My goodness Anng you wouldn't want to have to many to send abroad at that price ,when you think years ago the card cost more than a stamp now its the other way round .

Gosh Vera is it a week already since your eye was done, you'll be glad to get your new glasses .

Snowing here now .

Talking of Christmas cards, as I don’t get to the post office that often I posted a card early to Iceland. Just a slim very light card in the envelope. £3.40 :-S

I'm glad it wasn't too slippery when you went out AnnG. We reached the heady heights of 3 degrees today and had some bright sunshine but it's cloudy again now. I have to go out in the morning and was going early but I might leave it till mid morning in the hope that any ice will have cleared by then. I think we must all be careful if we go out. It's so easy at our age to break a hip or a wrist.

Gosh Mandy, your grandchildren are growing up fast. How can Lewis be 10 already? I'm sure it was only yesterday that he was a toddler!

Annx, my eye is pretty good now. It feels a bit gritty sometimes but there's no real discomfort. I have given up trying to put the drops in myself as I was wasting too many so OH is doing them for me. Even he has missed my eye a couple of times. The bottles are tiny and one has to be used twice a day and squeezed from the side, the other three times a day and pressed on the top and they are really awkward. I can't believe that a week has already gone since I had it done.

Today OH got our big box of Christmas bits down from high up in the garage and I sorted it out to see if I had any unused cards left from last year. I found a dozen so I won't need to buy quite so many this year. I'll go into the Cards for Good Causes shop in the library tomorrow. With my intermittent hand tremor I often only get one or two a day written so I must get started.

I've also made a start of tidying up and sorting out the troughs of geraniums OH brought into the conservatory when it started to get really cold at night. They had grown much too big and scruffy looking. I managed to do one trough. I've cut them back by a lot so I hope they survive. I did take half a dozen cuttings as well which might root or might not. We shall see.

Dinner is prepared but I shall need to get it in the oven soon and then I have some emails to write. I think I feel a CofT coming first - got to get my priorities right. Have a good evening everyone, stay warm and sleep well tonight.

No more snow here but the sky has been such a funny colour as if its full of snow ,there's was a little sun which raised the temperature a bit and melted the snow .
I had a good morning getting lots done ,made a nice sponge and some parsnip soup for lunch ,now having a nice cup of coffee .

Oh Ann I couldn't shower with a window open I put the light on which puts the extractor on over the shower and that takes the steam out , at least your in and out quick which saves water :-D
Chelsea's looking for a job she's applied for all sorts but doesn't even hear back from a lot of them

Anng a fish and chip lunch sounds good after a bit of shopping , yes got to spoil the children if you can ,Lovely seeing their faces when they see the presents .

AnninGlos Report 20 Nov 2025 14:59

Thanks Vera for explaining that to Mel. I have just come in so only just seen it. The paths and roads were not icy so no slipping. It was pleasantly not busy in town and I managed to get a few extra bits. I see I have now got an extra present for youngest Great Grandson as I forgot I have ordered something that is coming today from Amazon for him. never mind it is what Christmas is for if you can afford it. Spoil the children!!!
It was really cold in town but fish and chips from Ye Olde fish Shoppe warmed the three of us up. Was going to be 5 but two couldn't make it.
5 degrees now and a lovely sunny day.

Afternoon All,

Brrrrrrr! It's reached 3 degrees here but we had frost this morning and no snow. I didn't dawdle in the shower with both windows wide open!! For the 2nd day running I have come across police cars blocking roads due to accidents. Today's was just over a railway bridge where 3 cars had run into each other all going in the same direction. It must have been bad as the cars were badly damaged.

I see you have a bit more snow Mel. It must look quite christmassy outside. Will you be doing the advent ring and any wreaths ths year?

I see you had snow too Mandy so it must have skipped over us! Gosh the grandchildren are growing up fast aren't they. Did Chelsea stay on at school? I can't believe Lewis is aged 10. I still smile at the bin lorry cake he wanted that time.

I hope there had been a bit of a thaw so it wasn't slippy when you went out AnnG.

Is the eye improving each day Vera? It's good you are managing to post a little.

Just waiting for the breaded fish for lunch with french fries and mediterranean veg to finish cooking, then the day is mine. OH has sat on an online appeal this morning and is writing it up.

Morning all

No snow here yet, thank goodness. It’s bright and sunny but it feels like the coldest day yet. Mel, Ann was saying her temperature had gone up from -4 to -1, so it was getting warmer.

Just heard OH open door to visitor so I’ll bbl.

Morning all,

Got up at 7.23am for the loo and there was snow on the garage roof when I looked outside the bedroom window so I went back to bed for a lie in. Its still all over the cars and a bit on the grass but where the suns reached its melted. Its 3 degrees here and as I just said the suns out at the moment. and pc is saying mostly cloudy.

Anng you be careful walking out today we can't have you slipping over. Did'nt you mean the temp went down to -1 and not up!.

