Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Mar 2022 15:21

Suns been out and gone in again and now its just grey and pc says rain to stop but it has'nt been raining here so I don't know where that came from and its 16 degrees here now.

Oh's cheap pc he bought for his new toy was playing up and the hard drive has gone and he he all his files on it. I said it was unusual for him not to back it up with something. He's had one of the old pc boxes out and he has at least got it working again but not got the files back. You have to pay for these files for the new toy.

Your plants sound really nice Ann and I wish I could get a tom plant of gardeners delight. My four I said I had turned out to be three and a weed and I have room in my klittle greenhouse for four plants.

Hope Vera's heating works ok now and dos'nt keep running now its got its new part.

Not done the dead heading......................got lost in the work room for a while.

Same here Vera 11 degrees but feels colder. I wore a sweater and a short jacket when I went on my walk and was just comfortable.

SuffolkVera Report 28 Mar 2022 13:01

Gas man has been. I hope the part he’s fitted is going to solve the problem. OH is getting us a sandwich and then we’ll go to the g.c. You got a good selection of plants Ann.

The sun is out here now and apparently it’s 11 degrees though it doesn’ t feel like it.

AnninGlos Report 28 Mar 2022 11:53

:-D Can't help it Ann, every time that you say you are waiting for the blind man I see this man with a white stick and a guide doG!
You did have a good spend will you keep the Rhododendron in a pot? You got some nice plants.

Vera, hope the wait is not too long and is productive.
The sun is just about coming through here but at 7 degrees it is chilly out there. I am keeping the greenhouse closed up as it seemed too cold to leave it open.

I think once the dier finishes I will go for a walk. :-)

Annx Report 28 Mar 2022 11:44

Yes I got quite a few plants Mandy. Some runner bean plants and a tomato plant that will be earlier than the seeds I planted, a dwarf purple rhododendron, a lime green grasslike plant, 2 alpine pinks, a pink saxifrage, a pot of sweet peas and a creamy white coloured stonecrop. I also got slug bait and some plant feed.

I meant to say that if anyone would like a few of the African Marigold seeds they sent me loads of, just let me know and I'll send you some. The variety is 'Crackerjack' if you want to look them up.

Afterwards on the way back I went in the village to the carwash and got my car cleaned, the first time since before the pandemic! The chap took one look and said wow! I don't think he was admiring my car either, just seeing the green growing on the window rubbers etc. It took them twice as long as normal as the wheels took a lot of cleaning, but cheerful as ever and only charged me the small car price of £7.

Well I'm doing the same as you now Vera, waiting around for the blind man and can't settle to do anything!

Mind your back with all the bending if you do the dead heading Mel.

Good morning everyone

It was quite foggy first thing and is still a bit misty-murky. It all looks very grey though the weather app is calling it light cloud.

I hope you get Asda sorted out Mel and your delivery turns up OK.

Did you get what you wanted at the garden centre Ann? We are hoping to go to Dobbies this afternoon. It’s not our nearest g.c. but it will give the car a run to charge the battery and OH should be able to get the pots he wants there.

I’m a bit in limbo at the moment waiting for the gas man to come. I can’t really get on with anything much till he’s been. I hope he’s managed to get the part and turns up to fit it. They are usually reliable but when you are sitting around waiting you always wonder if workmen are going to arrive.

Better go and make a coffee. It will pass another 10 minutes.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Mar 2022 10:23

Morning All,

Bit duller out there today and pc says 7 degrees and partly sunny. Its not at the moment.

I have been trying to sort Asda out as they keep saying they are having trouble with the delivery pass. Oh has looked into it and says they have taken the money but they keep saying they hav'nt taken it. I just hope they come tomorrow with what I have ordered.

Nothing planned for today so will just see what happens when I get myself together. I need to do some dead heading of the daffs and there's an awful lot of them!

Morning all,

I can see blue sky now after a very foggy start ,not sure what we're doing today but I'm sure we'll find something to do .

Anng sometimes you just need that one piece of the jigsaw and then a few more bits follow but it's finding that one piece isn't it .

Ann hope you can find what you want at the garden centre , it will be nice to get your blinds up and hopefully they will block out those headlights that wake you up early .

Right coffee first then I'll find some thing that needs doing no doubt .

Annx Report 28 Mar 2022 08:41

Morning All,

Sunny here but chilly if the conservatory is anything to go by.

OH has a doctor's appointment this morning and I am nipping to the garden centre now. The blind man has changed the appointment to lunchtime now, but it doesn't matter as we have the chicken and bacon pasta with salad for lunch the day after the food delivery.

Better get going! BBL.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Mar 2022 07:43

Mandy, If you look at the photo I sent of the picture of the jigsaw, the main piece to do is the whole of the dog's face. I have two large trays full of all the likely pieces of the dogs face which are all very similar and another of the peripheral bits which are all similar except for a few red one which will be for the last poppy which is more of less central. It would take all day to try individual pieces in one spot. Yes this is what I normally do but on a smaller scale, At the moment it is more finding a piece to lead me in to a group of pieces.

Good morning all, very foggy here at the moment. Pleased that I don't have to go out.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 27 Mar 2022 18:25

Evening all,

It's only been 13 degrees here today ,sunny but really chilly in the shade with the breeze
Son and dil came to pick Lacey up and brought me some nice pressies and a card for mothers day.
I had a nice magnetic pad for shopping lists that will attach to the fridge ,a smelly candle and a nice little arrangement of flowers in a long tub .
We haven't done a thing this afternoon oh yes I did I potted my cucumbers up into pots as they had got quite leggy in the trays I put them in we're always tired after the children come plus we lost an hour with putting the clocks forward.

