That is right Mandy cheer me up. Yes tomorrow. People here seem to be going about their normal business. Just a couple of strings of flags in the road. I have recorded the Jubilee programme as I want to see the fly past at 1pm but it is difficult with three of us doing things.

Morning Anng and all,

Bright and sunny this morning so I hope it stays that way and I am able to go up the border again today. Its 13 degrees here now.

This week has gone very quickly to me.

AnninGlos Report 2 Jun 2022 07:06

Good morning all bright here so far 5 degrees at 7am. up early to sneak in a shower before daughter and SiL get up.

Ann these cars are getting bossy now!! some of the things are good, like speed limit warnings but it is a bit creepy when they communicate with you. I am sure you will find it easy to drive once you have a go.
It is several years since I last went to Ikea but then we actually went for the breakfast. Shame they have moved everything around though.

It took daughter quite a bit longer to get here yesterday but partly because of the heavy traffic and partly because they were in a 45 minute hold up they thought it might have been a vehicle fire as the road was scorched when they passed the spot. It was around Preston.

Have you seen a pic of Mandy's radishes then?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Jun 2022 23:00

Oh said not to take the lawn darts up there as a child could injure another if thrown in the wrong direction.

Spent the afternoon up the border and enjoyed myself. Did'nt do much diggin just a small square bit to take out some couch grass round the peony.

The fourth flower is out tonight.

Evening All,

We up early and went to IKEA this morning. The car had some new surprises for us on the motorway. It does a kind of warble and puts a picture warning up with the speed limit when it is near speed cameras, then lets you know when you are out of their range. When someone cut in in front of us a bit sharply once it flashed up 'CLOSE OBSTACLE'. It also warned us about a traffic light with a camera on it. We are still getting used to the handbrake! The store layout had all changed, they seemed to have less stock (no live plants) and we didn't buy anything as it would have been too much walking to find everything! We did have a nice breakfast at half the cost of our local garden centre though. OH wants me to take the car next time I go for the walk so I get used to it's 'quirks'. Can't say I'm madly keen, but he is right I need to be used to it for times I may have to drive it.

I tried to ring the garage we have used for decades yesterday and the phone sounded disconnected and we suspect they have closed. The owner had moved house and was travelling from Huntingdon every day and since the pandemic they have only opened in the mornings. We suspect he was starting up a garage near where he moved to and was spending the other half days doing that. We will drive by in the next few days and see if it is empty. The premises were too small for the amount of work they had been doing and parking on the sideroads was getting more limited so it wouldn't be surprising. There is a small garage in the village that has good reviews so we'll try them next. It would save travelling into the city and OH said he could even walk home from there.

I love those pink Argyranthemums Vera....did you go back for some? I might see if our usual garden centre has some. They would fill some of the gaps now the big shrub has gone. You will look good in your Jubilee colours tomorrow and your garden will look colourful with all the additions you are planting! I notice a bungalow at the other end of the close has put bunting up today.

It has been sun then heavy rain here, so our soil should be softening up nicely ready for some planting. The Cobra beans have some lilac coloured flowers and we have some small golf ball sized courgettes. These are a different variety to before so I'm not sure what they were now or how big they should grow? Mandy I am envious of your radishes as mine are small and woody. I think I need to look at what conditions they like although I have grown them ok in the past. Did you grow yours inside? Your peas have grown well haven't they and your runners. My cues have started to flower too.

I've ordered a new seatbelt cover today, some binbags and a another coolbox. This one is a bit smaller and handy for taking on holiday and has a stronger handle than the other.

I hope you have a nice break AnnG and it was so thoughtful of the couple to give you the pot of plants in Jubilee colours. It is a shame when people spoil the efforts of others by stealing things. It happened here last year too. Not the sort of thing men would take either, unless it's young lads doing it for a dare or something.

Mel I love the colour of your Amaryllis and those baby birds do look good and strong. That was a cheek them calling your field 'The Green'! Do you think you will find your lawn darts?

I have been up the border this afternoon. Pulled up a lot of nettles from by the big arch and lots of sticky willy and dug out some couch grass. Must remember to call it that. Did a bit of digging in one spot but only about a foot big all around. Deadheaded the little scabious and the pink up there smells divine as do the peonies which are out now.

Came back down and we had a G & T by my pond and the baby wagtail was on the sid eof the pond all the tim ewe were there and only went when oh got up to go.

Forgot the chip van was'nt comeing this week as they had a prior engagment so I have to find something to eat tonight now. Oh is always good about having something quick and easy even if its only sandwiches but I may do eggs bacon and chips.

