good morning all. woke at 7 and decided not to go back to sleep. I don't think Jake will be here before 0930 as riley has to battle the local traffic to get to Jakes. I think they must be on ladders today or else they took the cherry picker to store in a safe place last night, they didn't leave it here. and even when attaching it to the van they set the alarm off again. It must be very sensisitve.
anyway it is 1 degree and dry and bright so far so we will see how they get on today.

It sounds like Stu is too kind to want to hurt her feelings Mel. I suppose it will work it's way out one way or the other eventually. It's been colder where you are than here today, but I still had to mop the front windows out as it was colder than usual.
We had a home frozen chicken meal today and I added rice so it was a quick and easy one. I've spent the afternoon with the bathroom catalogue, checking if the new one still has the things I want to get. I couldn't find a shower that will fit where the bath is, so I went online and have found one now. It's a bit shorter than I planned but big enough and will leave space for a laundry basket which would be good. I'm nearly there now and will be glad now when it's booked in to get it all done.
AnnG I thought they must have clonked your house alarm with the cherry picker! It's good they managed to stop it though. You've reminded me of the big moth that kept setting my car alarm off a few months ago! That was an unexpected treat to be taken out and you got some things that you wanted too.
I didn't get the photos taken Mandy as it seemed dull for taking them and I couldn't decide what background to use. I'll have to look online and see what other people have used! The blankets you are crocheting must be near the finishing line now. :-D

It was not my house alarm Ann it was the alarm on the cherry picker. They finished for the day when they reached the end of one side at about1.30 Luckily Louise over the road offered to take me out anywhere so we went to the local garden centre just quickly to get a voucher for part of daughter’s Christmas present, then to the large Tesco Extra which is very smart now and has been completely fevsmped. There I was able to get liqueurs for part of son’s present and another couple of bits I wanted so that was a good unexpected trip out.

No she dos'nt join us every week he did try to get rid of her but she still keeps popping up and she came to his for his birthday and stayed the night. He also went to hers at Torquay last weekend and said they walked on Oddicombe beach.
Went up the shop to post a little parcel late morning and coming back the long way I saw Rachel who I havv'nt seen for years. She is the same age as my son and I saw her hubby the other week too.
Not done anything else today except feed the chickens and corn them and pushed them out of the nest box when it was getting dark and hope they don't go back in there again as they make a mess of it.
Posting this before it disappears again.

Afternoon All.
Sunny here now but chilly. We popped out for a coffee and egg and spinach cob at 9.00am and drove past to Asda first, also on the Retail Park, as I wanted to see if there was plenty of parking free near the scanner for my mammogram on Wednesday. It's an early appointment and there were quite a few end parking spaces for my big doors so I should be fine. OH said he would take me, but he has a Council breakfast meeting he likes to go to then if he can and I didn't want him to miss it. We called in Topps Tiles opposte afterwards, as I need to sort some smooth, but not slippy, floor tiles for the bathroom next. The young man in there was very helpful and directed me to ones that wouldn't shred floor cloths or give me a pedicure walking on them! I took a few photos to see which will be best to go with the wall tiles I want. They let you buy a single tile to take home to check you like it and will refund the cost when you take it back which is good.
I remember watching the Miniatures prog with Sandy Toksvig and it was good how they decorated the rooms. I watched the knitting prog again last night, but am beginning to think they are being asked to make things that are a bit big to make in the time.
Mandy a walk does seem to help OH's neck and back. He had a letter with thr findings of the MRI scan, but nothing about seeing the Rheumatologist. He's been trying to get hold of his secretary to see what happens next. It's good that Max isn't worried by the fireworks. He's a sensible boy! I read once that if a dog does get scared, to play fireworks on youtube with the sound very low (ideally from when they are puppies) and increase the sound as they get used to it and not make a fuss yourself which they pick up on. The fireworks seem to have stopped now here thank goodness.
I hope it stays dry for your workmen and that they are back soon to use the sealant AnnG! It will be good to get the roof watertight again so it won't cause any problems. That was a surprise your alarm going off and odd no-one came out to see what it was as you say. I agree it's hard to focus on doing anything when workmen are needing to interrupt to ask things. I decided to cancel the art course I booked for the same reason, as I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate on it. The teacher will be doing others so I can always join another time. The floods here had gone down in the fields this morning but we are due more rain tomorrow which won't help.
That was a strange dream Mel! I meant to ask whether Stu's girl still joins you for your weekly meals?

