All packed, just a few odd bits to go in now off early tomorrow morning.
Just been out looking at their garden, it is really looking good but tithe wind is so strong it nearly blows you over. It is not a really cold wind though.

I have not had a reply to the email I sent Gill. Never you tried sending a text Mel.

Morning al,

Dull and very grey here this morning pc says partly sunny and 12 degrees but it dos'nt feel like it out there as there's a very chilly wind again. even oh said to me that was it him or is is cold?

Just the usual today my one day out to the shop for the paper and some bits and deliver my eggs to next door.

Anng I am sure your beans will do you a couple of years so don't worry about getting 70 seeds. Keep them cool and they will germinate next year too.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Apr 2022 08:14

Mel he should send it back and complain, it may be an honest mistake. Was it bought on Amazon?

I have ordered the bean seeds hopefully they will soon come. Not that I will plant 70 seeds I do ‘want that many beans.

Good morning all sunny but extremely windy. I wish we could stop getting this wind, we have had a lot this year.

Been sorting my pond out today. Oh bought a new filter for it, one thats easy to clean like he has on his pond. The one he ordered said it had this and that and when he opened the box after waiting all day for it, it had no uv light a connecter that should go from a four inch to a three in but the pipe that comes out of the filter has a three inch pipe and there shoukd be a connecter for the three inch pipe to another 3 inch pipe so that s no good. The one he ordered had 3 kilos of these little white round bit that go in it and it only had 18 kilos so you can imagine he is really p*ssed off. It mean another £20 for the right pipe and more expensense for the uv light and it has'nt got the swivel connecter either for the return water. Its nothing like the picture he ordered it from as that was the same as the smaller one he has on his pond for his skimmer.

I did a little painting of my craft this morning and stuck some bits together and then went our after lunch and removed aboiut 7 water hawthron from my tiny water lillies pot and oh is going to put it the other side of the pond tomorrow so its covered with wet kitchen paper and a pot saucer.

Still not sown my beans or peas. Last week Monty sowed his cues and I have the same ones.

Annx, I am disappointed that you did not understand the humour in my comment. I thought you were a fun person. I was under the impression that you and your husband were much younger as you always paint a picture of him being quite lively and in need of being told off - hence the 'elf on the shelf' but as he has a white beard 'father christmas seemed more appropriate. No offence intended at all.
Perhaps you should cut me some slack and not judge?
Btw..... have you had a go at any of those free tutorials I sent you? All with good intent and a hand of friendship.

I was pleased I got all the bedrooms dusted and hoovered then I worked my way down the stairs and all through the bottom of the house so a good job done.

Mel the bird table is coming on he's cutting all the bits out for the roof ,I keep going down and having a look ,he has done other jobs though he's painted his two wheel barrows in black hammerite.

I have been hardening off my runners they have had a few days out in the sun but I bring them into the conservatory late afternoon .
Ann I saw on the news at lunchtime that toms, cues and lettuce will cost more this year because of the cost of heating the greenhouses.

Fingers crossed you will all be OK for travelling home on Sunday Anng ,it's good you have your neighbour to keep an eye on your plants and the house while your away .

Afternoon All,

Sunny and 12 degrees here now but there’s still quite a breeze so it feels chilly.

Exactly Vera! I do the same and we laugh as he is the first to admit his shortcomings and he will be the first to tell others to make them laugh too, including the things I do. I showed him the response and his reaction was ‘good grief, how rude.’ He did laugh at the nonsense idea that he might need some slack cutting. He prefers his interests in other areas, helps in ways he can, but eg. has no intention of achieving green finger status, or any other status he’s not that interested in, no matter how much it might surprise me.

I find some of your posts strange too Island. I worked out the one about my OH’s photo, but why don’t you just say what you mean?

That sounds like a good plan for coming home AnnG. Fingers crossed you and daughter will still be ok by then. I bet you will be glad to be home now and will be surprised how much things have grown while you were away. The art course starts late next week, thankfully after my appointments, so I should be able to concentrate. I was interested to watch a recorded programme with the artist Grayson Perry the other night and he said each time he starts a new project he wonders if he can still do it! I know just what he meant! I bought my second lot of Cobra beans on Ebay. They are growing well and are about 3 inches high and look healthy.

Lewis seems to like gardening Mandy as he went with his dad to the school to help out with the garden as well didn’t he. I was going to start hardening off the runners, but saw the weather forecast too and decided to keep them under cover till the cold has gone again.

I must make sure my 3 tiny tomato plants survive as I read today that a few supermarkets are predicting shortages of them in the near future.

AnninGlos Report 22 Apr 2022 11:04

Thanks for the name are they only available from premier? That is good to know Island so I have time to plant some seeds when I get home.

