Hope all goes well for the day Vera. Lots of stories, lots of laughter remembering your brother. Have a safe journey.
I am sure this is how we have to live now. This is the part of the country now with the highest infection rate and of course is full of visitors from other areas. Except for Keswick we have not seem Nancy visitors though. We just have to keep our fingers crossed the worry is in only a couple of weeks L and J have a river cruise on the Rhine booked.
My immediate problem is to cancel my Tesco order for Thursday.

Sorry to hear that AnnG. You may be OK. Daughter had it but granddaughter didn’t even though they were living together in a small house. You’re up to date with all your jabs so fingers crossed for you. We are just about to test ourselves before we meet up with lots of people later today.

So now we have hit a problem. This evening Joe tested positive. Daughter and I so far negative and no symptoms. So that will extend my stay here. And it is wait and see time. He is in the other room and everything he has touched has been disinfected. He will sleep I. The spare room and use the bathroom. Luckily there are also two en suites. So fingers crossed.

Here I am, back again like the proverbial bad penny. It’s been quite a hectic couple of days. Wednesday night I went to bed with a migraine and just couldn’t sleep. I tossed and turned till after 6 am when I dozed off for just over an hour. I got up, had a glass of water and put the kettle on. By then OH was up, took one look at me, told me I looked terrible and sent me back to bed. I got another 2 hours sleep and got up again at 10 am. I spent the rest of the morning doing quiet, easy jobs. In the afternoon a friend called round and stayed for nearly three hours. By the time she had gone and I had cooked us a meal I was shattered again.
This morning I was getting stuff ready for tomorrow. Then we dashed to the other side of town to deliver a birthday present. Got back, started on another job and our friends M & V called in unexpectedly. It was nice to be able to sit in the garden and chat for an hour but by the time they left I was really behindhand. We grabbed a sandwich and I got the veg prepared for tonight. Then I decided to do a couple of garden jobs that wouldn’t involve too much bending and stretching. I got all my geraniums out of the mini greenhouse, tidied the plants up and gave them their first thorough watering since I lifted them in the autumn and I repotted 5 argyranthemum cuttings that were outgrowing the little pots I started them in.
We’ve had one other “major incident” over the last couple of days. I was using my computer yesterday and clicked on Outlook to send an email and all I could get was a message saying the file could not be found. It didn’t matter what I did I couldn’t get it back. All my emails, contact list and calendar were gone. I was in a bit of a panic. OH has been playing with the computer for several hours today and, bless him, he has got the Outlook programme and emails back. He can’t work out how I lost it and he’s not sure what it was he did to get it back. The contacts list and the calendar are still missing but fortunately I still keep a paper address book and handbag diary for that very reason.
Well, we are all geared up for tomorrow’s Celebration of Life for my brother. It will be good to see family, some of whom we haven’t seen for about 3 years. Son, dil and 2 of his girls are driving down from Yorkshire and are driving all the way back in the evening so it will be a long day for them but I am looking forward to seeing them again after several months.
I am going to go to bed soon with an easy read book in the hope of getting a good night’s sleep. I hope you all sleep well too. Sweet dreams.

That sounds a nice walk AnnG. I had to look for Silloth on the map as I don’t know that part of the Lakes much at all. I’m glad the weather has stayed reasonable for you. It has been beautiful here, a bit breezy but otherwise like a warm summer’s day. Plenty of sun here Mel.
How sad for both of you to lose your fathers at such a young age, Ann and Mel. My mother was only 58 when she died and it is far too young.
I hope you get good results from your scan Ann. You were out early to the garden centre. By the time I get around to getting some plants there won’t be any left. You asked what we had to eat when granddaughter came. We all have the same and I did individual shepherd’s pies made with Quorn mince perked up with plenty of steak seasoning, tomato purée, chopped onion and baked beans. I put a big dish of grated cheese on the table for putting on top of the potato for anyone who wanted and some salads as a “side”. It must have been OK as all that was left was a little salad.
Gwyn, did you get to see the swans and could you see how many eggs Mrs Swan is incubating?
I think I’d better post this now, then go and cook our dinner and come back later to tell you what else I’ve been up to.

Good afternoon all. Still grey here but dry although no sun.
Both your dads, Ann and Mel were young to die then, how sad.
Before we went out I watched from my bedroom when the farmer arrived in the field over the fence to feed the sheep. It was funny watching all the sheep plus the lambs chasing his van. They obviously recognise food delivery.
We went for the walk at Siloth. It is a very flat and quite long promenade and the sea comes right up to the wall at high tide which it was. The sea was really clam no waves at all as there was not a breath of wind. It was not cold but not that warm. We had coffee in a nice cafe that was full of posters etc in memory of Kathleen Ferrier the contralto with a beautiful voice who died when in her forties in 1953. Apparently she came from Siloth.
Behind the promenade there is a large expanse of common land with plenty of space for children to run around. To one side of this was an area of beautiful daffodils and tulips and also several large bug hotels, bird feeders, a bee ‘hotel’ and all dirts if wild life attractors. Then nearby was a replica Lockheed Hudson aircraft mounted on a pole as a memorial, the model having been made in Workington
Across the sea we could see the coast and hills of Dumfreece and Galloway, Scotland although not as clearly as we have seen as it was hazy. We walked quite a way and then sat chatting and people watching looking out over the sea before walking back to the car and home for lunch.

