Evening all,

Oh Ann I did laugh about the moth lol how the devil did it get in his clothing .
My Lettuce seeds are up and he tomatoes and cucumber .

Ann I hope your bus pass turns up ,there are some good people who would hand it to the driver ,you've checked all your pockets?
That's good your jabbed I'm sure I heard on the television at lunch time some people are having a fifth jab ,first time I've heard that mentioned .

Vera I hope your garden wasn't cropped to much while you were out :-D I bet you had a good look round when you got back.

Mel I watched that Simpler Life last night ,it's on again tonight, so thats your little shop ,they thought the chicken was pricey at 18 pound .
I had a Google and it just said it was filmed on a forty acre farm in Shebbear.

We have been out in the garden for most of the day its been lovely and warm out in the sun we got lots of odd jobs done and had coffee out there sitting on the bench .
Max has been sunning himself he lays out with his paws crossed sniffing the air.

I told him it had probably munched some holes in them Mel and that moths tend to go where nothing has been disturbed for a while!! :-D That's good you got 4 eggs today!

Like you I have ended up with backache, also sore knees after pruning 2 shrubs that were overgrown, oh and also removing more weeds. I planted some old lettuce seed and some lamb's lettuce and OH has filled my 4 watering cans for me.

What a shame you have mislaid your bus pass AnnG. Hopefully it was handed to the driver or found on the floor of the bus and you will get it back. Good you have your 4th jab now before you go away.

Gosh I laughed, it was probably checking the family jewels!! or perhaps it was going to tickle his fancy!!

I cleaned the chickens out this morning and had to wait to do the nest box as Daisy was in there. I left her for a while while I picked up all the sticks that had blown off the ash tree as oh was mowing the orchard. After a barrow load of those and backache to go with it I wandered round to the chickens again onkly to find two missing so looked inthe nest box and Daisy and the old girl were in there and the old girl had just laid an egg so I picked it up and she turned round looking for it. I wonder if she was going to eat it and I got there just in time. Anyway I had a feel under Daisy and there was one of the young ones eggs under her so I took that out and lifted Daisy up and there was another egg under her. So I had one egg this morning and three later in the day so 4 in all. Great.

Came indoors and hoovered the kitchen which always needs doing.

What I wanted to tell you was the shop I go to in the village for my bits and paper on a Saturday was on the telly last night. I watched the program on Channel 4 called the Simpler Life where 24 people were living life like the Amish in Devon for 6 months. The narrator said they went to the shops as Amish do on a horse and cart two miles up the road. I am two miles up the road from the shop. Now I want to know where they stayed at this farm for 6 months.

Good afternoon. Well that is me jabbed again, quite a long queue and only one person doing the jabbing, and one taking details. she was so gentle and quich I really didn't know she had done it. Moderna this time. I luckily got there early for my appointment but went in more or less on time, when I came out the queue was right across the pedestrianised shopping street.
Anyway I go to town early and it was very quiet so had a coffee and biscuit type cake in M&S then wandered, a magazine in smiths, some ear wax softener in Boots, a few bits in the pound shop (well only a couple of bits wer £1. Then a reduced top in Klass and a couple of bits in B&M.

Was feeling quite pleased with myself until I got home and realised that when I thought I had put my bus pass in my bag I hadn't so I must have lost it on the bus. So annoying as I tend to be paranoid over it but I was a bit concerned at how crowded the bus was although masks were in the majority and the person next to me had a mask on. I shall have to wait for a response from Stagecoach and then, if it doesn't turn up I will have to apply for a new one.

Morning All,

Sunny and 12 degrees here. We went to the garden centre first thing and there were no sweet peas or basket plants of any kind which was a bit strange so I will try the village one first thing tomorrow. As no-one was around that early we stopped and had breakfast in the cafe. The cost was a bit eyewatering though, but I suppose we can expect that now. There is a cafe and shop with the one in the village but the farm produce and till are all under a big open canopy outside.

Gwyn how nice to see all those eggs in the swan's nest. A big family already if they all hatch. I have never seen a Kingfisher despite looking in places where they are supposed to be. Such pretty colours.

What a nuisance you need the boiler looked at Vera. No sooner do we sort one thing and another thing crops up. I hope your back is a bit easier today.

Mel I think some more thorough HW is needed here too. I had to laugh when OH got home last night. He was undressing for bed when a moth flew out of his underpants!!! He said it should have been in my purse!! :-)

Better finish ordering some things on line then may go up the greenhouse and plant more seeds.

