Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Mar 2026 09:05

Morning Anng and all,

It seems I had left a letter out of her email address in my contacts as she messaged me to say last night so I corrected that and sent the pics again so I am hoping they went through this time as I have'nt had a notice saying they failed.

Its 7 degrees here and pc says partly sunny but still also says rainy days ahead. I have been enjoying the dry weather and the girls appreciate it too. Better that paddling around in all that mud. They need cleaning out today so thats on the list.

Not sure if BIL is coming again today or not he keeps talking about giving the grass a cut if is dry enough.

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2026 08:15

Good morning all. very grey here but dry so far. 6 degrees a bit different from the 16/17 of Wednesday.
Washing in. I slept well last night, well still got up for the loo but was up about 0715 so got the washing in early. Tesco due this afternoon 3-4pm.
If it stays dry might pop down to the book stall to return the ones I picked up that I had already read.
Mel, message from Gwyn last night to say she has now got the photos I forwarded.

I have tried forwarding them and not heard that they have not gone so maybe Gwyn has them now.

Annx Report 6 Mar 2026 18:19

I won't send the email to Gwyn Mel as mine was incomplete with pictures missing.

I hope Mandy is ok too and just resting or busy.

Annx Report 6 Mar 2026 18:18

I am just the same with the laptop keyyboard as well AnnG and I notice other people catching adjacent keys in their posts too so it's not just us.

Oh it is annoying when things are on the wrong hangers and easy to forget to check the garment. At least you noticed when you got home and were able to take it back today. Those camisoles are a bargain price.

The garden centre was family owned and then Dobbies bought it a few years ago when they bought up a few other garden centres, but the family bought it back again about a year ago and refurbished it. I was looking for reviews and see that there are complaints about some Dobbies garden centres being mazes! It must mean a lot of legwork for the staff too.

Vera that's good the tv is fixed and at a reasonable price too. I lost an old Choisya, a golden leafed one just after the pandemic. The leaves just curled up and dropped off. I ought to replace it really as the flowers smelled lovely and It was a splash of colour in the winter. The height of my motivation today was to force myself to clean the microwave, but I left cleaning the cooker hob till tomorrow. OH will be at a match at Melton Mowbray with his pal so I might get the kitchen floor mopped while he's out as well. Yes I had read about those dreams being due to feeling overwhelmed and I think it's right with all the things I need to sort or arrange soon.

Mel I have what sounds like a similar silver charm bracelet with a heavy curb chain and padlock fastenening, but with far less charms on it than yours. I just looked online and was surprised as they are worth more than I expected. I might think about selling mine as I can't see me ever wearing it again, as I haven't for over 35 years now! Fancy you not being able to find such a bulky thing in your bag at first, but at least you found it in the end. I don't remember if I said that we found the garage remote. Like you, OH had been through all his pockets more than once to look for it, then found it in his jacket pocket. That was very lucky your OH found the stone for the ring.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Mar 2026 17:16

Been out with BIL this morning all morning we went to Holsworthy to my solicitors and both had our will's done and BIL's wife as well. Just been lazy since I came back but I did spend time looking for my silver charm braclet which I had this morning and when I got to the jewelers I could'nt find. Spent ages going through all the pockets on my handbag, pockets of the cardi I had on this morning and the one pocket I never looked in was the small pocket in my handbag for an old mobile phone and thats where I had put it. I had looked in the solicitors and when I came back home I had my whole bag out. I wanted to ask him if it was worth anything as it has a very heavy chain and 19 charms on it. I saw some in the shop for £5 each. I had gone in there because I wanted the silver ring oh bought me repaired as I lost the stone in the garden years ago when BIL and wife came to dinner one day and I had made a steak and kidney pudding and thought maybe some one had eaten it. Any the ring went in my jewery box for years till one day oh was fiddleing with the side of the road up the garden and shifting earth and he came down and gave me the stone and I have been meaning to get it fixed ever since. The jewers is not open every day and other times I have been into town he's been closed. He has just taken another shop over in the town opposit the original one. When a friend owned the jewelers thats where my engagement ring came from. Whist in there I saw a brooch the same as the one I bought in Sudbury years ago for £5 up for sale for £18 so that pleased me. Its Sycamore seeds.

Now I seem to be having trouble sending you all pictures now and Gwyn dos'nt get them at all. My pc has changed the way I send pics and BIL sowed me how to do it a long way which is what I have been having to do. So if anyone got all the pictures could you please forward them to Gwyn. I ahve tried send them by forwarding the email again and by emailing her on her own but each time it has come back as failed.

I'm posting this before I lose the lot.

AnninGlos Report 6 Mar 2026 15:45

When I took the bra in the lady smiled and just said 'it happens a lot' and apologised for it being on the wrong hanger.

