Morning Anng ,morning all,
7 degrees here, blue sky fluffy clouds looks like its going to be another lovely day, yesterday was really hot I had to get in the shade to pot up the tomatoes to go in the greenhouse .
We're off later to see the new additions at sons house they now have two little black kittens to go with the little grey and white one that Chelsea saved from being dumped in the woods ,long story but she saved it .
Thanks for all the photos nice to see them all , must get on as I didn't do much indoors yesterday spent most of it washing pots and potting up so must get the hoover round before we go out and must i remember to call at Roys for more compost .

It was 20 degrees here after lunch and I went up the border and have only just come down and its still 20 degrees. Its been a lovely day and I have enjoyed it in the garden but I did get hot so went to the back of the border where it was a bit more shady.
I had to come down as I needed a drink badly and I hav'nt corn the big girls yet and I can hear them moaning.
Coffee has gone so I better go and do the girls. I did banty before I went up the garden.

As I said in my email Ann I thought it was a good painting. granted the subject is boring but the textures look good to me. Naybe one day you will see the point who knows?
Yes if all three make good plants, three beans will be plenty for me I am sure. I think I can get all three in one container (trough shape but quite deep).

It's hotting up where you are AnnG, just 16 degrees here! That's what's happening with my plants in the greenhouse, all bolting! I bet that was a surprise to see 2 more beans poking through! You should be ok for beans now then.
There is a selection of pictures to paint, things like the corner of a plain, cube building next to a plain blue sky, a single rock against sky, all of which I can't get enthusiastic about. I'll send a couple so you can see what I mean. I am doing the only one that has a small animal in it and I'm enlarging the animal to make it more interesting. Mel, I'll attach last weeks painting, but I'm not really happy with it and need to do a bit more work on it.

20 degrees here at the moment. I have been sitting in my happy place, the first time this year, reading. Only trouble is I could see the rest of the plants needing plantin in the greenhouse but I felt I had done enough for today. I have just noticed two more beans just edging up through the soil in their pots. I only want three so that will be fine for me if they continue to grow.

17 degrees here and after spending an hour in the garden I had to come in as I was getting too hot and tired. I wanted to re-pot two nemesias that had survived over winter but when I dug them out of the large pot it was full of a huge ants nest so it took me a good half hour clearing that out and completely emptying the pot and washing it out before re-filling it and re-planting the nemesias. I have also emptied several other pots and refilled and planted them up with calabrochoa and Verbena. I have some more to do as they are bolting in the greenhouse but need to have a rest first.
Vera we all seem to prefer lunch times these days, perhaps your neighbours are ones who only think it is special if in the evening. I am sure that once there you will enjoy it.
Ann Maybe you will enjoy the painting once you start, is an actual picture of something or abstract colours?
Mel, hope you see the hares again. keep your camera handy.

My beans I ordered yesterday have arrived so I went down the hsed with them and guess what? Yes the others I sowed from old seed have come up, well a few have and one of the saved seeds from the Benchmaster one, of the two seeds I found has also come up so if it grows alright I shall be able to save some seed for next year.
I have washed out my four big tom pots and shall plant them this afternoon after mixing them up some compost and leaf mould. Now I am going up the shop.
We did'nt see your last painting Ann???????

Afternoon All,
It's 15 degrees here so not quite the heatwave I was expecting as yet. I shifted some plants out of the greenhouse to harden off but the Nasturtiums look a bit leggy from being in there so long. I just counted my last sowing of Cobra beans and just 4 came through. I wonder if the cold affected the second sowing and other people's too? I did wonder if the mice had got to mine and must have a dig and see if there are any remains of those that didn't grow.
The new freezer is working ok so it will be a bigger order this time. I can put things straight in there that won't be needed for a few days which will save time.
Yes ERNIE is doing me proud but could do better! :-D I bought a lot more bonds rather than have money sitting in the bank with zero interest and these little bonuses add up.
OH got a phone call to say his new car is on the boat now so it looks hopeful he may get it before the end of this month. I will be glad now the weather is getting hotter with the aircon failing in his present car. I'm hot after a walk and the car sitting in the sun when we get back is really hot.
I look forward to seeing what you have made Mel. I hope you get to see the Hares again and maybe some youngsters too if you are lucky. I haven't seen any more bunnies in the field. You seem to be getting plenty of eggs now and OH and I still talk about how nice your eggs were! :-D
We had a good shower of rain during the night Vera, so OH managed to get the bean poles in the ground this morning. I must admit for a long time before the pandemic we preferred eating out at lunchtime rather than the evening. It is usually far less crowded and noisy and meals are often cheaper which is an added bonus. We also avoided places where there would be children racing around too. A lot of people still aren't eating out much yet and others are concerned about rising prices with everything so it may be ok for the meal with your neighbours tonight.
Our neighbour's caravan has gone and they had the door open on it yesterday so I suspect they have gone to Norfolk like they did before the pandemic. They got a company to move it there last time and stayed a month so I think they've probably done that again. He only towed it a couple of times before that so I don't think he is very confident. At least we will be able to tackle the front garden and get it done without lots of interruptions as he is always on the front these days.
OH is of to a local match and I don't know whether to risk planting the beans around the poles or start this week's painting. The subjects are not very interesting again as it is about colour contrast and getting the subtlety of the hues right.......not my forte!