Good luck with the h/w Mel. You’re not the only one to be a bit lax lately. I’ve just been skimming the surface but everywhere could do with a more thorough clean. I think I’ve been in a “that’ll do” mood for too long and need to get myself motivated.

Well, British Gas are coming on Friday. No idea of the cost. If the fault is with the boiler there won’t be a charge as it’s under guarantee but if the problem is elsewhere it will be down to us to pay. There’s obviously something not right as with a new, more efficient boiler we should be using less gas but we are using more because it is running pretty much all the time.

I have to go into town now to pick up my meds. OH says he will do some more gardening while I am gone. Should I be afraid? Will I find everything cut down to the ground when I get back?

s I have bee very lax lately with doing the project.

Just as well I copied it!

Morning Anng Vera and all,

Beautiful morning here sunshine and blue sky as far as the eye can see. Pc says 7 degrees and a clear pic of the sun. Not sure about how windy it is as not been out yet.

F & C's night so no cooking for me today yipee.

That was lovely to see theKingfisher Gwyn a flash of bright blue as you say they are so very fast. We had one in the garden once and oh did get some shots of it on his camera but the pics are so big I don't know how to send them.

I think I need to do some housework today as I have been rather lax with doing the project.

Good morning AnnG and all

I hope your jab goes well.

It looks like it’s going to be a lovely day again. I’m not sure how the day will go as I woke at 6.30 am to hear OH pottering about on the landing where the big hot water tank and various controls are. We now have a problem of our boiler running nearly all the time and it shouldn’t be, so he is trying to see the reason. If he can’t sort it he’ll have to ring British Gas.

Your swans are doing well Gwyn and how lovely to see the kingfisher. I haven’t seen one for several years.

You have all been busy ladies today.
Such a beautiful day today. It was almost like summer.
It just makes one more ready to get out and be active doesn't it?

A friend had suggested a walk together, so we met this morning and first went to see the swans. One was sitting on the nest, but got up to resettle herself and we saw 7 eggs under her now. I don't know if that's about it or whether there will be more.?

We walked about a mile alongside the water's edge and then stopped for a short while to sit and chat at one of the picnic benches there. Suddenly there was a flash of blue and a magnificent kingfisher darted over the top of the water.
It was beautiful and a long time since I last saw one.
A gentle stroll home made a pleasurable end to the morning.

Vera that was not very fair leaving you all the indoor jobs so by the time you got out in the sun your back was already tired. I have to say I did finally sit down in the sun with my book at 3,15 for about an hour.
At least you will be getting something done, even if it is further to go. Better than waiting.
4subs is quite a lot, they are getting worse. I just had two subs both acceptable

Ann it would be 6 months fir me on 2st April from my last jab.
Good to keep up your walks your legs will be getting stronger.

Evening All,

A lovely sunny day again. I'm all trimmed and neat since my hair appointment. It took 2 hours today for a shampoo, cut and lowlights, but the hairdresser wasn't busy and I wasn't in a hurry so we had a good natter. I was asking her about the fashion show in London she recently went to. It is about the 5th she has done now and this one had ballet dancers in it and she said yes, they do dance. A team of them do the models' hair and she said they submit CVs and the best are selected. Afterwards we went to pick up the tests from the chemist and they gave OH 2 boxes which was good. I see Boots have confirmed they will charge £17.99 for a pack of 4 tests!! So our 14 tests we got today will cost nearly £64 from them next month.

OH did some notes and is at a meeting 30 miles away just now. It is a while since he wore a suit, but it was good to see him looking smart. We both did some more weeding and he cut down more of the Acer that has to go and I went in the greenhouse and planted some seeds.

I've done some washing and also booked hearing tests for us on Friday. We haven't had one since before the pandemic and they have said every 2 years in the past.

It's good you got your 4th jab booked AnnG. It is just a week short of 6 months since I had my booster, but I am 3 and a half months too young to get the 4th jab.

Good idea to take the appointment elsewhere Vera. Different people may have different ideas as to what they recommend for you. You have still got plenty done despite your poor back. Frank hasn't been on FB for a year either now, not since last March. It's a shame as we enjoyed his company and 'adventures'. I expect Gill is busy with the alterations and garden now, but she must stop for a rest sometimes, unless there is so much dust around she doesn't want to use the computer.

Oh I did 1 lap of the park today, must try and keep it up!

Now I need to reply to an email from Fitz.

