the shudder at hearing 'the cutting of the thing with stems' Vera. Luckily it was something that needed cutting this time. :-D Those dogwood stems are lovely though in the winter.
Mel OH filled his car today and it wasn't empty and it cost £20 more than usual. Tell OH you need a pony to tow the mowers now like posh people in big houses used to have. We also had a notification from our energy providers today suggesting we pay about £70 a month extra! Extra jumpers instead I think and quicker showers! It may be the right time to get a slow cooker too.
I'm off to bed now as I feel tired. I hope everyone has a good night's sleep.
