My second lot of roses arrived and there's 12 so two lots sitting where I can see them on my desk and filing cabinet.

It’s much warmer today and most of the snow has now thawed though there are still odd little patches here and there. We had a fair bit of rain this morning but it's been dry this afternoon. Some of the plants in the garden look a bit bedraggled but I expect they will pick up. What amazed me was a pot of those miniature purple iris. Before it started snowing there were none in bloom but now the snow has cleared from the pot there are 4 or 5 in full flower. They must have come into bloom under the layer of snow. It probably kept them warm.

Hats, bags, pictures – what a talented lot you are. I love them all. I love the colour of Inara’s hat and your girls must be the envy of their friends, Mandy, with all the lovely and unusual things you make them. I think your bluebell picture is great Ann. I love to see bluebells en masse. We are not far from Arger Fen and we usually go for a walk there in bluebell time as it is beautiful then but we couldn’t go last year because of lockdown and it’s looking doubtful for this year as well. I’ll just have to look at Ann’s picture and imagine I am there.

I understand how you feel torn two ways when it comes to going away AnnG but, as others have said, T. isn’t in the bricks and mortar, he’s in your heart so will be with you wherever you are. Have a week or two of getting yourself together and, hopefully, being a little bit spoilt. Safe journey tomorrow.

Frank, rest your back as much as you can with just a little bit of gentle movement so you don’t stiffen up too much. Do you know how you tripped?

I’d be inclined to try another supermarket Ann. I’ve heard a number of people complaining about Asda. I find Tesco best but getting a slot can be a bit more difficult with them as they are the most popular but Sainsbury’s is OK too. Our Sainsbury’s only books a week ahead but I don’t often have a problem getting a slot.

I am very impressed with all your Valentine cards and flowers. My dearly beloved could take a lesson from yours. He wouldn’t know a Valentine card if one leapt up and bit him on the nose and on Saturday I said jokingly I hope I’ve got a dozen red roses being delivered tomorrow and he looked at me vaguely and said “Who have you ordered those for?” and he wasn’t joking. I’m not sure if I’ll get a birthday present from him or not. He asked what I wanted and I said I need trousers and I want to replace a couple of worn out cardigans. To give him his due he had a look online for trousers and did pick a pair out but wanted me to check he’d got the size right. Just as well I looked. They were very high waisted, with a waistband at least 3” high, and were very wide legged in this soft drapey material. Let’s just say they would have looked beautiful on my tall, willowy, 20 year old granddaughter. On me they would have looked ridiculous. I had to veto them as tactfully as I could. Perhaps I should be flattered that he thought they were suitable lol. I’ve since had a look online myself and haven’t found anything I like and that fits me, unless I want black or grey.

My neighbours are at it again. Today we were having a sandwich when a van from an oven cleaning company drew up outside and the chap disappeared into their house. There are so many people in and out of that house that it’s like Piccadilly Circus at times. I worry for them as they are both clinically vulnerable and at one time were supposed to be actually shielding, though I don’t think they ever did.

I’m now going to have a nice cuppa with a biccy and then have a think about what to have for dinner tonight. We didn’t have our usual roast yesterday so I haven’t got any leftover meat. Might be something with eggs again.

That backs going to take a a while to ease off Frank. Keep taking the painkillers and get back to your book in the warm.

Mandy thank you for looking for me and if you got some Disney ones for the girls thats good so not a wasted journey.

When you do those mits I sent you the pattern of can you please make me a pair for my friend Di. She is such a chilly morsel and the pair of fingerless gloves I bought her a coupl eof years ago are nearlly worn out. She told me she'd sewn them up three times but she wears them all the time.

I will try again. Just lost my post.

The back has been playing up most of the night and today. I rang 111 at 7.00 am. Their advise is what I am doing anyway. REST and take Co-Codimel.

We have had sunshine all day, and I have been sitting in the conservatory reading , with door and windows open. Starting to cool down now, so will close up.

Not staying as I can't get comfortable. xxxx

Not so cold today and lots more snow melted .

AnnG your bound to feel like that it's your first time away on your own , your not abandoning him he'll always be with you were ever you go .

Mel no luck with the moon and stars fat quarters they were sold out but I did get some Disney ones that I thought I could use for the girls bags .
Shopping all wiped and put away and on the way home there was parking spaces in town so I parked and got our tablets from boots so that was another job done .


Ann couldn't you try another super market ,is it easier to get delivery slots now ,that's not on having heavy things lumped onto loaves of bread once they get squashed they've had it .
I hope the girls will like the bags I haven't told them I'm making them yet as I don't know when they will have them ,the gloves and the head bands I took over the school and caught son as he was going in in the car he grabbed them through the car window and I walked back home ,it does seem strange not stopping to talk but that's how it has to be .

Oh is out on the mower which started first time and is mowing the west lawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a greyish day but the wind seems to have dropped a lot. NOt been out yet so will see later.

Safe journey Anng when you go off. Enjoy being pampered for a couple of weeks and you know T will be close by watching you.

My thumb has healed now so is much more comfortable. It took about three days of constant vaseline on it several times a day and tring not to get salt or onion juice in it but now its better.

Did a bit of the family tree last night and found some pics on someones tree that I had'nt got so I need to contact her to see if I can have them.

good morning, very grey here. Almost packed for tomorrow. Mixed feelings about going away. Strange feels as if I am abandoning T. No, I know I am not, he will be with me. But it seems all wrong packing just for me. difficult too as winter clothes are so much thicker and heavier, case is going to be heavy. good job SiL is here to carry it for me.