SuffolkVera Report 22 Mar 2022 17:21

I’m back again. 6 subs with Tesco today which is a lot for them. They were all to my benefit – I got more for my money and 5 of them were very sensible subs but 1 made me laugh. I had ordered a particular pack of streaky bacon which they didn’t have, so you’d have thought they would have subbed with something like thin back rashers. No, they sent me 2 large gammon steaks. As streaky is usually either fried crispy for breakfast or wrapped round chicken breasts or sausages I’m not sure how gammon steaks would work. As OH likes them and I was getting them for about half their normal price I kept them and they are now in the freezer but I do wonder what goes through a packer’s mind when she/he is choosing the subs. They hadn’t got a frozen pastry desert that I had ordered and the packer clearly couldn’t choose between 2 other things she found so she sent me both. I’m not complaining about that.

What a beautiful day it has been – not that I have seen much of it. OH asked this morning what needed to be done today and then chose to “help” me by doing all the outside jobs while I was stuck in with the ironing and loo/bathroom cleaning! Oh, and sorting the shopping as well of course. He has also been out twice for a walk. I decided after lunch that I needed to get outside so went to do a bit of gardening but after 15 minutes my back was screaming Enough so I had to stop. I could have just sat outside but I’m not good at just sitting about unless I have someone to sit and chat to.

I had an email from the physio people telling me to carry on with the exercises but to get an appointment booked now and giving me the link to do it online. So I went in to the site and was asked to put in my birthdate and it just kept saying no appointments available. It appeared only to be booking up to 7th April. I had 3 goes and still got the no appointments box. Under that there was a little box just saying “Show” with no indication of what it would show but I pressed it anyway. Apparently there were no appointments available at my local health centre but there were a few elsewhere, so I have booked one for 6th April in another town. It means a round trip of 25 miles instead of 3 or 4 but at least I am booked in somewhere. It’s also another 2 weeks away and I think I’ll be well on the way to recovery by then but I shall go anyway and have a chat with them. Wouldn’t you think the site could say something like “Press Show if you wish to see available appointments at other centres”. I’m sure a number of people will just give up trying if they think there is nothing available.

Thanks for telling me about the jab AnnG. I think our 6 months is up around 11th April so I’ll ring the surgery before then and see what is happening. I know the pharmacy where I collect my meds do them so I might try there if the docs aren’t doing them for a while. I have had an email from my chiropodist to say she is opening in new premises from 5th April and will be doing a full week rather than a couple of days so more chance of getting an appointment at a time I want to go.

We had an interesting talk at the Club last night. It was a talk on recycling and the speaker was from the company who run all the recycling facilities on behalf of our local council. It was a good talk but I found the speaker irritating. She was very bouncy and jolly, gabbled away at a rate of knots but dropped her voice at the end of sentences so not always easy to understand. It was good to find out that our general household waste doesn’t go to landfill now but gets turned into energy. 30,000 homes in our district council area are powered in this way. A drop in the ocean I know but it’s got to be better than just dumping the stuff in landfill.

I guess Frank has given up on the thread, maybe he finds using the computer a trial now, but it would be good to hear from Gill as it’s been ages since she posted. I hope everything is OK with both of them.

I’d better come to an end or I’ll be rambling on forever and I need to get plants in and close the mini greenhouse down. It still gets cold at night.

As AnnG says, Mel, I should stick with copy and paste if I were you. You must be getting so frustrated. I usually only type straight on the thread if I am only going to do a few lines. I’m doing this in Notes on the iPad.

You have been busy in your garden AnnG and well done in getting another booster jab sorted. Is this the fourth jab? It’s nearly 6 months since our third but I haven’t heard from the surgery yet and they usually ring us.

Posting now as Tesco have just arrived. Will bbl

AnninGlos Report 22 Mar 2022 12:11

Wise to copy and paste Mel.

I have just booked my spring booster for tomorrow. Unfortunately it is in town rather than at our good vaccination centre in the village, not heard anything from them yet. I wanted to get it done before going away in April so that it is out of the way. It means another bus journey which is not what I want but hopefully it will be ok.

Been down the garden and sorted out my ferns and around where the Hostas grow so that is all clear now. Next job is to sow the Cornflowers and poppies and other wild flowers.

I think it must be my fault why the post disppear as I seem to touch something on the keyboard that does it. what I don't understand is why I get the last bit I typed.

I was busy yesterday, I hoovered, did washing and gardening and ironing.

Copying everything this morning.
