Evening All,

Still more rain today and it's felt colder than it says it is. Thanks for your birthday wishes for OH Mel. We had a lovely meal yesterday at a Pesto restaurant where we've gone before. Oh my, I was hoping they'd had some new chairs or reupholstered them by now but NO. They are old chairs with a few different designs and I've yet to find one I'd describe as comfy. I found the best one I could, but it was a bit wobbly and let out a noisy creak when I had a necessary fidget to try and get comfy. Try as I might, it was very obvious whenever I moved and we got the giggles. In the end OH said he was going to feel as if he was on the Titanic having his meal with all the creaking going on! I sat on my jacket in the end which was a bit better. There was no-one sitting near at first so I got my phone out to get a photo of some of the seats, but I only got a poor shot as some people came in then and OH said I could hardly explain I was taking photos of their saggy bottoms!

They were doing their usual 3 menus at 3 set prices with about a dozen choices on each and you pick a mixture from all 3 menus if you wanted, choosing 3 items altogether. We both chose a crepe stuffed with mushrooms in a delicious sauce with a splash of cream, sprinkled with a tasty cheese crumb and baked in the oven to make it crispy. OH had 2 fishcakes with his and cubed potatoes crusted with cheese and I had a skewer of chicken breast wrapped in parma ham and a dish of roasted vegetables that included red onion, red, yellow and green peppers, finely sliced parsnip, carrot, courgette and swede. We also had garlic bread which was bigger than usual, so we had no room for a desert after.

I just did a bit of HW and sorted the fridge today having got up late after still being awake at 3.00am.

AnnG, just a thought, perhaps they always refer BCCs on the nose to the ENT people who may have more expertise with having a good outcome with anything with the nose. I hope you can find someone to go with you though as it does help take your mind of things.

Mandy our doctors hardly ever seem to see us to do reviews and just extend the date they are due. I do get annual glucose blood tests and ones for my thyroid though. I hope your results are good and that your tablets are ok for you now.

Another visit from your granddaughter to look forward to Vera so that will be lovely. I would have had your sticky toffee pudding and put lashings of custard on it!

Off to watch Terry playing the Joe 90 tune now. I remember that programme.

After the patio was jet washed it needs to dry out so that sand mixed with weed deterrent is brushed in between the slabs.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Mar 2024 13:02

I don't know what you mean when you say have the patio sanded?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2024 12:08

Well that was lucky Mel, and lucky that you were awake when it happened if it was that loose. so no worries for you now over the appointment.

We have had some fairly heavy rain and now there is a glimmer of sun but no gardening today as it is too wet. There is quite a bit to do out there but I really needed the patio sanded as it makes a mess when that is done and now that will have to wait until it all dries up.

so I had better go and find something productive to do indoors.

Hi all,

I hacve only just been able to get on the net. It kept asking me to sign in and would'nt accept my login details. They keep changing things and I don't understand the changes. I have now logged in on another bookmark and got staight in.

I have had callers this morning first the postman with a parcel for me and then Richard the bee man who wants to buy my fret saw thing. that will be a nice big thing out of the workshop. He's coming on Wenesday or Thursday to pick it up. With all this going on I hav'nt done a thing today yet not even fed the girls just the fish.

Its 12 degrees here with that horrid light rain in the air. It did rain last night quite heavily, sorry Anng it owuld have washed you pavings down. pc says the temp feels like 5 degrees and mostly cloudy. Such a change from yesterday with the sunshine and mild temp and not much in the way of wind but today its windier which dos'nt help with the moisture in the air.

I have the shopping coming today as usual and its a nice driver. he is 10 stops away by the pc but last week it kept saying 10 stops away even after it was delivered so your guess is as good as mine as to what time it will arrive.

The first thing to happen this morning was that my loose tooth fell out!! so I don't need that taken out when I go to the dentist so I don't have to worry about driving back home on my own. It will ust be impressions for a new set.

Right better go and do the girls and I have some nice cabbage leaves for them today with thier pellets.

Yes we could support each other then. It is moral support needed rather than physical. It depends when my op appointment is as to whether either Cynth or my other friend can support me for that as they both have holidays booked in the next month.

Anyway good morning all, drizzly rain out there I really want a hard shower to wash everything down so fingers crossed for later today as rain was forecast, this drizzle is no help at all. Nothing planned again today.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Mar 2024 22:28

I know exactly what you mean Anng. I am worried about having my tooth out on my own and having to drive back. I shall also be having impressions. Oh always took me somewhere after a hospital or dental appointment. Shame we don't live nearer each other.

Oh Vera sticky toffee pud ,oh with cream ? ,yummy
Oh you did have a bad night ,hope you sleep better tonight .
How is OH now ,has he stopped limping .

Anng I was going to say would Cynth go with you to your appointment, it's not very nice going on your own ,it's better with a bit of company but I see she's got to go somewhere .

I gave the upstairs bathroom a good clean this morning ,did two loads of washing or rather the machine did and made dil a pen holder to hang on her lanyard .
Tomorrow I have my tablet review at the doctors and I think its a blood test too .

AnninGlos Report 11 Mar 2024 18:07

One of my favourites Vera. I do have a seeet tooth though.

