HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY AND HOPE OH IS SPOILING YOU. I hope my card arrived, I was worried it might be late as I couldn't get to the post as early as I wanted.

sorry was half asleep earlier and not been upstairs since (watered plants before 0930 then been doing the monthly account (llate as I was doing June's account) all done now. Had a water bill and my water monthly repayment has gone up by 50%.

Morning All,

Thank you all and including Elizabethof seasons for your birthday wishes and for the lovely cards which OH has carefully arranged for me on all the the dust on the surfaces! (I'll be damp dusting later). OH was up by 6.00am, opened the doors to let the cool air in and did all the watering which was an unexpected nice surprise. By 7.00am I slipped my nightie on and went outside to sit in the arbour with my camera to photograph the bees, but they were too fast for me. I mooched around the garden pulling up the odd weed and watched the cows and the noisy Magpies taunting a Crow in the tall hedge in the field. We haven't planned anything for today as it is still hot and just popped to Costa for a coffee and cob at 9.00am and for OH to pick up a book he ordered from Waterstones opposite. He's now gone to physio.

Really good news is that he has had a rheumatology appointment come through for August at last!! BBL as I need to go out and get some money to pay the floorer on Monday.

Morning all,

<3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Ann <3 <3 <3

Hope you have a lovely day and have some nice pressies and cards xx

Surprisingly I slept quite well woke a couple of times for the loo and dropped off again
I shut the bedroom windows and curtains at the back of the house and open the windows at the front but just a little so I don't let to much heat in , when the sun moves round later in the day I open the curtains and windows at the back and closed curtains and windows at the front and we keep bedrooms nice and cool ,I think having the lined curtains help as it makes the bedrooms dark , that's what they do abroad close windows and curtains to keep the fierce heat out and I find it works .

Got to feed this morning so need to just have my cuppa then get out there before it really heats up .

Morning all,

Its going to be another hot one today I can feel it in my water! Its 24 degrees here already this morning wall to wall blue sky and not a cloud in sight or a breath of wind.
I shall be staying indoot in the cool after doing the shop. I'm not opening any windows today as it stay cooler in here if I keep them shut.

Strangly I slept well last night just up once for the loo and then dropped off again quickly. Only had the covers over my tum all other appenditures were put and about.

Don't forget to keep having sips of water girls.

good morning all. It is already 22 degrees here (actually five minutes ago it was 23). Yesterday evening it reached 33. Just too uncomfortable and this morning it is affecting my eyes. I guess that is the high pollen count, they are sticky and itchy so I will bathe them in a minute.

I had missed Vera's post yesterday, I am sure that, like me she will have had a bad night last night, it was so very hot and humid.

I think today is a day of doing absulutely nothing, even moving around is exhausting.
The tomatoes will need watering though so better get on (slowly). Best thing yesterday was sitting in friend's car when we nipped out, with the aircon full blast,

I remember it and even made it a few times Mandy. I've just checked but can't see it and remember I did lose some files a few years ago, so it must have been one of them. It did have onions and was it tinned tomatoes? I think it was a Lebanese dish (Tabouleh?) and she might have got the recipe from Fitz's wife. I want to email him next week and will ask him,

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 11 Jul 2025 20:09

Has anyone got dear Jane's recipe she use to do with her runner beans ,I think it was onions, tomatoes , runners ? She use to eat it cold , she gave me the recipe blowed if I can find it now .
There's more runners and we haven't eaten the first lot yet and we don't like them when they have been frozen .

AnninGlos Report 11 Jul 2025 16:10

it is 32 degrees here now.
I had a surprise outing this morning, well around 12 o'clock actually. Friend over the road asked if I wanted to go to Morrisons with her. As I was unable to get a slot for delivery tomorrow when I tried yesterday. And ended up with sunday I said yes so that I could get a couple of bananas and a cucumber, It was the first time I had been to that Morrisons and afterwards we went to Asda and had jacket potatoes for lunch. Last stop was Curries for an oscillating fan for my friend (£400.)

