Oh it's this tablet Ann it changes words if your not watching lol
The cat coming in the school must like children then or is it after school when he comes in .
Yes I got a cuddle in and one of the black ones don't know which one as they both look the same until you see the colour of their coller wanted to give my thumb a bite ,teeth like tiny needles .
They all go to the vet this week for their jabs and check over and they are keeping them in until they have all been neutered.
My Lettuce are looking good I got some Webbs wonder which we use to grow years ago, I also potted on four tomato plants that I grew from some seeds from tomatoes that I liked from Aldi ,sweet little Picalo tomato.

No Anng I didn't mean go out after dark you don't want to go tripping over out there I wondered if you could see it out of the window if you had some solar lights out there you might see a bit of movement.
I hope its not a rat .

I hope it isn't a rat AnnG! :-0 At least it is helping you get some compost to use now!

Well 30 years at this house and no snakes so far or even slow worms. What sort of snakes? Adders? I certainly don't want those.

Well whatever is in there must have decided to help me as all the loose earth has been shovelled out of the entrance so I was able to scoop it up and put it in a bucket. It must be having a good dig.

I bet there was a bit of nudge, nudge, wink on the bus when your BIL popped in for a COT Mandy! lol. You made me chuckle when I read you had 'pooped' down to your son's today! :-D HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jake and I hoped he liked his presents. They are good names they have picked for the kittens and I bet it was nice giving them a cuddle. OH said the other night that there is a cat at the school he had gone to. It isn't theirs and despite all the fences and shut doors and them turfing him out he always manages to get back in and find his favourite chair with a cushion to curl up on for a nap. :-) Colin is good making them a hog box next.

That was a good LOGO on the bus ZZzzz.

It would be good if there were baby hogs AnnG. I wonder if they make noises in the nest that you could listen for. As Mel says you can get snakes in compost and I always used to be careful disturbing it in our bins at the old house.

The food came early which is good and is all put away now. A few subs I can put up with, but they swapped the slimming versions I wanted. :-(

I planted up the little lavenders and need to get some lettuce transplanted next. Now the little tom plants has reall flopped I might try 2 leftover runner plants in the pot and see if they will grow in the greenhouse and be earlier than the outdoor plants.

Mandy, I think everyone else is more excited than I am at the moment. to me it is actually a big inconvenience on top of all the hassle of getting the garden back into shape after the winter. I needed the compost in that bin so it is costing me money as well. Never mind I won'y, of course. disturb it if it is a hog. and I am not sure, being on my own her, that I am going to go walking around in the dark looking for it :-D I would probably trip over and do myself some damage with nobody to hear me.

Afternoon all,

Nice and sunny here today ,Jakes birthday so we pooped down to theirs with his presents and card ,had a cuddle with the cats ,they have named them now ,the two black ones are Coco and Chanel and the little grey and white one is called Dior .

Oh Anng that will be good if you have a hog you'll have to have a look out after dark and see if you can spot it .

Ann you asked about the bird table, yes its finished and It had gone over to the school before I realised I never got a photo of it ,I'll see if son can get a photo of it but it will have wait until the holiday as he's not allowed to use his phone in the school when the children are in .
Colin is now making a Hog box for them to have in the gardens .

ZZzzz my husbands bil was a bus driver and years ago he would just pull the bus up outside his house and pop in for a cup of tea !!! and this was when there was passengers on the bus too ,I bet they thought there was something going on a bit like on the buses lol

AnninGlos Report 22 May 2022 12:56

I have looked by can see ni 'signs' except the knocked over quite heavy pot which was on pot feet so maybe not too balanced, easily nudged. that could also of course have been a cat. I looked in the top of the computer bin and the grass has been pulled down off the soil and is completely blocking the entrance, but not a lot of it. I am loathe to put out hog food which I have for the same reason as you Mel. I might try the newspaper tip.

Zzzz yes would be very rare to see a bus actually wait for somebody. The rule is that once the doors are shut they are not allowed to re-open them if somebody arrives before the bus leaves (even in the bus station). I have actually seen one driver open the doors but it is very unusual.

The bottle of tonic was exactly the same. the driver was puzzled but I suggested it might have been a barcode change.