All of youo be careful today if you have to go out and the ground is slippy we don't want any accidents before Christmas. <3

Morning Anng morning all,

We had quite a bit of snow in the evening ,great big flakes which laid ,this morning the paths and roads look clear but the car, roofs and hedges still have snow on them .
There is patches of blue sky but the clouds are quite black and we should have more snow this morning .

Ann , Chelsea is 18 , Katie will be 16 next month ,Lacey is 13 and Lewis is 10 ,I was only saying the other week about the little sundress ,now it's hard to buy clothes for them, I think this year we will hive them some money so they can get what they like .

Anng be careful walking on the paths when you go out .

good morning all. bright and weak sun and frosty roofs. and temp -4 degrees. Luckily it looks as though roads and paths are dry. I am meeting friends in town do hope it is not icy when I go for the bus around 10am.

I'm going to try that Annx probably tomorrow now as I have deleted them all today once I could get into my inbox. I sometimes think its those that are making it hard to get into the inbox.

Night night all hope you all sleep well.

Annx Report 19 Nov 2025 18:23

Evening All,

Bitterly cold breeze today! Before I forget, you can use your voucher on your next order by entering the code on it where you pay on the site Mel. It might speed your PC up if you empty/delete your deleted and spam emails that are in folders. With the spam ones you get now you can do as Vera suggests or open the email and click on 'forward' (I click on 3 black dots at right near top to find 'forward' ) and send it to [email protected] If you don't report them they keep sending them. That was a nuisance your order got cancelled, but at least it arrived today, even if you did get a surprise and have to throw yourself together!!

I was up early and managed to park in an end space close to the scanner next to Asda. The steps to it weren't steep but the shiny painted handrails were wet and slippy. They took me straight in although I was a bit early so no sitting and waiting and I was out again in less than 20 minutes!. OH had gone to a council business breakfast so I went to a garden centre and had poached eggs! I saw a neighbour and his wife I saw there last time and Barry said he could have given me a lift!

That's good your roof is fixed now AnnG, especially looking at the weather forecast. It's saying it's 1 degree here now with minuses during the night so it should be another frost tomorrow.

I bet your log burner was nice and cosy today Mandy. I think we all need to keep our fingers crossed that Jake will get a cancellation soon and be able to take his test again without having to do the written one again. How old are the other grandchildren now? It doesn't seem that long since you were making pretty sundresses for the girls! :-)

It's good to hear your eye seems to be doing ok Vera, but keep that cold wind out of it. The speaker sounded interesting and your meal yesterday was right up my street! Yummy!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Nov 2025 18:04

Just went out for a puff and there's snow on my cars. The winds dropped.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Nov 2025 18:00

It is strange really as I didn’t know there was anything wrong with the roof and of course what has been done is only noticeable if you look for it so it is nothing to get excited about really except to know that I should be water tight now. :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Nov 2025 16:33

That did sound an interesting talk about the 500 year old house. Its nice when they are a good speaker and keep you interested. Bet you'll be glad to get your new glasses now Vera.

Skies come over really black again so we may be in for more hail and the icy wind has'nt dropped either.

I had a male and female pheasent in the chicken pen when I went to corn them a little while ago when it had stopped hailing and the sun came out again.

Its good they finished your roof today Anng now you will feel nice and safe if we do get hail and snow and lashing rain. Still 4 degrees here at the moment and pc is saying mostly sunny which it has been today.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 19 Nov 2025 16:04

Lots of rain overnight and this morning. It stopped about 11 am but there is an icy wind blowing. All 3 weather apps agree that it is currently 4 degrees but feels like -6 to -8. Brrr. Good job your roof is finished AnnG and Mandy's logs are all stacked.

What a nuisance having to wait an extra day for your order Mel. If you are getting a lot of scam emails or texts are you sending them on to the companies they supposedly come from? Most of the big companies have a way of doing that and they like to know so that they can watch out for new ones doing the rounds and try to counteract them..

We've had a busy couple of days. On Monday I managed to get all the washing done and in the afternoon we had a club meeting. A local man gave us a talk on the history of his house which is over 500 years old. As it included quite a bit about the geography of the town in medieval times and a potted history of all the people who had lived in his house, it was very interesting and he was a good speaker.

After doing some jobs yesterday morning we had lunch in town at my favourite fish place. It's not the cheapest but the fish is beautifully cooked and you get a generous helping. I had grilled salmon and OH had grilled cod, both with baby potatoes and mixed pan fried veg. It was delicious. Then it was up to Iceland to stock up on some bits and pieces on the over 60s day for 10% off.

Today I got the ironing done and several little jobs of sorting and tidying while OH hoovered through for me. For the last hour I've been on the computer doing some banking and looking at one or two sites for Christmas presents. While I have been doing that OH has washed the floors in the hall, kitchen and utility, bless him.

I think my eye is doing OK but reading or being on the computer for too long does put a strain on both my eyes. It will be fine when I can eventually have the correct glasses but it's a nuisance at the moment, so I am going to sign out again now. Keep yourselves warm and be careful if you have to go out in this icy weather.

PS It's raining again. Great :-(