Anng I find if we get stuck with the jigsaw I try one piece at a time in one spot until I find the piece that fits then I do it all again in the next spot ,we finished ours with the dogs and have started another one which has a lot of green as it's a picture of an allotment, we swapped some of our jigsaws with dil's mum and dad and this one is one of theirs, not sure if we'll finish it as we're now doing more in the garden .

Ann you might both still be feeling the effects of covid I know when son and dil had it they took a while to get back into things but I think I would have been the other strain they had so different effects maybe.

Lacey thought it was fun cutting the bottoms of the cardboard loo roll tubes to make little pots for the beans to go in in a few weeks we've been saving them since before Christmas so there was quite a few to cut and fold ,I did that last year and it worked well and saved using pots and they just rotted in the ground .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Mar 2022 17:41

Those aches are strange aren’t that Ann several people here have had Covid but not mentioned that side effect. So far I don’t seem to have any side effects from the booster.

I had another short stint at the jigsaw and managed eventually to put four pieces in but gosh it is a real slog.. I actually have not done much today except the Tesco shop.Just two subs both were acceptable replacements of similar things. Plus a friend called in this morning for a catch up so that was two hours gone.
It has been sunny and cloudy and quite a chilly feel when the cloud came over

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 27 Mar 2022 17:20

It's similar here Ann; sunny after a cloudy morning and about 13 degrees though there is a real nip in the breeze again. That's a lot of subs in one order. Your mention of prices going up reminded me that I want to get some stamps in the next few days before they go up again. I'm sorry you are both so achey and your knees are puffy. It will be interesting to find out if they are after effects of Covid.

I haven't done a jigsaw for years AnnG but I remember that they can be very frustrating, particularly when so many pieces all look the same. Think what a sense of achievement you'll get when you do finish it.

I am feeling quite headachey at the moment and can't stop yawning but I know it's because I have had a week of bad nights. I know if I lay down now I would go to sleep but then I won't sleep tonight so I am trying to stay awake.

OH spent all yesterday afternoon splitting up some hostas in pots that are far too big now. He wants some more big pots and so after the gas man has been tomorrow we are going to a garden centre. OH wanted to go yesterday but I said that as it was the weekend and a beautiful day it might be crowded. I thought Monday would be a less busy day.

I'm not sure what I have done all day today. I cooked our normal Sunday roast dinner but otherwise I seem to have just faffed about and achieved nothing. I wandered round the garden thinking I ought to do something out here but just couldn't be bothered. My mojo has definitely gone AWOL and I hope it finds its way back soon.

We have new neighbours in our little Close. The elderly lady who lived in the end bungalow had to go into a home and she, with the help of her daughter, put the bungalow up for sale. They got a buyer very quickly and everything was proceeding well and had got to the signing of contracts stage when the old lady died. This meant the bungalow was still part of her estate and the sale had to be frozen until the daughter got probate which seems to have taken forever. Luckily the new buyers were prepared to wait and they moved in on Friday. I haven't seen them yet but they were on their drive when OH came back from a walk yesterday so he introduced himself. He said they seem pleasant and are much of an age with the rest of us so will probably fit in well.

Annx Report 27 Mar 2022 15:10

Afternoon All,

It's up to 12 degrees here now and sunny after a dull start. Most of our clocks reset themselves but a few including the oven and car don't. Apart from clearing one of the window sills we are ready for the blind man now. I don't think there will be room for anything on the window sills with the vertical blinds so I will have to think where to put them.

Lunch came early and was very nice and now we are waiting for the food delivery. Very disappointing with 1 out of stock and 10 subs which were very poor on the whole. Ready to eat prunes replaced with raisins! Milk Chocolates replaced with plain chocolate ones, brussels replaced with a cauliflower when there was already cauliflower on the order etc. :-S

We have both been very achey the last day or two for no apparent reason and my knees are more puffy than usual and we thought it might be covid after effects. Come to think of it, a friend who had it a fortnight before us was saying how stiff she is every time she does anything now. I must ask if she is any better now.

Another bedroom window that the sun beats on needs the sealed units replacing now since last year so that's another job to get on with sorting before prices climb !!

That jigsaw is a real trial isn't it AnnG. You'll have to try every piece in the box in each position in the hope that something that looks unlikely will fit. I was reknitting some of my hat pattern last night as it didn't look right! lol. I don't like to be beaten, but it looks like I might be wearing it next winter now. :-D

Hubby said the roads were so busy yesterday, with queues in places. Even the match had a lot of spectators which he thought was because no premier matches were on. He still found a spot well away from everyone.

Better make sure there is space to do the wipedown now, but there won't be much to do.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Mar 2022 15:05

17 degrees here and still sunny but a very chilly breezy wind.

Had lunch and am going to wash up and then go back to my craft as my back is still aching from the gardening the other day.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Mar 2022 10:04

Well cloud came over and we soon lost the sun 7 degrees now but not tempted out into the garden yet.

It is not for want of trying Vera that I have not finished the jigsaw almost all the pieces left are grey, brown or cream in various shades with nothing to latch onto. I need a piece as a break through but it has not happened yet and most days I have tackled it.

Good morning everybody,

nice morning here today with plenty of the yellow stuff and a clear blue sky.

Think I will do as your going to do Vera and potter.

Morning AnnG and all

You just beat me to it this morning AnnG. Dull and cloudy here and the forecast for the week doesn’t mention sun at all. Go on, get that jigsaw finished ;-). I’ve no plans for the day so I expect I’ll just potter.
