mOrning Anng and all,
About the same here I should think Anng foggy 12 degrees and the suns trying hard to come out in the back of the bungalow.
Enjoy your gathering today and your injections tomorrow. Mine are all fine now it was only the first couple of days I really felt them and if I knocked them on a door frame or things like that.
I'm half dressed but still have my jim jam bottoms on so I better go and finish dressing.
My neighbour took two more big bags and two boxes for me yesterday evening which she will drop off at the hospice shop on her way to work.

Good morning all. Foggy out there and 10 degrees. Garden interests meeting this afternoon but I get a break this month and next as other members have offered to host these meetings. Just thinking I had better wash my hair as I have my double jabs tomorrow and it sounds like I could possibly have sore arms, might wash it tomorrow morning though, I'll see later. (not that it is remotely interesting to anyone but me.)

I meant to post this morning but somehow the day has run away with me.
I'm glad all went well with OH and his op Ann. I hope he continues to make good progress. Although it was further away for you it sounds as though that was a good hospital to go to. Free parking as well; that's got to be a plus.
I hope Mandy got on OK at the hospital and is now plaster free.
Yes, people do vary in their ability to tackle repairs and renovations. My Dad, bless him, wasn't too good at DIY. He did the odd bit of decorating but called on relatives for anything more complicated but OH could always do anything in that line. I seldom got any new equipment as he could always repair or adapt things. The painter we have just had in is the first decorator we have ever had and I insisted this time that we got someone in. My nerves wouldn't stand OH balancing on top of a step ladder painting the ceiling at his age. I am useless. I painted a door once and OH had to redo it. Daughter on the other hand takes after her father and has been known to build wardrobes and repoint chimneys.
I haven't seen too many spiders about Gwyn though I have removed the occasional one with a tumbler and a sheet of paper. I smiled at your little boy with his thumbs up sign.
OH is watching some horrid film that seems to consist of a lot of gunshots, squealing tyres and shouting so I'm going to bed with my book. I hope you all sleep well tonight.

Forgot to go up the post box!!!!!!!!!! and not going up now cos its dark or nearly dark and its been raining that very fine stuff that get everywhere and the winds droped before it started so the washing is still out there as wet as when it went out. Poo!
Neighbour came and took two more black sacks to the hospice shop plus a couple of boxes I told her the tolken cds were in one box if her grown up children wanted them if so to take them out and anything else in the way of cd's she wanted. I think there was Avatar and the kings speech and some more.
Hot dogs for dinner tonight as I can't be bothered to cook a meal and they are quick to do in the micro with a bit of onion. Got the rolls out ready and they will do me tonight.

Thanks for all your good wishes which I have passed on to OH. He's certainly not lost his appetite, so I told him options for lunch with a folded towel over my arm like a waiter. He started laughing and then clutched his side, so I mustn't make him laugh again! :-) Gwyn your dark green socks sound even more fetching than OH's cream ones! Thank you and I'll warn him about the itching as he has sensitive skin anyway. I keep reminding him to walk about every hour and he goes up the garden in the fresh air. He's written down his painkiller regime which seems to be working without needing to add the codeine yet. The surgeon said he had 2 different kinds of hernia the same side so repaired both of them.
Spiders? I've seen a couple of big, long legged ones in the bedroom recently and sent them outside again! I hate them in the bedroom!!! :-0
I'm glad the dentist didn't find any work on your or your OH's teeth Vera. :-D :-D You are ahead of me with your geraniums now!
AnnG if OH complains I'll remind him Henry V111 had to wear hose all the time! ;-). I hadn't told him, but today he noticed they'd shaved his tummy!! I told him it could have been worse and further south!
You've reminded me I need to do some washing Mel. I hope you managed to contact BIL. It eases your mind once you get some things arranged.

Hav'nt hoovered yet but done some washing and thats blowing on the line. Its cloudy here now but a good strong breeze so I am hoping its going to dry today.
Need to pop up the post box with a letter.

Pleased all went well Ann and a plus (well two pluses) that you got home in the light and had free parking. Now he must rest up a bit and enjoy those stockings!!
Glad you enjoyed my holiday Gwyn, I did as well :-D No large spiders so far but a busy one in the bedroom window quite a small one, making a very large web. I Apologised to it and soon put a stop to that project and it went fro a trip out of the window.

