Afternoon....

Mandy, sorry I didn't know about your accident until Anng told me yesterday. My aunt had the same a few years back, very debilitating by her accounts. No knitting :-0 you must be so bored. I hope you are soon back to normal.

Anng, we went to the lost gardens sometime in the 90s I think. Fascinating place. Must dig out the photos - pre digital I imagine!

Mel, I had my covid on Tuesday but had to postpone my flu from yesterday due to worsening 'war wound'. How exciting life is these days!

Afternoon all,

Not lot happening here getting washed and dressed seems to take forever as I can't grip any thing Colin has to do things for me ,even going to the loo is hard work

I can tap on here and luckily it spells the word so I don't have to type it all but wrists hurt after holding them down a bit ,I'm supposed to keep them elevated.

You'll like it there its really good but the shop is expensive but has lovely things. It is one of the first places I went with oh 25 years ago. We even got a group up from the village and went in a coach. Been more times since then too.

Morning All,

A bit misty but sun is breaking through. We are off to the garden centre for brekkie and a mooch around The Works etc next.

We are enjoying this series of All Creatures too Mel. I think Siegfried and his brother are particularly good! It will be good to get your Flu and covid jabs done tomorrow.

OH is ready so better go!

Well obviously all my geraniums are still out but they are all in pots and baskets.

No, there are not a lot of people here at all . Having said that the cafes and restaurants seem to be doing well which is good. It doesn’t feel deserted but neither is it crowded. I don’t feel I have been in contact with lots of people.
Trago Mills was good and had a lot of stuff but was more up market than it used to be.

Annx Report 5 Oct 2022 18:57

Sounds like you had another busy day AnnG. I would have really enjoyed a good mooch round Trago Mills and it's good you found a few bits to buy for Christmas while you were there. Have you found places like Falmouth very busy at this time of the year?

I hope Vera enjoyed her trip out to Hughenden Manor today. I must look it up as I've never heard of it.

Gwyn, OH has to wrap up for the evening school meetings he goes to now as it is chilly as you say. Some have coats and scarves on!

The nights seem to be really drawing in now, but the clocks change again in a few weeks time. I really must get some jobs done tomorrow. Have any of you taken your Geraniums up yet to bring in?

Just been to Penndennis castle and Falmouth Maritime museum. Then Trago Mills shop where we bought Christmas bits for the children. Also had a very nice tapas meal for lunch. One shower of rain while we were inside. Sunshine and blue sky now we are back at the cottage.

Annx Report 5 Oct 2022 17:07

Afternoon All,

We had heavy winds here last night and I could hear the doors and letterbox rattling and it was hot as well. We had rain this morning but all is calm and dry again now.

It was my art course this morning and the teacher is adding more complication for us with colour now.

OH had another disappointing trip to the dentist. After recently taking a tooth out for him at last, the hospital has written to his dentist to request him to do some fillings in OH's teeth, but when OH went for his appointment today the dentist is still refusing to do it, says the teeth need taking out and that the hospital need to do that and is referring him back to the hospital again! It's been over 3 years now that he has been bounced to and fro between the dentist and hospital and each keep saying that the other should do the work he needs doing. I think enough is enough now and will write to Patient Lliason for them to see if they can assist, as OH is just the piggy in the middle being bounced back and forth and nothing being done for him for years while they both dispute who should do the work. It's a disgraceful carry on really as he could be in pain.

OH chucks empty packets and things like that away Mel, but if a biro stops working he will keep it which I don't understand!! lol. He leaves miniscule amounts of things like chutney or picallilli in a jar and puts it back and I'm sure it's so I will have to chuck it out and not him. He does throw out the newspapers and magazines he reads though and goes through his clothes to throw old stuff out.

I hope Mandy is managing ok. Another day less till she loses the plaster.

Gwyn in Kent Report 5 Oct 2022 15:12

I haven't done a lot today Mel.
Did a mid colour wash load, which is now on the drier or hanging on the rail in the bathroom.
The wind is really whistling here, so very soon I will prepare the veg. to go in a warming chicken, pearl barley and vegetable casserole for us, when daughter finishes work later( she's upstairs, at home) There will probably be enough for 2 days, so tomorrow's meal will be easy :-)

Yesterday I went into our local primary school to listen to children read.
I stayed away last week, when I had a heavy cold, but it was good to be back helping out. I have to remember to wear layers, as they are still leaving doors and windows open for ventilation and it can get a bit chilly when sitting still.

Afternoon Gwyn. What have you been up to?

I have just had a bit of a clear up by the garage as its bin day tomorrow and I thought I would take the opp to put some stuff in the bin. Why can't men throw things away?

Thought I'd better do a quick post as I probably won't post tomorrow.. It's been a bit of a hectic day so I didn't get a chance to post earlier. The final straw was making the effort to go to a Ladies Club meeting tonight only to find I was down to do the teas with one other lady who was unwell and didn't come. I had completely forgotten about it. Thankfully everything is provided and someone else gave me a hand but it was a well attended meeting tonight so lots of washing up!

Tomorrow we have an early start as we are on a trip to Hughenden Manor near High Wycombe and the coach leaves the bus station in town at 8.30 am.

I hope you are managing OK Mandy with help from the family and are getting some rest.

Not sure we are talking about the same place Ann. The car park I mean that we used to go to was NT and was not far from the small free car park in the centre by loos and near several small cafes and shops selling stones and various souvenirs. From this larger car park you could walk over the cliffs and down into Kynance or you could walk round the cliff path towards the old lifeboat station in The Lizard village. Looking on google I think that car park is still there but I didn’t get to see as there was a prominent sign to Lizard point And a NT car park which was where we went. Tony and I always walked down this road on the path until we reached the cliff, then walked round the cliff path until we reached the old lifeboat station from this side, then back up and into the centre and on to the large NT car park where we had left the car to eat our pasties and yes they were as good today as when we had them. And I see you can order on line.car park.