Thats a shame Vera you have to go this evening instead of during the day or lunch time and when the children are at school.
I wonder if Mandy has one of the children this weekend? and what they will be doing together?

Good morning everyone
It's quite warm but dull with short showers on and off. OH went for a walk a while ago and after he had been out for 15 minutes we had quite a sharp shower. It didn't last long but will have been enough to make him thoroughly wet. I hope he's back soon.
That was a nice little present from Ernie Ann
I don't have any plans for the day. In fact I feel a bit lethargic and am not in the mood to do anything very much. The only thing we are doing is going out for a meal with our next door neighbours tonight. I would rather go midweek and lunchtime but they wanted to go tonight and as this is the meal we have twice booked and twice had to cancel I felt I couldn't say no.
Enjoy whatever you are doing today.

Morning Anng and all,
15 degrees here and the suns out so I may feel like doing a bit more today. I dreamt about my pony last night and treanches being dug across some land where I rode him. He would'nt go any faster than a walk and it took me ages to get where I was going.
I have the usual shop to do and I should let Em have at least 6 eggs this week. Had a few broken ones and it makes such a differece plus the fact we have been eating more eggs in sandwiches etc.
Not seen the hares since but will keep an eye out today as they seem to like the bit of mowed grass over the back of us alongside the trees. I did'nt see it but someone mowed a path round there the day before we saw them.

Good morning all, dull here so far, maybe the sun will come out later 11 degrees though so not cold.
Well I wish I had not bothered about planting the Cobra beans but still only one out of six growing, not a very good result. I might plant another couple, might as well, there were 70 seeds in the packet.

Not another win Ann!!! You must have some large blocks as you keep winning.
Vera the pics were lovely and so nice to see the sygnets as Ann said same age as Gwyn's ones she's watching.
Not done anything in the garden today just could'nt face it as its been cloudy all day. I think Vera pinched our sunshine today. I did do some craft though. Its nearly finished now and I have taken some pics so look out soon.

It sounds like you had a lovely walk Vera and your OH's photos on the mobile turned out well. How nice you saw a Swan with cygnets hatching at the same time as Gwyn. The Chicken Supreme sounds tasty.....I can't remember when I last had that!
My second lot of Cobra beans only produced 4 plants, but I kept the original plants that I thought looked diseased and they look as healthy as can be now and there must be about a dozen plants. My overwintered geraniums are getting tall and a bit leggy now but it isn't the right time to take cuttings is it. I can put 2 in the 2 wall pots and squeeze a couple of other things in with them, but may need to stake the variegated one I have and put some around in individual pots.
We managed to fit a new connector to the water butt that has a hose that comes in the corner of the greenhouse. It's much easier to water in there with it than carry the cans. I've registered the new freezer but had to photograph and blow up the serial number sticker that's inside to be able to read it. I have also had another nice £75 win from ERNIE, but wish he would add some noughts for me. :-D
I still haven't finished the Asda order so better get on with it next.

It has been warm and sunny here today - a beautiful day.
Yesterday we eventually got to Arger Fen. Although there were cars parked by the entrance we only passed one other person as we were walking around. It was so quiet and peaceful. It was lovely to be out among the trees and flowers and the birds were singing their little hearts out.
When we left there we went to the pub in a nearby village for lunch. The few people there were well spread out amongst the various dining areas and we had our little section to ourselves. We had a really delicious meal of chicken supreme, potato rosti and ratatouille. Then we had a wander round a nearby gift shop as I need a present for a friend. There were lots of lovely gifts but not at a price I was prepared to pay, so I left empty handed.
It was a really relaxing day but my back was very sore by the time we got home.
My legs were very stiff this morning and my back was aching but I didn't want to waste the lovely weather so we walked down to the river to see how the swans were getting on. One tiny cygnet was swimming near the bank, closely watched by father swan and there were 4 others nestling down with mother on the nest. Little heads kept bobbing up from under mother's wings. Then she stood up for a moment and I could see she was still sitting on one egg. We walked along the river for a way and then walked back home and I did have to stop twice on the way back but I am really pleased I made the effort.
OH took a couple of photos but again he only had his phone with him and the sun was so bright on the screen that he couldn't see anything so it was point and press and hope for the best. The swans are well protected so we couldn't get close enough for a good photo but I'll email round the one he did manage to get.
Since getting back we've had lunch and I made some phone calls, did a little bit in the garden and sorted my Tesco order for delivery on Monday. Now it's time to start cooking dinner.

Might have to look for another strawberry plant as of the two I planted a week or so ago, one is fine the other is slowly dying, both the dame type, both in the same large container very strange. And of the 6 cobra beans I planted only on is up so far, no sign at all of the others.