Afternoon All,
I was up with the lark and at the garden centre about 3 miles away that has the till under a canopy outside by 9.00 am. I was the only one there and got a nice selection of plants for the wall pots and some for the other pots. Some are plugs for me to grow on. All the tom and bean plants had been sold so I shall have to hope my seeds grow.
When I got home OH said he would come for a walk with me so we went down Whistle Way, which is the old rail track from the sand and granite quarries at Huncote to the station in the next village. It was 18 degrees according to the car so it suited me in my short sleeves as it is quite shady. We met an old boy who was telling us how he remembered when the track was being used and would get told off by the train drivers when he and his friends used to play there as young boys. We went further than I've managed to do recently, so I was quite glad to get back to the car.
We had soup for lunch and I ought to go and put some of the plants in next but am resting up a bit first. :-) :-)
I see what you mean now AnnG. I hope you had a nice walk. It is nice to see the sea and breathe the fresh air. I will miss that if we don't manage it this year.
Both of our dads died this month in 1979 didn't they Mel, both with heart attacks, mine on the 28th aged 59.

Your walk sounds nice Anng have a nice time walking by the sea hope there's not an on shore wind blowing to spoil it.
Pc is saying 17 degrees and sunny but I am not seeing any so perhaps I have missed it for today.
My dad died on Good Friday a Friday in 1979 so I am always sad on this day but more so on the 13th.

Sorry was it not explained properly. Genes couldn’t take my money because they had my old CC. number. I had to have new cards after T died as our cards were in his name with mine as second used. They won’t let you just transfer to one name. It is ok now I have managed to change the number.
So much building going on and in Gloucester too lots of flats for students. I wonder if it is because there are fewer private landlords for students.
Glad you got the scan out if the way, hope the bruise goes soon.

That's good you got some chinos instead of the trousers AnnG, but it sounds like you had a puzzling time with your CC. I wasn't sure what you meant about the 'renewing' as I just get a fresh one in the post when the old one expires. The building work retaining the church front sounds nice and retains a bit of history too.
I've had my scan and got a big bruise from where the canulla went in. On the way home we went through part of the city to see where OH could drop me off at the hospital I go to for my next appointment and so I could see which building to go to. My word, what changes there have been and hundreds of multistorey student flats have been built near the 2 universities, some are 14 storeys high. They've been built on what was land that was the old Freemen's Common and I used to see rabbits there on my way to school on the bus. It's another rare green space in the city that's lost.
We ordered F&C when we got home and tried a different supplier. We didn't have 'large' but even 'small' was a massive helping and we both had to throw chips away. No wonder people are getting bigger!
I have a parcel being delivered on Saturday from Amazon. In addition to having a one time password now when buying, Amazon are emailing me a one time password I have to show the person delivering it. That's something I haven't seen before.
I'm not too happy with the card I started painting so will try and save it before it goes in the bin. It will be nice to have a normal day tomorrow and hopefully get back to my walk if it doesn't rain.

Just had to run the gauntlet and work out how to change my CC number to renew. The email I got was not clear but it was easier when I ignored it and picked up on the ‘renew’ that I knew should be at the top of the page here. That worked ok. But why doesn’t the email direct you to that way to do it.

After shopping we had a nice coffee in the theatre cafe which is large with well spaced tables and table sr ice. Well that is daughter and I did. SiL took himself off to Morrison’s for a couple of bits.
I was very interested to see that they had built some flats where the old church had been but they retained the ornate front of the church which was very attractive. And, no I didn’t have my camera with me.

Good afternoon all. Not doing a lot today as far as I know. This morning SiL had a hair appointment so we all three went in to Workington as I needed to take the expensive jeans back to M&S. This is a small store here but adequate and I bought a pair of chinos that fit ok, so different styles in the same store are different variations of the same size. It was annoying though as when I touched with my M&S card it wanted the pin and when I put in what I am sure is the right pin it said wrong pin. I am sure it is correct but will have to wait until I get home now to sort it. Daughter just put it on her card. It needed to go on an M&S card as there was a discount for smart card holders which daughter is. I think I had the right numbers in the wrong order.

Morning All,
It's 14 degrees and sunny here now. I just had an early brunch as I can't eat or drink before my scan. They ask you to come on your own so I hope I can find my way without OH in this different hospital...........and then find my way back out again to the right carpark as there are about 5 different ones!
Gwyn it will be lovely to watch the Swans and see how many hatch and it must be unusual for them to nest so close to the path. Good luck with your new gate! We need one too as the last lot of wind broke the latch and twisted it.
Mel those deer like the fresh shoots in your garden don't they and it is a pity they don't like the dead stuff as well. Did you manage to get your toms sown? I must pop up the greenhouse now and see if any more cues are poking through.
I wonder where AnnG is going today.
