I had to smile Vera when you said your OH has his tools all around your kitchen, my OH is the same but he leaves his smaller tools in there, they don't take up much space but once all the boards are finished they can go back into his garage.
I was saying the same thing to OH AnnG about my sleep patterns, at least, like you said, I'm getting a few hours in between waking up.
We didn't manage to finish the boarding in the hall as neither of us could do anymore, both our backs are sore from moving the triple wardrobe yesterday, so boarding the floor is a much slower job now, plus OH is on nights tonight so needs to have a rest before going to work.
I've noticed the mouse on this laptop isn't very good and things keep popping up or altering each time I type, I don't like to mention it to OH's friend with him letting me have this laptop for free, but if it gets any worse I might have to ask him if he could take look at it.
I've just had a nice bath so need to go and dry my hair, with it being so long the water is dripping down my hair all over me.

that was useful then Gwyn at least it is sorted.
Gosh Gill life is complicated for you, night and day seem to change places. You need to get back into a proper routine when these jobs are finished. At least you seem to sleep for a good length of time when you do drop off.
Vera, I hope it was not nuts and bolts for lunch then! Why do men need so much space for their jobs. I suspect it was because he needed to know which screws etc went where. The trouble with my surgery with BP is they don't just ask for a reading, they ask for 7 days worth of readings twice a day.
Well I was going to hoover the floor, then I realised it was the day for the garden bin to be emptied tomorrow so I spent about 40 minutes out in the garden tidying up the large sedum which had spread over everything so that has almost filled the bin. By the time I came in it was gone 2pm so I quickly heated up some of the soup I made yesterday and that was lunch. Other than walking down to the book stall with three more books I weeded out I don't know where the morning went.

There was quite a frost this morning but the sun has pretty much burned it off. It looks a lovely day and 7 degrees but it feels a lot colder. At least it's not foggy here.
I've done 3 loads of washing this morning but I haven't hung it out as I am sure it won't dry outside even if it does look bright. OH decided to repair a broken tool but brought everything into the kitchen as he said it was too cold to stand at the workbench in the garage. I can understand that but why does he have to cover every bit of work surface with screws, drill bits, dismantled bits of the tool etc.? He has also brought in a big, heavy tool box that is on the floor but he keeps moving it so that every time I walk through it's somewhere else and I nearly trip over it again. Oh well, it keeps him out of mischief and stops him hanging around on street corners, lol.
Gwyn, I may be wrong but I have a feeling that, as part of their NHS contracts, GPs may now have to make regular checks on anyone on their lists with an ongoing problem. I know several people, including myself, who have had blood pressure check letters. I do have a home monitor and every so often send a reading to the GP but I hadn't done so for quite a while. My letter said to either make an appointment to get it checked or send in an up-to-date reading from my home monitor, which is what I did. A friend of mine with arthritis was asked to come in for a check and the doctor admitted it was a waste of time for both of them as she was already closely monitored by the hospital consultant and a dedicated arthritis nurse, but said he had to do it. By the way, if any of you are thinking of getting a home bp monitor, do get one with a proper arm cuff as my doctor said they are better than the wrist ones.
Talking of things medical, I had a phone call this morning from the hospital booking me in for my next eye injection on Thursday. I'm not looking forward to it. It's OK while it's being done but very painful shortly afterwards and the pain lasts a couple of days. Fingers crossed, this might be the last one. I have to see the consultant a month after this injection and he will decide then if I need to have any more. I don't think the problem has got any worse so hope these jabs have at least stabilised it.
I've just noticed the time. I had better go and make Mr Mechanic in the kitchen some lunch, that is I will if he has left me a few inches of worktop to do it on.

Hi Everyone
Sorry I wasn't on here yesterday, I was up in the middle of the night the night before last doing a bit more filling in the kitchen, didn't get to bed until gone 4am then was awake again around 9am so decided to empty the hall while OH was asleep off nights, I managed to take everything out apart from the two big wardrobes which OH helped me with in the afternoon. I then had something to eat and promptly fell asleep, OH said it was only 7.30pm. Needless to say I was wide awake at 3am, so I made myself a drink and watched a bit of TV before falling asleep again. Up at 7am, so was OH so we've made a start on boarding the hall and have it almost finished, we're just down to all the fiddly bit around the outsides, so if it's not finished today it should be completed by tomorrow. I can't get over the size of the hallway with not being able to see most of it for almost two years and when I measured it again to make sure we have enough boards it was a foot and a half longer than I thought at eighteen and a half foot. Luckily we still have enough boards to do the floor.
Typical, every time I sit down OH needs me, he's calling me to measure the next board so I'd better go. I'll try and get back on here later as I haven't read the posts yet.

Well done for catching the post van, Mel. You have been really busy recently.
Ann, I have been to pick up my meds. and make an appointment. There was a trainee receptionist at the surgery and she offered me a self-check on their BP machine and I may well use that in future, but I wanted to make sure this visit and check is logged onto my notes. I could do without traipsing into town because they haven't got the right paperwork. After much searching :-S she offered me an appointment late this afternoon. It means another trip into town, but at least it will be sorted then.

Hope that fog stays on your side of the country Mandy. I hate it, so depressing. sun is out here and 2 degrees now. Gwyn, these days we are usually asked to record our own BP which they seem to think is more accurate. Mel, happy wrapping.
I was going to get a short extension lead and move the air frier. But, having googled and read up on line I am going to leave it where it is. If you use the wrong sort of extension lead (it is the cable not the plug that is the problem), it can possibly cause a fire. It should really be plugged into a proper wall socket.