Lovely to read of all your travels in Cornwall, AnnG. A lovely bright morning here. I do like these late summer days, when it is still warm enough to go without a coat for much of the day.
Good to hear that Annx and OH were able to travel home in daylight, so didn't have the added stress of narrow roads in the dark. I hope OH keeps to the post-op guidance and heals well. Those fetching elastic stockings do itch after a while. Mine were bottle green.
Hopefully Mandy will have good news for us, when she is able to update us. It must be particularly frustrating for someone who is usually so busy crafting.
Has anyone been invaded yet by large spiders? We evicted a huge one from the living room recently and then yesterday, when I was in school, I had to do the same for a very similar size one, which was hiding behind the classroom waste paper bin. I captured it in a plastic beaker with a covering of paper lid. I did smile, when one young lad gave me a big thumbs up sign, as I carried it out to deposit it far from the building.

Morning All,
Another sunny one and no wind which is good.
All went well yesterday. there were only 2 ops like OH's and the other patient cancelled so he was first. The journey was horrid with heavy traffic, half mile queues at roadworks and people speeding everywhere, but the hospital had much better parking than the city ones and was free!! I fetched him at 5.00pm so it was still light which was good and he's fine and slept well last night. He still has to wear the stockings for 3 days which I can tell he's not keen on!
Vera I love your bubble and squawk and often do the same with any leftovers! It all adds to the taste. :-)
I think men eat twice as much as us Mel, so it's not surprising your shopping is much less. They fill 3 of the racks with our shopping like you used to have. When I lived on my own it was a much smaller job!
My dad and first OH would mend anything. Both did building work where we lived and mended cars and first OH installed central heating fitted bathroom and kitchen including plumbing and electrics, had a garage full of woodworking machines, so made windows, gates, a trailer and anything in wood. My OH now isn't practical at all though, so I am in the same boat. He is so impatient for things to be done quickly and wants to get people in, even things I would do myself, but I find that more stressful sometimes.
I hope Mandy has got on ok and is more comfortable now.
Better go as class starts soon!

good morning all, it was only 1 degree when I looked a moment ago but it has gone up now to 7 degrees, that went up fast. sky is a bit cloudy I think rain is forecast. All being well I am going out to a garden centre for lunch.
Hope you get on ok with the plaster removal Mandy and that the splints are an improvement.
Ann hope OH's op went ok and that he is home and comfortable now. And, of course, that your drive in the dark went OK.
Island hope the rib improvement has continued
and hope all slept ok last night.

It is a pain and so frustrating Mel having to find people to do jobs that our OH’s would have done. I have that problem with electrical jobs, mainly but also lots of garden jobs. The problem I have had is the jobs that he had ,lined up for quite a while that he knew needed doing but were at the back of the queue he wouldn ‘t think of paying someone to do it. I don’t have that problem. For me the worst bit is finding somebody reliable. Vera I love that, bubble and squawk, T would have found that funny too as it is well known in this house. :-D

Gosh I am laughing Vera at your bubble and squark. Sounds like good old fashion pub grub to me and you can't beat it for taste and nothing to throw away. I have four nice rounds of bubble and squeak in the freezer now as its no good making just enough for myself and throwing the rest of the cabbage to the chickens if I can eat it at a later date.
I have rung my other BIL the roofer and he said I may be able to get the roof patched so I rang the man Em gave me the number of who did their garage as he made a lovely job of that. He was'nt in but his wife said he will ring me.
Now all I need is a plumer to see if I have a very small leak I can sometimes hear in the hall and little loo. All jobs oh would have done for us.

Good afternoon all
I hope OH’s op is going well and you can get him back home before dark Ann. He’ll need a bit of cosseting but I’m not sure the Nurse Gladys outfit is a good idea. You don’t want to over-excite him.
I’m glad you are feeling a bit better Island but don’t overdo it. You’ll have to give the clubbing and partying a miss for a week or two ;-)
I had a chuckle at your “ass” Mel.
Are you all geared up to have the plaster off tomorrow Mandy? I hope you find the splints a bit more comfortable. I’ve still got a splint somewhere from when I broke my wrist about 40 years ago. Every time I have a clear out I put it back in the cupboard as “it might come in useful one day”. I haven’t yet worked out what it would be useful for - another broken wrist perhaps?
We both had check ups and a clean at the dentist this morning. Nothing else was needed for either of us I’m glad to say. As it was nice and sunny I started sorting the geraniums this afternoon. I’ve got 2 big troughs and 3 or 4 large pots full of the plants and all I’ve managed is one pot. I’ve taken a few cuttings and potted up 5 good sized rooted bits from the mother plants. It’s a start but there is loads more to do.
I’m going to read a chapter of my book and then have a think what to do for dinner. Last night we had cold chicken with bubble and squawk. That’s bubble and squeak with any other leftover veg thrown in as well. Last night’s offering had carrot and celeriac mushed up in it as well. It’s Michelin starred dining at our house :-D