I know I am strange but it is a treat for me to see the inside of a supermarket.

Afternoon everyone

There’s no let up in the heat here but I think we are all in the same boat; it’s just as bad where you all are. Here it’s 29 degrees but feeling like 32 according to the BBC app.

We’re OK but the heat is affecting my head and my eyes. My biggest problem is that my body seems to have forgotten how to sleep. It’s getting ridiculous now OH keeps nagging me to see the doc but it seems a waste of time. All they offer are sleeping pills and they don’t work well on me. Anyway, that’s enough about my problems. Moving on….

The floors could do with a good wash or steam clean but it’s a big area and neither of us fancy it in the heat so they’re getting left for a while. I am trying to do all those niggly little jobs that keep getting put aside. I’ve just done some mending, mainly sewing on buttons, that has been sitting on a chair for ages. I spent half an hour in the garden first thing just pulling up a few weeds and deadheading but then it got too hot. We also had a 12.15 appointment at the local waste tip. OH had a lot of old wood to get rid off and we were parked at the farthest point from the wood container. It was heavy so we could only take a few bits at a time and trudging up and down the path and up and down the steep metal steps to the container was exhausting. We also got rid of a lot of non recyclable stuff and a couple of sacks of shredded paper. I don’t suppose it will be long before we manage to fill the space in the garage with more old toot.

I have read all the posts and it’s interesting to hear all that you’ve been up to but my eyes are very sore so I’m going to close the computer down for a while. Keep drinking lots and stay cool.

I bet it was nice having your feet done Mel. Do they rub cream on after? I like those minty smelling ones. The birds will have been thankful for the birdbath. I haven't a clue where my gogalongs are since my clearout earlier this year.

Mandy I was thinking I would be handwashing the same pair, but had to do a sitting, backward shuffle from the bottom of the bed. The other option was to lie across the end of the bed and roll! lol. I have some vest type tops and sleeveless ones but can't get to any of them yet. Max will appreciate a new cool bed. I wish I could find a lightweight cool pad for my bed.

It's been so hot today and felt hotter at the front of the bungalow where they were working but they have done really well and the shower is in and my cupboard and the new bigger bathroom cabinet and medical cabinet are on the walls and he's made a neat job of boxing in the water meter so we can still get to it. He's gone to pick his van up from the garage now and the flooring man has arrived carrying the biggest round fan I've ever seen! I don't blame him! I seem to have done nothing all day but make fresh ice cubes, wash glasses and cups and make drinks.

I was up about 6.30am and saw a little Wren in the garden. It's the first I've seen since the pandemic. We are thinking the Pigeons we saw building up the Magpies' nest haven't been seen today and we wonder whether they have abandonned it. We thought they may have been put off by the not so baby Magpies who still visit the tree.

I watched one of the 'Marvellous Medicine' talks last night on Arthritis and asked a question how OH could be seen more quickly than he is after waiting 4 months since diagnosis. The Rheumatologist shocked me as she said that he should get a referral letter with the results sent by his GP and that they see newly diagnosed patients within 3-4 weeks! So who is causing the delays? OH checked online today and found that the GP who said he would get a referral sent the same day had taken a week to send it. The bit of good news is that it is addressed to the same Rheumatologist who saw him privately and also works for the NHS and who was concerned he had suffered so long, so we hope he won't have to wait much longer.

So your walking on air now Mel :-D I have my shorts on and a vest top ,we've been in all morning and Max has been on his cool mat which I didn't think seemed that cool so we've ordered him a new one which should come over the weekend .

Oh Ann you can't be cut off from your knicker draw :-D not at this time of year :-D
How ever did you manage to get into bed from the end of the bed ,I'd have to sit down and shunt myself backwards I certainly couldn't kneel now like I use to .

Phew more drinks needed here .