I actually picked up 6 books but it was very busy, difficult to concentrate so I was nnot surprised that I had already read three of the books. So I will go back over the weekend. I have some books to return anyway.

Yes I was wondering where Mandy was. It must have been upsetting to not get her problem looked at, that is the trouble with having to have a locum who has no history of the case. Mandy's normal doctor would have been aware that there was a possibility of medication needing changing.

That garden centre doesn't sound very pleasant Annx. I can't think anyone would be tempted to browse and spend time there. Your dreams don't sound very nice either. I gather that "toilet" dreams are quite common and might mean a need to set boundaries and look after your privacy or might mean you are a bit overwhelmed at the moment. Whatever the meaning, your brain is processing your needs or worries. The most sensible thing I read about dreams is that there is no "one size fits all" interpretation. At least your car seems to be starting for you so that's a good thing.

Getting home with the wrong size bra must have been annoying AnnG. Things do get put on the wrong hangers but when you are in a hurry, as you were, you don't always think to check the garment itself. Did you pick up any books at the free bookstall? I grabbed Stephen Fry's "Mythos" from a free bookshelf at the local centre as I thought his interpretation of various Greek myths would interest me, thought it seemed familiar and discovered I had already got it on my kindle! My memory is definitely getting worse.

I hope Mandy is OK as she didn't post yesterday or so far today. Perhaps she is just busy.

I decided that I would spend today on all those odd little jobs that get put off when I'm busy and I've managed to get through quite a lot. There hasn't been any sun or even a patch of blue sky so I haven't been tempted to get into the garden even though there is plenty of tidying up needed out there. Against the back fence we have 2 different varieties of choisya and the one I like best looks as though it is dying so we need to see if we can rescue it.

TV man came this morning and has got us up and running again. There seemed to be a few things gone wrong but he sorted it all out (I still think OH had been fiddling with the remotes and knocked something out of gear. He's a great one for fiddling ;-) ). The chap was here quite a while and I was thinking it might be a bit pricey but he only charged us £45. Like a lot of small traders he no longer takes cheques or credit cards because the bank charges are so high. We never have much cash around as we hardly use it but on this occasion OH did have enough to pay him cash. However, he would have been happy with a bank transfer and he did give us a proper invoice.

I've got a couple of other small jobs I want to do before thinking about the next meal so I'd better get on. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I have no excuse really for catching keys. I don't touch typ and I am typing on a full size keyboard. I am 20 times worse on my phone and mobile as my nails tend to catch the adjacent keys then. The strange thing is it is often the semi colon for the L that gets printed.

I bought a bra yesterday and when I got home it was very much the wrong size. (34D) it is a long time since a 34 would go round me and even the D was wrong. I am sure that it was on the correct size hanger that I needed but I was in a rush and late for the chiropodist if I didn't get a move on so didn't check it until I was home. anyway, no problem as I went into town this moring, got a bus in at 0940 and was home by 11.30 having stopped at the free book stall on the way back from the bus. I also bought a pyjama top as it was 20% off. Then I bought a camisole in Primark because I have had one from there before and they are only £2.00

Ann was the garden centre one of the ones that have been taken over by British garden centres. I hate the way they lay them out, very claustrophobic.

Annx Report 6 Mar 2026 11:26

Morning All,

Misty and more like autumn today and quite chilly too. We nipped to Costa down the road first thing for coffee and a hot, egg, mushroom and spinah cob. Afterwards OH looked at books in Waterstones opposite while I had a mooch round Next homeware. It's all in the Next building so not much walking. As it's a cold morning I tried starting my car when we got back and it behaved perfectly! If it carries on like this the next few days I will have to tell the garage to cancel me bringing it in.

I'm a devil for catching adjacent keys when I type and don't like texting for that reason. It's easy to understand though when you do it yourself and realise it's an adjacent key. How do these young men with big thands that type with just their bigger thumbs manage on their mobiles??

When I tried to open the Cockerel pictures on your email earlier there were none there Mel, so I left it a while. Now there are some pictures and the Cockerel is very good. I like how you have curved the tail feathers down and managed to put short bits of feather where they would be shorter. One picture said it couldn't be loaded and one was of your car and not all 9 were there, so that was strange.

I still just about manage to cut my toenails, but lately they seem more brittle, so harder to do. I have my thy thyroid blood test in a few weeks, so if my tablet dosage needs changing that could be the reason or it might just be that I am getting older!!
I had another of my 'toilet' dreams and I've had a few like that lately. It's always a public toilet in a place I don't know and either the door won't lock or there is more than one door to it so not very private, or it is overflowing! OH says they are my anxiety dreams, but I read recently that toilet dreams mean you feel overwhelmed.

