It was quite Misty when we drove to the garden centre but mostly over the fields and river. We had a pleasant lunch, both had toadies mine was Brie and cranberry, really nice with a few crisps and a side salad/garnish.
I bought another fairly short bird seed pole holder and another seed feeder but still too cold to buy plants.

Good you have your battery now Mel. You will have to drive out regularly to keep it charged.

Glad you got there and back ok and had a nice day.

It’s good you’ve got your battery fixed now Mel. You’ll feel happier knowing that you’ve got transport if you need it.

I’m looking forward to seeing your next knitted animal Mandy. I bet a hedgehog is awkward to do with all the spikes.

Did you buy anything at the garden centre AnnG?

When we left home this morning it was still quite murky but the journey wasn’t too bad. There was quite a lot of traffic and there is a long stretch of roadworks along the A12 which slows everything down but we weren’t delayed much. Coming back took about 45 minutes longer than usual. We left about 4 pm but the rush hour seems to start earlier these days and it was stop and start most of the way. We didn’t get in till 6.15. We had an enjoyable few hours there and handed over the Christmas presents we had brought back from Yorkshire with us.

Tomorrow I must do a bit of housework in the morning and then a couple of the “girls” are coming for a cup of tea in the afternoon.

It looks as though it might be a bit warmer tonight.

Evening all,

The fog hasn't lifted here all day but the temperature has come up and the frost has gone as it drizzled a bit just after lunch .

Hope they had a safe journey there and back to Southend and that they didn't have the fog.

Mel thats good you've got your battery sorted ,have you rung the roofer ?

How was your trip to the garden centre Anng .

I don't seem to have got much done today, no motivation, but I did go up to boots for our tablets and called and got some more wool ready for Noah the horse and some for Bella the cat, still knitting Holly the Hedgehog with her spikes :-D

Had my new battery fitted to the car this afternoon so I am all ready to go now thank goodness. I don't like being without the car.

Did a bit of painting this afternoon.

Mistle started in the afternoon as Stuart arrived, I think he must have brought it with him.... then it has turned to light rain this evening. Its been really dull all day after the bright sunny days I have had lately.

Hope Vera's trip went off with no hitches and she enjoyed herself.

Yes where's Gill? busy again I suppose.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2023 17:08

A bit boring on here today. And Gill has done a disappearing act again. Hope her laptop is ok.

Morning Anng and all,

I have been trying to sort out my ebay account so I was up at 8.45am but have been on the pc.

It is 2 degrees here and there is no frost but the sky is grey here like at yours Anng. My pond has completely defrosted too and there's no frost or hail left even in places the sun did'nt reach yesterday.

Stuart should come and do the battery on my car today but he's not arrived yet.

Hope you have a good journey to Southend today Vera and the back is ok. Mind how you move and rest up with your company.

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2023 09:43

Good morning all up later today so no idea if there was a fog earlier 2 degrees here now and grey but no fog.
And I am the first on here anyway so maybe up before mel.
I guess Vera is getting ready or on her way to Southend. Have a safe journey Vera and a good day out and I hope your back has eased again. I think you have to keep moving gently but I suppose then it is inevitable that the muscles will complain. Hope it is easier this morning.

Looking forward to seeing what you have done Mel.

I am out lunchtime to a garden centre with Cynth.

-1 here Mel and getting foggy again. I hope the fog’s not going to hang around in the morning as we are.driving to Southend.

I’m glad you enjoyed your meal AnnG and the cup of tea afterwards with your friends.

My back is painful again tonight and OH is moaning at me for doing too much but all I’ve done is a bit of bathroom cleaning and put the Tesco delivery away and, after all, the medics say you should try to keep moving. All I’ll be doing tomorrow is sitting in a car and sitting in someone’s house so that will be a gentle day.

The Tesco delivery was good. Nothing missing and only one sub which was acceptable.

OH is watching yet another noisy action film so I think I’ll catch up with Call the Midwife on iPlayer before bed and a chapter of my book. I hope you all have a good night.

Had a nice lunch and some good conversation and laughs. after lunch a couple of us went to another friends for a cup of tea and I fimally got home at 4.30. It is very cold out 2 degrees now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Jan 2023 12:00

Morning all just,

I have been trying to sort out my ebay all morning and had to have someone ring me.

I have only just fed the chickens and wild birds so am all behind today.