We think we will be ok to travel home on Sunday so daughter will not stay the promised three nights so she can get back for he hair appointment on Tuesday but we will decide for sure later. Actually if we followed the latest guide lines we could go home now without S.i.L b bothering to take another test.

Island it is supposed to be sunny here this afternoon but I think we are under the same blanket as you wish it was a warmer one.

Ann when does your next course start.

Island

Island Report 22 Apr 2022 10:56

Morning.
The sun's still under the blanket here, getting up around 2 apparently'

Anng, it was probably me raving about climbing French beans last year. it was quite a revelation not to have to bend to pick and they were so generous.
Same as Mandy, they are called Cobra, it's the only one Premier have but there must be other 'makes'. 99p and about the same for postage, you do get rather a lot though!

Looking at my chart from last year, I sowed all my veg seeds in pots from the end of April to mid May so I'm a bit early this year. I think I average 15th April depending on how cold/warm it is outside.

How's the bird table coming along Mandy?

MillymollyAmanda Report 22 Apr 2022 09:49

Morning all,

Nice and sunny here but the wind has picked up so if your out of the sun in the shade its quite chilly.

Anng the climbing french bean is called Cobra ,Lewis helped me plan them in the pots last Saturday and they are now peeping through .
The runner beans are all through in their pots and are a out five or six inches tall ,not sure if we will planted them out yet as it's turning colder for the next few days .

Coffee next then I must get on with a few jobs BBL

Morning Anng and all,

Grey day here this morning and pc says rain to stop and is showing a pic of a rolld umberella and weather station thing says 10 degrees.

Anng you asked about french beans, Island grew climbing ones which I think Ann and Mandy are trying this year and I grew Ferrari in big pots.

I hav'nt sown any beans yet

Good morning all. Slept well again last night and hope you all did too.

Looks like a very different day out there, very grey and windy. So another day indoors SiL has decided to preserve the few tests they have left and wait until tomorrow before testing again. Good job I packed my kindle as well as five books.

My thoughts afd turning to my garden. Somebody last year grewdwark French beans I think, or were they some other sort. I could trawl ba k but if anyone can remember what they sere I might try and get some and try them. I have carrots for containers to sew when I get back might try a few other things.. decisions decisions.

No Vera.

Have you not realised that others are struggling without theirs?

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 21 Apr 2022 19:50

Island, haven’t you realised that much of what we write about our OHs is tongue in cheek and said in affection? I can’t speak for the others but I usually read out to mine what I have written about him and other’s responses and we have a laugh together.. in fact, mine is laughing now.

Island Report 21 Apr 2022 19:09

My comments really aren't difficult to understand Mel.
TBH I don't see you slating your man on here, just talking about housework, chucks and the BIG wipe down.
I guess posts revolve around not very much since lockdown?

Do you see me moan about my man? Do you see me moan about anyone?
No.

What else haven't you understood Mel?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2022 18:53

Sometimes I don't understand your comments Island.

On here we are only having a moan about our men and there's no real grievance of them and I expect all the ladies also annoy the men with some of the things we do. I know I do to mine........

Island Report 21 Apr 2022 15:03

'That's very true we have someone to share the work AnnG, "although they sometimes create it too!"
Who are 'they' you refer too?
Don't assume that other men are as 'allegedly' clueless as yours. Cut him some slack, he might surprise you.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Apr 2022 14:59

Afternoon All,

It's 16 degrees here so cooler and we were up and out by 8.30am to get fuel and call at the farm shop at opening time. We stocked up with fruit, veg and meat so I won't need much on my Asda order at the weekend, which is just as well being 1 freezer down so less space.

My knee is much better today so I shall do the walk about 4.00pm when the carpark will be almost empty and OH will be joining an online seminar. Vera it takes me half an hour to do my 2 laps which I reckon is just under a mile. It slopes gently uphill one way and downhill the other side. I understand the 'old biddy' feeling as attempts to do more sets me back at the moment and it's the same trying to do too much around the house. Before the pandemic friends stopped asking me to go out with them as I had to keep saying no as I couldn't manage all the walking. It can be quite upsetting and isolating. Walking was a big part of our holidays in the past and I've walked up Snowdon and back down and we would do published walks in the local paper each week, so it's very frustrating too. Having your hair cut and seeing your friend after will make you feel better.

I bet you are pleased you have the new cover sorted on your little greenhouse Mel. It will be good for your plants if we get this promised cold spell soon. How are last years babies in your pond? Are they showing colour now?

That's very true we have someone to share the work AnnG, although they sometimes create it too! It is good you have someone to look after things while you are away as we don't and have to hope for the best! It is odd that Gill isn't picking up any messages or emails. I hope she is ok too.