Unfortunately no, none of the people who take me places are available to stay with me. Cynth can take me but then has to go somewhere. My other friend has an appointment so can’t take me.
This is one of the times I really miss T.. he always came with me. And would keep my spirits up.
Nice to have another visit by your granddaughter to look forward to.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Mar 2024 18:01

Vera I am sure oh would eat all the pudding if you don't fancy it as it is so sweet.

Hope all goes well for the ENT Ann and its a good idea to get someone to go with you like Vera said. Perhaps Cynth could be with you?

I cleaned the filters on both ponds as its been a lovely day here without the very chilly wind just a very light breeze and plenty of the yellow stuff. Its 8 degrees here and I have the dinner on a big pot of mince and a big pot of potatoes so I can put lots in the freezer for nice quick dinners another day or so. I usually get 4 dinners out of one lot of the mince. I just have to do a bit of spring greens with it now for tonight.

Yes I hope the birthday dinner was a success, I think they said it was going to be an italian.

Good afternoon all

It’s been a really dreary day. We haven’t had lots of rain like yesterday but the skies have been a dirty grey colour all day and everywhere feels damp. To cap it all I couldn’t sleep last night at all, eventually dropping off about 6.30 am and sleeping till gone 9.30 so I’ve been chasing my tail all day.

I hope Ann and her OH enjoyed his birthday meal today.

I’m sure you’ll be just fine at the ENT department AnnG. Would there be a friend available to go with you? Sometimes it’s reassuring just to know that there’s someone with you even if they only stay in the waiting room.

Young Lewis is doing really well Mandy. He’ll go far. I bet your son and dil are pleased with him.

I had a text yesterday from the granddaughter who recently visited us for the weekend, saying she wants to come again with her boyfriend and youngest sister. They have suggested the first weekend in May so that’s something to look forward to.

Our neighbour just knocked. He still does a bit of cooking from time to time and usually brings us a sample. He’s just brought us some sticky toffee pudding with a little pot of extra sauce. I have to admit I’m not a fan, it’s a bit too sweet for me but it is kind of him to keep bringing us these goodies.

I’m hoping for a better night and I hope you all get a good night’s sleep too.

slow on here today.

I expect Ann has been out enjoying G's birthday meal and now is too full to move and no energy to write emails. Hope it was a good lunch Ann.

Vera I have just heard from my PC chap. If I get the replacement maintenance box he will fit it for me. At a price of course but he is very reasonable,

I had the remainder of yesterdays soup for lunch with a Poussin sandwich (One slice of bread) Very tasty it was as well

Just spent half an hour weeding but it is not very warm and my hands were cold even in gloves.

Had the letter from the hospital (well two, one for Tewkesbury hospital which I cancelled and then the replacement, plus a letter from Dermatology doctor re the photos he checked and saying due to the location of the BCC he has passed me on to ENT department, which is confirmed on the hospital letter for Thursday. Not looking forward to the outcome of this, ENT sounds more serious than dermatology. (which I am used to). But it does make sense.

Morning all,

Nice bright sunny morning here now as it was'nt when I got up for the loo in the early hours. Its 8 degrees here and pc says mostly sunny.

Back and hip were ok when I got up but now is playinng me up.

Good morning all, early yet but still 7 degrees. looks very dull out there but dry.

Nothing planned again today so I will see what the day brings.

Mel, a lot of things take the same length of time as they would in the oven but I have found it usually cooks at a slightly lower temp and, of course you don't need the oven warm up time which can be 15 minutes on mine. The Poussin actually took less time to cook than in the oven. (oven 40 minutes, air frier 32 minutes. It may have been cooked at 30 but I didn't check it then. It does save having to clean the oven though.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Mar 2024 20:34

Happy Birthday to G from me. xx

I would'nt have thought a Poussin would have taken that long in the air fryer but it just goes to show you.

I ended up cleaning the whole house out for the girls in the end and not just the nest box.

I thought of something a little while ago. Do any of you remember those little parafin heaters you put under the car to warm the sump up I think? we had one years and years ago and I remember it was blue. Why it popped into my head I do not know, it must be my age........

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Mar 2024 20:28

Poussin was lovely, well half of it. I flattened it laid it skin up for 20 minutes on 180. Then turned it over for five minutes, then back with skin up for about 12 minutes, this is where you check it, mine was done and I tested with the thermometer.

I'll pass on your birthday wishes to OH Mandy! He's had a very restful day today, mostly reading his new books and watching footie on the tv as his back has been twanging after changing the shower curtain. He's looking forward to going to an italian Pesto place for a meal tomorrow. I'm wearing a thick fleece to go in, so I can use it to pad their hard seats a bit! lol. It's the only downside but we'll be going early so I might be able to swap chairs to find the comfiest. :-) Nice to have some flowers and I expect you have started the chocolates. Well done young Lewis getting such a good report. That was praise indeed for him wasn't it. I bet he was beaming at your gift too and will be working at his school work even harder!

It sounds like we'll all be trying to unwedge our Hostas to get them out of their pots now. Using the wheelbarrow to raise the pot higher is a good idea to save our backs.

Thank you AnnG. I've done spatchcock chicken in the ordinary oven before but will make a note of the temperature for the airfryer. I must check size too as my airfryer isn't a large one.

Well blow me, I just heard fireworks being let off! I suppose it's because it's Mothers' Day.
