Good morning all, a very hot sticky night, took ages to get to sleep. Hopefully had enough in the end. Doctor's this afternoon to check out 3 BCCs Probably just to get a referral. Waited 3 weeks for this one so it is probably going to drag on a bit yet Actually there is a fourth that I don't know if it is a BCC or a potential ulcer, it is on my lower leg. My Dad had an ulcer there for years. I think it started when he was in his 60s He used to have to dress it himself and I am pretty sure he still had it well into his 80s.

Oh Vera we never got to that temperature it's been quite a comfortable day in fact we've just come in from sitting out and my hands are quite chilly now .
So your well away with your new television,Mel you won't know what to watch first .
Ann I hope it doesn't get to that temperature that's too hot isn't it , mind you we're lucky it's not Greece and Portugal where we live I think they said its been 47 degrees . I worry about fires when it's so dry a couple of years ago a whole row of 4 cottages went up in flames spread from the field behind in one of the villages ,my niece had lived in the end one that was gone , thank goodness she had moved

Oh 28 degrees is too hot for me Vera. You poor thing. We have been lucky today as it's only reached 25 degrees. Tomorrow the PC says it will reach 31 degrees here, but I hope it won't. I will be like a wilted lettuce! I expect your son is busy with lots to be done at his new house.
That's good your tv is all set up Mel. I hope you have made notes of what to do! lol Your BIL and SIL both having jobs are good to give up their weekend to help you out.The weeds are really growing fast now, faster than I can pull them up, so I need to get the bigger sprayer out where there are no plants I want to keep. Those thistley weeds go right through my leather gloves they are so sharp.

28 degrees and feeling even hotter. Even the fans just seem to be moving the hot air around. Neither of us have been able to work in the garden today because the heat has been so uncomfortable.
Thanks for the photos Mandy. That looks a cosy corner by your sunflowers and your tomatoes are doing much better than mine. Mine are outside. They look healthy but are hardly growing. I’m impressed with your hostas. They haven’t been eaten at all. Mine are well chewed. We have copper tape round the pots and the slugs and snails won’t crawl over it but I think the little blighters are crawling up the wall behind the pots and getting on to the plants that way. I haven’t seen many slugs this year but we get a lot of snails.
I’ve just had a long phone chat with son and feel exhausted just listening to all that he has been doing. I think I’ll now go and make a cuppa. Neither of us wanted a tea or coffee after our Sunday lunch but I fancy something now.

I am all set up with the tv now and can see all my iplayer channels that I do watch.BIL's wife is really good at setting things up and using the pc and phones. She found something I have on my tv that she has'nt got on hers so poor BIL may just have to by his wife a new telly now. They too have a Samsung.
They left about twenty to 3pm so I made myself something to eat after that. I really need to go out and do a bit in the garden and next doors weeds are coming into flower and its that thistley thing thats really prickerly and it all seeds itself in my lawn out the back. I have already sprayed some of it that I could reach but I really need to go in there and cut the plants off. Maybe I will ask Ralph if can go in and do it.
Your garden is looking so colourful Mandy just like Annx's. I have just got tiny toms setting on my plants and the cue (late sown) is starting to grow well now in the new little greenhouse. My beans are doing well on the decking in the big pot and I am winding them arund daily. The short beans are growing well in their pot too. The other thing I have in a pot onthe patio is a courgette which has only just gone in its pot! I have had more pickings of Strawberries from the shed and the ones I left on the barrow have been raided by the squirrel again.

Afternoon All,
It's 24 degrees here, but is overcast so doesn't feel as hot and there's a little breeze. I slept quite well but seem to have got into the pattern of waking at about 4.00am. OH opened everywhere up before 6.00am so it was nice and cool inside. He decided it was cool enough for his walk. He went along the footpath past the school near the village today and startled two Muntjak deer that ran off. Goodness knows where they live as it is mostly built up. He thought it was foxes at first.
Thank you for the photos Mandy. As AnnG says, not even a nibble on your Hostas, unlike mine! I especially like the white edged one. I want your shady gazebo with comfy chairs and table. You can watch the insects and the flowers growing while you have a coffee. it looks lovely with the lights around as well. You have baby toms coming and cues and your runners look so healthy too.
You've done your HW the last few days AnnG so enjoy a relax with your book and a nice cool drink.
Glad you had a better night Vera. Ginger cake with marmalade and custard sounds good to me. The photos were of the tidier part of the garden and we need someone to come and clear the old raised beds and shed the other side where next door's lilies of the valley and weeds are taking over! It's odd about the spam emails isn't it. I notice I get a lot of spam emails, even ones I haven't marked as spam.
I hope you get your telly sorted soon Mel.
Going to fetch the washing in now and pack the ornaments and little paintings offf the hall drawers where the men will be bringing things through and going up in the loft. Good job we saved a lot of Amazon boxes.

Anng I thought the sun flowers would be as tall as the last ones it was the same seed but I suppose they haven't had the nice rain to help them . Yes the hosta are lovely this year again we haven't had the rain for the slugs to have a nibble but I did use some pet friendly slug gel from Roys .
It's been cloudy all day here so not as hot as was predicted was has been nice, now the clouds look really grey as if it could rain .