My fourth flower is now nearly out on my Amerillis and I think I need to feed it.

right by the cathedral in Gloucester there was apparently a beautiful crochet covering, I think on a post box with all sorts of people and animals crochet on it and it has been stolen. There are some awful people around. all that work done for other people's enjoyment and somebody just steals it. That would put me off doing it. (If I could crochey).

Afternoon all,

We've had some light showers this morning they don't last long and there has been a glimpse of the sun at times too ,we went and got petrol and then onto the farm for the eggs they have had to put their eggs up in price because the price of feed has gone up ,they were 1.80 a dozen now they are 2.00 but they are lovely eggs ,we've had them from there for years and I've no idea what the price of eggs are in the shops now as I never bother to look .

Anng that was very kind of the neighbours to bring you the pot with the flowers and lovely that it's in red white and blue .

I noticed the town is getting decorated I expect by the crafters who usually decorate it,they have big well I think they look like polystyrene letters all coloured and glittery, words that say Celebrate, Jubilee etc and outside the church on the railings it says Faith,Hope and Charity in big letters , there's also lots of glittery letters put up in the trees ,not much bunting yet but it looks like they are putting up a little each night ,just hope it all gets left alone .

SuffolkVera Report 1 Jun 2022 12:39

What a nice thing for your neighbours to do AnnG. It's always good to feel appreciated. We are going to tea in next door's garden tomorrow and I'll probably take some flowers. I've decided to wear red trousers, a white shirt and a blue jumper to get in the mood.

I did the ironing, prepared tonight's meal, prepared some veg for soup tomorrow, and filled the bird feeders, but I haven't got in the garden or walked down to the river. OH has been filling troughs and a few bare garden spots with begonias and verbena that I bought and dwarf antirrhinum that I grew from seed. Looks like I'm left with boring weeding and deadheading.

The brightness this morning didn't last long. It soon came over grey again and looks as though it might rain at any minute (sigh).

Good morning all packing more or less finished, load of washing in and daughter on her way. Very damp here so rain overnight.
The amaryllis is a pretty colour Mel and, as I said in y email the chicks are cute.

I had a nice surprise yesterday evening. the young couple who had baby Oliver came to see me with a 5-6 inch terracotta pot containing dark red Verbena, dark blue lobelia and whie nemesia (for the jubilee and a thank you for my share in the baby present. He is a sweetie, wide awake and just lying there looking around. Wasn't that a lovely gesture?

Good morning all

June already, the year seems to be flying by. It’s still a bit on the cool side today but it looks a bit brighter than it has been, though rain is forecast for this afternoon again.

That’s a pretty coloured Amaryllis Mel and those chicks are cute. They look well fed.

I’ve got a bit of ironing to do but no other plans for the day. I’m a bit achey this morning but might try to do a bit in the garden or I might walk down to the river and see how the swans are doing.

Its been quite a nice day today but with the late delivery I hav'nt managed to get in the garden at all today. Windy breeze is a bit on the chilly side though.

Did I say we are having a picnic on our little field up the top on Sunday. Oh has been madly mowing it so it looks nice and Vron asked if it was ok if people bring their dogs and we said yes. If it rains they will go in the village hall and I think they are serving tea and coffee from there too. Bloody cheek they advertised it as On The Green. There will be garden games too so I may take them up my lawn darts if I can find them.

Salad for dinner tonight. Oh has prawns (yuk) and I shall have red salmon tinned.

Banty laid another egg so thats 9 now this year and she's doing really well and flies at me in the morning when I open her cage as if to say what for breakfast mum? I give her some kind of salad or grapes or mealworms which are her very favorite. If she gets out and I need to get her back in the worms always help.

Evening all,
It's been a dreary day here and now its quite chilly so we have just lit the fire .
It was haircut day today and I feel all itchy round my neck , I went shopping early and it was nice and quiet as the children are on half term so I suppose the mums don't venture out to early .

Ann thats good you've got the new car home and it was nice of garage to ring see if you were happy with it .
It must feel strange that stop and start and even stranger to not have to pull the handbrake on .

Oh Vera you won't do that again you'll always make sure that the keys not in the door now after the expensive call out .
How lovely for your granddaughter looking after the turtles I hope she has a great time out there and comes home with a nice tan .

It must be hard to know what to pack with the weather as it is Anng ,you need things that you can layer up and then its easy strip off if it warms up a bit .

Nice to watch all the wildlife Mel I usually stop and watch the squirrels in next doors garden she has a box with peanuts in and they hop down from the greenhouse where they sit and they lift the lid on the box take a peanut out and dart back to the top of the greenhouse and sit and nibble on the nut then back they go again for another.

I have tiny little cues forming and I can see flowers on the toms and the red flowers on the runners ,the French beans are climbing the canes and the peas are about two foot high ,we've had three lots of radishes but the spring onions are very slow .