OH is taking his laptop and has a meeting with a colleague at Jenno's cafe which is near the old chapel and Santander head office on the site of the old mental hospital so only five minutes away and not in the rush hour.

My visit to the different Garden Centre yesterday will be my last! They have redone the inside to be like IKEA only much worse. Now you have to zigzag right to left down one side of the store before zig zagging up the other side to get to the exit and tills. There are high walls each side of the 'tunnel' so you can't even look across to where anything is and there are no short cuts and it is the only way to access the outside. Having to walk past everything was too much walking for me so I was glad to get to the end without buying anything.

It sounds like a nice place where you had your meal yesterday Vera. On the rare occasion I have sausages I like sausage and mash especially with a nice onion gravy! Your OH is good steam cleaning the floors, as mine hasn't got beyond 'putting the hoover round' as he calls it. I hope the tv engineer manages to sort your tv without too much expense.

Well I'd better get on now. BBL.

not that strange Mel, made sense if you realised that twice my finger hit the semi colon instead of the letter l that is adjacent. I was ruching I think. And the post was connected to the one about the chiropodist. I am fine.
Oh and no idea why that posted twice. I have deleted one now.

Strange about the socks, he is quite an older chiropodist I would think he is late 60s. maybe he has recently been on a refresher course.

Thanks for the cockerel pictures Mel. You’ve made a good job of sticking those feathers on. I showed OH and he was impressed. Did you have a nice dinner with Stu? The chicken casserole sounds tasty.

Yes, my chiropodist puts my socks on for me as well. I’ve got an appointment on Tuesday. My feet are more than ready for a bit of TLC as they are overdue. I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago but had to cancel it as OH was still unwell and I hadn’t got transport. There isn’t a suitable bus route so it would have meant yet another taxi.

Your OH does work hard Annx. The council and schools he works with are lucky to have him. I hope he was able to park close to his meetings today.

I had a partially good night in that I seemed to wake every hour but went back to sleep fairly quickly. As I woke each time I felt the bed had been turned round. Goodness knows where this feeling is coming from. It’s very weird. Once I was up I set to and cleaned the downstairs toilet and set out chairs in the lounge. Then I only had to whip the cream for the trifle and get myself ready.

The pub where we ate is in a lovely old building. I’ve been told it’s about 650 years old. Everyone cleared their plates as the food was nicely cooked and presented. I had sausage and mash which I rarely choose. The sausages, I think, were made by a local butcher and were delicious and the onion gravy was really flavoursome. Then it was back to mine. I didn’t think my trifle was that good but everyone had some and several people had a second helping. The cakes were good too and the remainder are now in my freezer. There was lots of chat and laughter and between us we put the world to rights. I’m feeling quite tired now.

I hope we all have a good night tonight.

My chiropodist always puts my socks on for me always has.

BIL has just turned up and I asked him what he was doing here on a Thursday to which he said he took the day off. He wants toget the long grass deck on the old mower and pick up some sticks so he can mow when the weathers right. There are so many twigs on the outside lawn from the trees on the boundry with all the strong winds we have been having. Down here its the big ash tree in the orchard that has branches and twigs everywhere even on my bit of road down to the shed.

Bet your feet feel nice now Anng. My one cuts my nails with both hands left and right he said he's learnt to do it like that as its easier. He always finishes them of with a drill with a sanding attachment on it so no ctchy bits. I had to cut my toenails myself the other day as I had an appointment for 9th Jan and cos of the flu I forgot itso when I rang up the only one I could get was for 11th March I think. He has not done them since before Christmas and my next appointment would have bee just before Christmas and I did'nt want that so we made it for after.

forgot to post this and BIL has just left.

It has been and still is a lovely day here 16 degrees. Still went out in my winter coat but it seems too early to leave that off.

I was in M7S and checked my watch it was 11.45 and my chiropodit appointment was for 12 o'clock and i was about 8-10 minutes away. Still I made it but didn't seem to cover as many shops as I wanted, Probably took too long over coffee. Not to worry. I could have walked back over to the shops but was too tired by then and not far from the bus station.

Chiropodist was just finishing my feet getting rid of hard skin on my right big toe. I remarked that I though I had been walking awkwardly because I was favouring the leg with the op. He nodded but then asked me why I was favouring that leg then realised why but I said well there are a lot of aches and pains, only to be expected at my age. Told him I was 85. He carried on with what he was doing (he is a manof few words). Then he suddenly stopped and looked at me and said. "Did you say you are 85?" I nodded. He was really amazed, goodness knows how old he thought I was I have been going to him for over 20 years. when he finished he reached over and took my socks and put them on for me. Obviously now registered with him that I am old...... need assistance.