Young fox was probably exploring and sussing out chicken availability Mel so hope yours are safe. Hope you get the TV sorted.
It is cloudy here, no wind and 22 degrees so sgould feel cooler and should encourage me to get out in the garden but it feels so muggy that it zaps my energy and I just can't get enthusiastic for getting out there. all I have done today is a load of washing. I vcuumed yesterday so I will probably go and dust downstairs in a minute, the bathroom was given a good clean on Friday so that doesn't need doing. I will probably end up just reading my book. :-D :-D

Glad you got some sleep last night Vera. BIL rang and he is coming over with his wife who should be able to help put all the OPn Demand channels on the tv for me. They said they won't stay long but we'll see.
she is very good with pc's and phones etc.
I have tidied up and hoover the kitchen and diner and part of the hall so I feel I have done a bit today.
Must feed the wild birds.
I had a young fox in the garden this morning not far from the house by oh's big pond.

Morning all
It’s 24 degrees and feels hotter so goodness knows what it will feel like in the middle of the day. I did get some sleep last night and don’t feel too bad this morning. I was up at 7.30.and OH had already gone out for a walk. He hasn’t been walking for about 3 months but has started a morning walk again this week.
Thanks for your lovely garden photos Annx. It’s all looking colourful and attractive and much tidier than mine. Apparently putting you on a safe senders list didn’t work as your email still went into Spam but I’ve now got into the habit of checking the Spam folder before I shut the computer down each night.
Yes, I could have got a refund for my squashed cake but I didn’t bother. I’ve used it as a pudding before. It is a ginger cake and spread with a dollop of marmalade, preferably the more bitter sort, and smothered in custard, it makes a reasonable pud. The cake is now in the freezer.
I haven’t any real plans for the day. I’m trying to think of something to do which would be useful but doesn’t require much energy.

It's 19 degrees at the moment but it's going to be hotter later so I've done a few job between sitting down to rest my knees. Better have my cuppa .

Nothing planned for today although I need to make a card for my eldest great Grandson who will be 12 in July.

Those chicken legs would be really good value for a family as you say AnnG.
Vera you did well to get something done in the garden. I sprayed a few more weeds in the drive and watered the wall pots round the back that OH had forgotten and had to come inside. I would ask for a refund on the cake too Vera. (is it one you could use for trifle too?) I've done it with dented tins and avocados I find already past their best when I cut them and a squashed loaf of bread. As Mel says, Asda are very good about refunds and send a refund as soon as you ask for one, provided it is within I think three days. Asda substitutes anything in the shop I think! They even give you more of something you have ordered and I had a pack of mini cues on my order and a sub they sent for something else was a whole cucumber!
Our recycling bin has been full to the brim for a couple of days now, and won't be collected till Tuesday so we have had to start removing some of the papers and putting them in a pile in the garage. This morning I took a few magazines when I went to the shop and put them in their litter bin. The daft thing is the rubbish bin is rarely more than a third full.
It was 27 degrees here this afternoon, but is starting to cool a little now.
I loved BHS and Littlewoods too Mandy. BHS tops always fitted me well and I thought their clothes were well made. We had a large store at the retail park till it became Primark. It's good your knees are feeling better and I hope your system is getting more used to the tablets now. I think some of my tiredness may be due to all the pollen as the field behind us is hay now with lots of pollen. The cows haven't made the grass short yet.
I used to pick and buy Lavender for the bedroom in the hope it would help me sleep but it didn't seem to help. At one time I would buy a little bunch of Freesias every week for the bedroom from Sainsbury's down the road and they smelled lovely.
I hope you got your errands done before it got hot Gwyn. I have trouble getting off to sleep if I know I have to be up early the next day. It's good you have regular treatment set up for your ears so there's no worry getting appointments arranged.
I bet you love your new telly Mel. The brighter picture will be easier to see and is probably a bigger screen than your old one.
My bedtime now, so I hope everyone manages some good sleep tonight.

Vera can't you ask for a refund for the cake? My butter this week from Asda had been dropped and dented on opposit corners with the butter showing through I asked for a refund and they give it right away.
I did the shop this morning and whilst I was in there a friend came in who lives in the village and is also on her own we talked for a bit and both left together. She wanted to get some stuff to clean her brothers gravestone down our church but she could'nt remember what I told he rit was called. I tod her but brought her home with me and gave her a drop of mine. While she was here having a COT BIL arrived with the new telly!!!!!!!! He told me next week. Anyway he started taking the old one away and fitting the new one. Of course it did'nt fit on my tellys stand so we had to use the one he had got anyway. He has taken all afternoon to make the stand up and then start the telly up. I can see all the freesat channels and ordinary ones but not any of the prime and U & Drama or the ITVX and other on demand. I shall have to ask Ed to do that for me later but at least I can watch telly now and actually see whats going on on the screen as my old one was so dark.
I feel I have lost today completely and not done anything in the garden I wanted to do.
I now feel shattered, not got anything out for dinner, not corned the poor chickens yet either. Think may treat myself to a G & T like Anng.

G & T will be fine Ann. After all it is called tonic WATER :-)
That’s good that you got your order delivered early. Mine came just after 4 pm. I get an order every 2-3 weeks for 2 of us so there’s often quite a lot to unpack and put away. Today OH conveniently disappeared as Tesco arrived so I had to do it all. First, the milk was shorter dated than usual and only had 7 or 8 days to go and I had 12 pints plus what was already in the fridge so tomorrow I’ll have to freeze a few pints. Then I had ordered a whole free range chicken and the size I ordered should have been about £12. The one that came is huge and cost £16. We’ll be eating it all week! I also got the largest head of broccoli I’ve ever seen. The sub wasn’t a sub at all, it was exactly what I ordered and finally a squidgy cake had been put at the bottom of a crate with heavy stuff, including a bag of potatoes, on top of it. It was squashed nearly flat but I didn’t notice till I was putting the stuff away or I would have asked the driver to take it back. I usually think Tesco are pretty good but I wasn’t impressed by today’s picker/packer.