Stuart is supposed to be coming to do my car battery but I hav'nt heard from him yet so maybe the battery is'nt in yet. Its such a nuisance when I have no car.

Think I will give him a ring now.

Glad the backs a bit better today Vera.

its 2 degrees here and the frost is still out there even though the suns out its mighty cold. I had to break the ice on the drinkers and must do the bird bath.

Good morning all, hard frost again here but nice and bright with sun this morning it wa -5 but is now -3 so going up. I have lunch out today with quite a large U3a group. It is at a pub in the village where the food is usually good. I am having fish and chips.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 24 Jan 2023 08:28

Good morning

I didn’t sleep well last night so I’m a bit headachy this morning but otherwise OK. My back just aches and twinges a bit now but is much better. No sun this morning but there’s no frost or fog either so it must be getting a bit warmer.

I don’t have any plans today apart from a Tesco delivery this afternoon. Phone just pinged and it was Tesco saying they are coming between 5 and 6. I usually book a 4 hour slot between 2 and 6 pm and they narrow it down to 1 hour early on the day. Normally they put my delivery in earlier which I prefer but it is pot luck so 5-6 pm is fine.

Hope you all have a more interesting day than me. Have a good one whatever you’re doing.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2023 21:54

Yes I think thats a good idea. I was going to ring today but forgot untill it was too late to ring him. He'll only say its been too wet and icy to take the felt off. I also think he has left it so he can charge me for a couple of new boards at £85 a time. My BIL get those for £43 each. He's a roofer in Surrey so he knows the price of those.

I have done some painting today and a bit of casting. When I have varnished them I will take some pics and send them.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 23 Jan 2023 20:02

Car started OK after lunch so we went out for a drive. OH said about 45 minutes would get it all charged up but we stayed out for 2 hours, driving round places that we hadn’t been through for years. It was really enjoyable as there was no pressure to get anywhere at a specific time.

Batteries can be a problem. Most of our journeys now are just short trips round town so the battery doesn’t get charged up the way it used to. We’ll have to make sure the car gets a good run every now and then.

It’s good that your son can help you with getting the car checked and with the logs Mandy. In our old house we used to have logs delivered and it was bloomin’ hard work moving them to the log store and stacking them.

As others have suggested Mel, it might be worth giving the roofer a call. A polite reminder that you’re still waiting might chivvy him up a bit.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Jan 2023 18:32

Oh no Vera not you having battery trouble too ,hope OH managed to get it started thats the trouble this time of ths year with all the extra things you use when driving blower, lights etc they all drain the battery and on short runs its not putting much charge into the battery.
Our tyre has stayed up but I'm not keen on driving it until its been checked just in case it goes down again ,I know we have break down cover but it's the waiting about for them to come and I don't want it happening if I'm driving in town, son said he would take the car one day this week and get it checked for us ,Colin doesn't drive now as his reactions are not what they use to be although he still keeps his licence up just in case
We have a load of wood coming on Friday it was booked for Thursday but son has safety checks to do at school so we had to ring and change the day as he wheels it all round for us ,Jake will help too.

I'd give the roofer a ring Mel it might have slipped his mind .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Jan 2023 15:05

Have you contacted the roofer again Mel to ask why he has not been to do the job?

One thing about not having a car, I don't have the problems with the battery that I used to have every winter because it was not driven far enough.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2023 12:20

So thats two of us with cars that won't start! :-| My new battery should come tomorrow and I keep thinking I will go here or there and then remember I can't.

Really sunny here and 6 degrees. I just wish the roofers would come and do the roof before it starts raining again.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 23 Jan 2023 11:15

Now the car won’t start. Grrr :- OH has attached our old charger to the battery in the hope of getting enough charge to get the car going, then we’ll have to give it a good run. I’m glad he wanted to take some bottles to the bottle bank and went to start the car, otherwise we wouldn’t have discovered it till Wednesday when we are supposed to be going to Southend to deliver some pressies that came back from Yorkshire with us.

EDIT. My emoticons don’t seem to be working. There was supposed to be a frowning face after Grrr :-|. Well, that one worked! I think it is going to be one of those days.

Morning all

It was a bitter cold night and there’s a thick frost again. Tablet is saying -3 but it is sunny at the moment.

I’ve got a load of washing in and I need to update my Tesco order that’s coming tomorrow but I haven’t any other plans for the day.