Confused Mel. I don’t remember anything about Gwyn going for a weekend to meet her family. Although I remember she said that they usually did it. Wondering why she messaged you instead of putting it on here though.
Jake and Dad have gone off to get more sealant. For that read ‘it is time for breakfast’. I have a very large cherry picker type vehicle outside my kitchen window. Only trouble is somehow Jake set the alarm off and they had trouble stopping it. Even more worrying is not one person looked out to check their cars.
I have done a wash load and cleaned the inside of my lounge window and two of my kitchen windows. The kitchen ones are difficult to reach behind thesink unit etc and a shallow bay so quite a wide reach

Morning girls,
Sun here and its a beautiful day so far and its 6 degrees. I over slept this morning but I have an excuse, got up for the loo while it was dark and could'nt drop off again after getting back into bed and laying down my nose seemed to be blowing bubbles on bresthing in. It was so annoying I had a good cough and blew my nose but by this time I was wide awake. I must have dropped off in the end as I had three very strange little dreams. something aboiut a caravan, then laying a table for dinner and then asking for something to put a lot of things in that were on the tabel and was brought a grater with a big bubble on top.
Anyway I heard from Gwyn and she had a lovely weekend with the family at the meet up in Hmapshire.

Good morning all. pale blue sky weak sun an 1 degree here at the moment so dry for Jake but very cold. I hope they can get on with it today as I don't want it taking all week.
It is always hard to find things to do while they are here because as soon as I settle down to do something they are bound to knock the door with a query. So I might try wrapping a few presents.
Just looking on line and I see Claudia has hit the usual spots around Gloucester. with Tewkesbury being hit yet again. One car park for the shoppong centre is like a lake. And several villages near the River Severn are cut off. I hope Jane's sister and family are safe if they still live where they did before. They were very near the river then I think.

We had some sunshine this afternoon and it was lovely to see blue sky again . We've just had our Sunday roast so I'm full to the brim .
Thought you might like that programme Mel ,I'll try and remind you again when it's on . Hope your back is a bit easier now .
Ann I was warm in the night and pushed the covers off ,we haven't got any heating on but I have had the oven going so had a bit of heat from that and we haven't even lit the fire today We had your fireworks last night about half past nine there was an almighty bang and then all the flashes, it went on for about half an hour ,didn't bother Max at all he just looked up then cuddled down again ,who ever was setting them off must have got wet as it was raining quire hard . Did the walk help OH's neck ,it's not to long to his appointment now is it .
Oh Anng I bet its lovely in Scotland now with all the lovely colours of the trees turning , sounds as if the weathers good for them .
Your doing the tight thing Vera you don't want to put to much strain on your other eye and get a migraine, hope you sleep well too .

Afternoon all
Mel, I hope your back strain isn't too painful. Make sure you rest it and don't be tempted to do too much. I saw your photos this morning and have responded. Sorry it wasn't earlier but I am really having to limit my screen time at the moment. Constantly having to chop and change between out-of-date reading glasses and distance glasses with only one lens is putting quite a strain on my other eye. I expect it will be nearly Christmas before everything is sorted as, if they say everything is fine at my post op check, I've still got to have eye tests and new glasses made.
I hope your daughter is having a lovely birthday AnnG. My daughter was 60 in the summer and took early retirement then so that she and her partner could spend his last few months together. It came as a shock when I realised I was the mother of a retired woman of 60!
Dear Lady Elizabeth, thank you so much for your good wishes. I appreciate your kind thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~ A quick wave to Annx, Mandy, Gwyn and anyone else who looks in and then I'm off. Sleep well tonight everyone.
Afternoon Everyone,
I was boiling in the night and threw the duvet down for a while and was still awake gone 3.00am. I didn't hear any fireworks for a change last night so that was good but maybe I was still anticipating them. I had a lie in this morning and keep yawning now and have runny eyes.
It's just been weak sunshine here, no rain though and I did a towel wash. I chivvied OH to go for a walk, just a short one, as he hadn't been for one the past two days and his neck was hurting this morning.
Thanks for the photos Mel and I have answered now, but the last one went in my spam folder for some strange reason??
More tidying up in here now.
Happy Birthday to your daughter AnnG! It sounds nice where she is staying. :-)
We have a weak sun hereI have just spent an hour in the garden picked up a large black bag full of the leaves off the tree at the end of the garden They absoletely covered the patio there and the slate bed. I have left them to rot on the slate but managed to pick up most of them on the patio usinf a rake. I emptied the black bag first of last years leaves into the compost bin they will go in nicely to what is in there already and be good for pots for next year. I did also use some of the leaves as a mulch. And moved some geraniums in a pot into the conservatory. I don't have room for all of them but can save a few I hope.
Daughter will be enjoying her birthday, they are away for five days inthe lodge I stayed in with them 2 years ago near Castle Douglas Scotland. Lovely place to stay and this morning they had clear blue sky over the lake, beautiful. I am very envious I loved that area.
Mandy I have been waiting for another miniature program after the last one with Sandy Toksvig. I shall have to look out for that. I once bought a plate I liked in a hospice shop and have it up on the plate rack in the kitchen and I did a miniature of that. Don't htink I could do it now though.
still miserable here but I think it is dry.