Morning everyone, I was reminiscing with a friend about how we used to run from school to catch the home, it was probably a 10 minute run and the bus was there, we got on paid the 3d fare, only to realise in later years that because it was the same driver every day he knew his passengers and waited for us.
I had seen a logo on a London bus which read 'we run for people who wait, not wait for people who run' How times have changed.

Anngyou may be lucky and have a female hog and she could have her babies in the compost bin. I do hope so. I have only seen a couple of hog poos around the garden this year. I stopped feeding them a couple of years ago because it was encouraging rats. If you strip up a bit of newspaper and tuck it under some flowers near the bin they will take that in the nest if it is a hog.

Morning All,

Sunny and 17 degrees here too.

The mystery Alliums look beautiful Vera! I have about half a dozen but would like more as they pop up between the other plants and add such lovely shape and colour.

It's good your arm seems to be improving Mel. It is a shame about Phil and Robby though. At least the chicks seem to be ok with mum but don't they build nests in some unsafe places.

You will have to see if you can spot any of the hog's calling cards AnnG! I too have a food drop today so better sort the fridge out. I wonder what you will be sent?? I think I will start using the cool box they don't seem to want me to return as well. Our bread will fit in there nicely with the ice packs. I must get the sunflower seeds planted next and there are some small lavender Hidcote seedlings growing in the gravel that I want to pot up before OH 'weeds' there!

17 degrees here now. waiting for Tesco now 11-12. Already planted out a coupe of tomatoes and one extra bean All in containers. A large pot was knocked off its pot feet this morning so I guess it is a hog have board and lodgings in my compost maker.

Morning Anng and all,

Yes that would have been a bit confusing Anng it will be interessting to see what arrives.

We have lovely sunshine this morning and pc sasy 15 degrees. Arm not too bad this morning but it seems to come on if I use the mouse a lot so I shall be staying off the pc a lot today.

When I started it up the page came up with no icons to log in. Restarted it and it took ages to get going. I have been trying to get on here for over half an hour.

Nothing planned for today so will see how the day takes me.

Good morning Mel Oh thanks for that not at all fond of snakes. What sort was it? Or was it a slow worm? I couldn't smell anything.

This confused me this morning. I have a Tesco delivery due so was checking the advance notification of the order, one sub
1 Schweppes Slimline Tonic Water 1L £1.60

Yes recieved the pic of your lovely alliums. What a goreous colour they are. I bet your glad you planted them.

Anng I did think you could have had a hedgehog in the compost bin. You can ususally smell if it a hog as they have a very muskey smell. I did wonder if it could have been a snake as they like compost bins too and a friend of mine had lovely little ones in theirs. They saw the eggs and then the baby snakes.

My mumma Robin is still feeding the babes and the nest is right on the ground at the base of the apple tree. Hav'nt looked as I don't want to disturb her. I wonder how many she has? definately lost Phil Pheasent and Mr Robby so Mrs Robby is doing well feeding the babies.

It is ok someone has found a piece for me to read. I didn’t know but apparently they built less heavy nests in spring summer to sleep in during the day so looks like I have to not use the compost fir now. My fault for leaving the access open at the bottom.

No Ann I know it was tongue in cheek comment. I know I often miss things

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 21 May 2022 18:20

Sorry AnnG. I meant to comment but my head is like a sieve these days. I don’t know much about hedgehogs either but I remember OH used to be very careful when he turned over the compost at our old house as there would occasionally be one there. I assume they go for the warmth. I don’t know what you would do about it though.

I’m only doing Gardener’s Delight toms this year, mainly because I didn’t buy my usual tom seeds so used some left from last year. They’re doing OK and I’ve got 6 good plants so I’ll put 4 in pots down the side of the house and the other 2 can go to a plant sale.

Annx

Annx Report 21 May 2022 17:58

I know very little about Hedgehogs AnnG so wouldn't comment. I only learned the other day that they shed their quills and grow new ones each year. I know I miss things in posts and the same happens with mine as I expect it does with everyone else's. I forget to post things or the thread moves on quickly..

Yes my first FIL introduced me to Gardener's Delight toms Mel and they are like strings of grapes.

I noticed my teenage home has a 'sold' board up today so I'm going to see if I can find it and see what the inside and the garden look like now. :-)

AnninGlos Report 21 May 2022 17:03

It is strange. I expected all sorts of comments and/or instructions regarding my hedgehog maybe could be problem and it is as if I never mentioned it!!!