Funny you should say that AnnG only I said to OH perhaps we should try a click and collect at Sainsbury's once the virus levels drop some more. Our vaccinations will soon be up to full strength and the farm shop we like are doing click and collect too so we could try them as well. Their eggs are much nicer than Asda's. I'm glad you liked the bluebell picture and I think I enjoy doing landscapes most of all.

Have you thought about not having a Asda Ann they don’t seem to be very good at the moment, it must be very frustrating.

Three items not available and 10 subs this time and a fingernail had gone through the foil top of one of the yoghurts. The delivery chap got lost and turned into the wrong close and had to ring us. (I think it was the same chap who did it once before). When we went to fetch our stuff in, no bags used again and he didn't even use our boxes and crates, but just dumped their racks outside. All the food piled in anyhow with loaves of bread at the bottom on their side being squashed with heavy frozen stuff and tins on top! Why they think duck is a good substitute for gammon I don't know. Probably the duck doesn't sell so well and they try to get rid! Now we have their crates to find space for as well. I'm going to ask for refunds on the yoghurt and bread and will have to ring them about the bags again as they charge for them.

All our snow in the garden has melted now and OH said the temperature in a few days will be in double figures about 17 degrees! I said we better get the patio table wiped down ready for alfresco dining again!

Early rising tomorrow for the window cleaner. We will need to get some more cash to pay him soon, but have managed up to now with what we have since last March. Then to the chemist where the craft club in the village there have done a valentine yarn bomb, so I can look out for that. Zoom painting course in the afternoon......a potted Primrose!

Those little bags are so gorgeous Mandy. You make so many lovely things for the girls they must wonder what you will do next.....I know I do! :-D

It's 23 degrees in the study where I am so nice and cosy We still have some bits of snow but we had a bit of rain earlier so I think it will be gone by morning. It sounds like you still have plenty Mandy and the path to the church sounds as it it could do with gritting......poor chap going a cropper like that! OH mentioned me getting the clippers to his bit of hair this morning! Mine seems to have lasted well this time, but I thought she took it a bit shorter than usual as we were expecting lockdown when she last did it. I noticed on their website that some were booking haircuts anticipating an easing of lockdown with the next announcement. I think I'll wait as you have to pay a deposit when you book now.

AnnG, that's good you are wiped and put away. My drop should arrive in the next hour and is bigger than usual, although not as much to wipe if we don't need it in the next few days. It is a job I hate, together with the ordering.

I hope your back soon improves Frank. What happened, did you trip? It's a good job you had someone willing to come and help get you up as we shouldn't be going in other people's houses. You will have to try to take extra care and maybe get a zimmer for now.

Better go and sanitise the worktops and draining board ready. :-S

Snap Island we've got ours going too ,just put two logs on so we're lovely and warm ,step outside and it's a different matter ,still have plenty of snow laying about ,we watched people trying to walk down the path in the churchyard one poor chap went down a wallop ,it's like glass on the path .

Vera I think we will soon all look like we've been dragged through a hedge backwards with no hair cuts on the horizon, Colin said yesterday would I get the clippers out and give him a trim .

Ann hope you managed to make a decent gravy in the end ,I like Bisto.

Oh dear Frank I hope your poor back soon feels better .

We're having Jacket potatoes tonight with Tuna ,we had Toad in the hole yesterday and we had the sausages from the butchers pack ,they were the best sausages we've had for a long time and I'm fussy with sausages there's not many I like .

I'm not cold.......

Sorry you're all so cold as its a balmy 8.5 degrees here today and rain in the wind.

Thank you all for your lovely cards which are all displayed on the windowsill. Had some great presents, choc ginger and a huge toblerone from oh plus 18 lovely pink and white roses and a hamper from SIL and two small bars of ginger dark choc from other SIL and a lovely bottle of my favorit wine from Em and the boys and a shopping bag with chickens on so I have done really well htis year. I'm told there's more flowers on the way as oh had trouble with Moonpig this year so some flowers are from someone else other the the usual Moonpig.

Its rather nice to have some different coloured roses other than the red ones I usually get. O and oh bought me another 150 fat balls for the birds. Di my friend gave me a lovely little bronze hare to go with my other one on the windowsill so I was really pleased with that. <3

Nothing special weather wise here either, looks like we could get snow/sleet or rain sometime today. We aren't gong anywhere, so it won't bother us.

Ros has just bought me a coffee, wth some CHOCH Bickies. I will eat those while I am on here.

Last night I went to come down into the dinning room end of the room for something. I can'r even remember what it was.I tripped and went down backwards, It knocked the wind out of my body and really hurt the bottom of my back. Ros was unable to get me up, so had to call Tony to my rescue. (good old TONY) Between the pair of them, they got me to my feet and steered me through to the bedroom. Ros had turned the bed down earlier, so I was able to get into bed, I don't think I moved all night, until I got out for the loo at 7.00 am. I went back to bed and slept until 9.30 am, which is late for me. I am now nursing a very sore back.

Roast leg of Lamb for dinner today. Ros. has prepared all the veg, while I sat in the conservatory on a hard back chair, reading my book.

No running around the block for me today, lol lol I am going to try to sit in an armchair and read the paper. Not that there is anything of interest in it,

Back to dull and dreary here, but some nice Valentine cards from OH and one that made me chuckle, so that was a good start to the day.

Better dish up lunch next. I tried a packet of supposedly delicious roast chicken gravy and ended up pouring it down the sink it was so full of thyme and sage, overpowering. I then did my own mix but Asda had sent their own stock sachets as a sub. OMG all that salt,,,,,,half down the drain too while I found some of the old ones left to mix with the Bisto,......Ahhhh! BBL