Morning all,
-1 here ,frost on the car but the suns up and burning it away .
We were woken just before eight when the phone rang it was the doctors cancelling my appointment this morning with the nurse it was for an arthritis review so I need to make another appointment some time .
I finished Bella the cat yesterday and started on Noah the horse the actual animals don't take that long to knit its the clothes that take longer as they are knitted mostly in the round on a circular needle or four open ended needles. I'll send a photo later ,hope your not all getting fed up with seeing them.
Oh I just looked out the window and it's got all foggy out there .

Good morning, No frost here, but the distant hills had 'disappeared' in fog, when I got up. The sun is shining brightly now and is burning that away. Lap top says 2 degrees and sunny.
I have to pick up my repeat prescription later and while I'm in town I'll make an appointment to have my blood pressure checked. I had my annual 'M.O.T.' check with the GP's nurse before Christmas, so was surprised to get a letter requesting me to check BP. Apparently full blood results were recorded and also my height and weight but there is no record of my blood pressure :-S I'll take my diary with me and get that booked.

I ended up tidying up a lot of paperwork and throwing out envelopes and leaflets etc. to the recycling bin, so I didn't go out to the coast today. There is a local bus which will take me within reasonable walking distance of the coast, so I may go during this week, as the bus is to be discontinued in the economic cull :-( I admit not many people use it, so it was half expected. The trouble is that someone with no idea of the route or needs of people must have planned the timetable, I can catch a bus locally to a supermarket, but it begins the return journey a few minutes later :-S The next bus to return home is over 2 hours later. The last bus to come here arrives about 2.30, when it returns empty to town, as it is then 'out of service'. I can't understand why people can't catch it to the nearest town even if the bus didn't continue on the full route. It's really hard sorting out appointments in town to fit in with the buses, but from next weekend we won't have a choice and will have to walk about half a mile to the main road bus stop. :-|
Vera, a long and happy marriage is to be celebrated, so I would love to read of your plans. We weren't lucky enough to reach our 50th, but it doesn't stop me being happy for you :-)

Vera amazing how we fill our time yet have nothing to show for it. I managed to move my kitchen around ending up back where I started but a bit of help fro Avon on here hads pointed me in the direction of a multi type plug with a metre+ cable that will sort out moving the frier. Daughter pointed out that the air frier had a 10am fuse so I should only plug that one thing into the plug. It has three sockets so a good warning. I also managed to give the bathroom a quick clean, and made carrot, parsnip, keek, and potato and coriander soup. And also made two quick cards for charity.
Vera as far as I am concerned please do share your plans for your diamond wedding. I won’t upset me. But it depends on the others of course.

Good evening
I'm a bit late on parade. I don't seem to have had any spare time today and yet I don't seem to have done much!
Did you get to the coast Gwyn?
I think I must be about the only person I know who doesn't have an air fryer now. I have considered getting one but it's yet something else to go on the work surface and I seem to be managing reasonably economically with the slow cooker and microwave and only using the oven when I can cook everything in it. I used the oven today but our complete dinner went in it. We had beef pot-roasted in a red wine gravy, yorkshire pudding, potatoes, parsnips, carrots and cabbage and very tasty it was too :-) I've roasted most veg but it's the first time I have done cabbage in the oven. I'll be doing it again as we both liked it.
As well as sorting out our dinner I had a nice shower and hair wash and spent half an hour on the phone with our daughter. I've also stopped trying to find the manual for my radio and have downloaded one from the internet. I should have done that in the first place as it barely took me a minute. I've just had a quick glance at it and it looks as though I have to do a complete system reset so it will have to wait till I have an hour free and am in the mood to sort it out.
We have our diamond wedding anniversary coming up and have been trying to decide what to do. I am well aware of how very fortunate we are to be reaching this milestone when several of you have lost your partners so I hope it isn't upsetting for anyone if I mention it. Please tell me if you would prefer not to hear any more about it and I will not mention it again.

Island, in answer to a query you had yesterday Those racks are extremely tight fitting aren't they, hopefully they will ease up a bit with use. but I think you just have to press them into place.
I wanted to move mine to the other side of my kitchen. This involved moving out the slow cooker, the tray holding all the oils and vinegars and the bread bin. Once they were moved I realised it was a good opportunity to wipe down the worktop where they have stood for quite a while. Then I moved the frier over. Only to find the lead is so short it wouldn't go where I wanted it to. why does the slow cooker have a nice length lead but the frier has a relatively short one. so it is back where the old one was. No problem I just though it looked better on the other side. Now my late electrically trained OH would have solved that problem.

Forgot to say Ann. ...Your visit to Tetbury sounds very interesting. I would have enjoyed that. I have only been to the town once, when we went to Westonbirt. We had picked up a leaflet about the arboretum, which said there was reduced entry price if one arrived by public transport, so we parked up and looked at some of the town... and some pricy shops, I recall. Our short visit obviously missed some other 'gems'.

Good morning all, Really bright sunshine in this south east corner. It makes me want to get down to the coast. I've seen the sea in recent times on various car journeys, but haven't actually walked nearby for a while. I'll have a look at the tide times, because some stretches of coast are more picturesque at certain stages of the tides.
Thank you for sharing the photos Mel. I wouldn't be at all happy having the horses and hounds trampling through the garden. Good job they were soon gone. You must have a huge plot to care for and don't need any unwelcome damage. I think I saw snowdrops featured in the photos. My friend and I are planning to go to a country park later this week to see the snowdrops which have naturalised there, especially round the valley sides and around the lake. The following week will be half term locally, so we thought we'd go before it gets too busy.
