Sorry Vera, I forgot to wish you a happy birthday, must have been half asleep when I posted. Couldn’t get to sleep until gone 2am this morning so feel weary today. Anyway have a lovely day <3 <3 <3 and what lovely presents you have had, especially like the sound of the cats.

Yes it does seem like an East West divide. So far we have had three reasonable days in the past week, the rest wet. It does look as if it might be ok at the weekend. The reading, we had at our wedding. It was too long for him to read it all out so we had it all on the back of the order of service and just a couple of verses read out. In my teens I had to learn the whole passage for a scripture exam ( not something you see these days). :-)

Thank you for your birthday wishes and thank you Mandy and AnnG for your cards and for the enclosure Ann. I know that Corinthians 13 passage so well as it was read the first and last day of every term at my grammar school, so I heard it 6 times a year for 7 years. It is lovely and meaningful.

I am in a whirl this morning as the landline hasn’t stopped ringing or my mobile pinging with texts. I have done very well with cards and pressies; people are so kind and generous. Our post doesn’t come till around 1pm but I already have 18 cards, plus a couple of nice emails and an e-card. I’ve had flowers, chocolates, candles, wine, a vase, an ornament, earrings, a scarf and garden and Waitrose vouchers. One friend who can’t get out even slipped a £10 note in a card. Another friend has texted that she will be dropping something at the door at around 12.30. OH did buy me a present in spite of me saying not to and I love it. It’s a small, hand made bronze sculpture of two cats curled up together and can go indoors or outside. I thought I might have it on a flower bed or under a shrub in the summer and indoors in the winter.

It’s sunny and mild here this morning but very windy. There seems to be an East/West divide. If it’s sunny in the West, it’s pouring or snowing here and vice versa. AnnG, my son loves the Lake District and he went to uni in Carlisle but his description of the weather there is “it’s either raining or it’s about to rain”.

There’s the phone again. OH is answering it but I’d better go as all the calls today seem to be for me. Yes, it is. Bye for now.

Morning Anng, Gwyn and all,

Raining here again and dull and dreary with it. I don't know why we get one nice day and then its back to wind and rain and grey skies.

The only urgent job today is to get the dustbin bag up the top for tomorrow morning as they come so early.

My nose keeps running so I am off now to give it a good blow. <3

Morning AnnG, Gwyn, morning all ,

Happy Birthday Vera ,hope you have a lovely day .

Bright sunny morning here and still quite mild .

Arrr that's why AnnG ,they are now letting son unlock and do all the checks he has to do so he was pleased ,he didn't want to get behind with them, he has so many to do I didn't realise what there was to do , every thing from checking the heat of the water coming from the hot taps, fire extinguishers, how the doors close so they don't trap their fingers ,play ground equipment and lots more .

Coffee time now ,might sit out again and drink it in the sunshine. <3 <3 <3

Good morning Ann.

When I saw the weather forecast, I noted that you were in the dark blue area, ie. heavy rain.
I think that area's had more than it's share of rain lately.

Bright sunshine and very mild here, rather like yesterday.

Gosh are you all still in bed or have you got good gardening weather? Lashing down with rain here and the wind is up again.
Vera hope your day is less hectic today.

Mandy I think they have only just added diabetes to the shielding group. It is advisory rather than mandatory I think. Not good for his job though with schools going back.

I didn't see you there Vera ,you have had a busy day .
Could you have a little boiled rice with your bolognese .

I meant to say son messaged to say he had a shielding letter arrive today so he's now off work until the end of March ,it's because of his Diabetes, he never had a letter last time .

Oh that's good the scooter arrived Frank I hope you soon feel better so you can go out and about on it ,it will be lovely for you to be able to go out when you want ,have you got your L plates for it :-D

Another wipe down Mel ,I wonder how much longer we will need to do it ,it will feel strange to just put things away with wiping them.
Yes Mel I've had a go with the zip roll my goodness there's loads of it and twenty pulls too so that will keep me going yours will probably be different colours so they will come in handy .

We sat out in the sun this morning and had coffee it was so warm I didn't even have a coat on ,hard to believe that only a couple of weeks ago the bench had seven or eight inches of snow on it.

Evening all

Wasn’t that what Dixon of Dock Green used to say? Now I am showing my age.

It’s been windy here today but dry and bright. I still didn’t manage to get out for a walk as it’s been a bit of a busy day. The phone and the doorbell haven’t stopped.

I started the day filling in an official form to do with my brother. Then for some reason where I had to put my email address I put in an old one that we can no longer use. Why on earth did I do that? I had to go back to the computer, find the form and print that page and fill it all in again.

Then the doorbell went and it was a friend with some really lovely flowers for my birthday. Although we only live a couple of miles apart I hadn’t seen her for a long while so we stood outside, well distanced and masked, and had a good chat. She went, I came in, doorbell went again and it was a parcel being delivered. OH sprinted down the stairs and grabbed it before I could pick it up from the doorstep, so I guess he has ordered me something online.

As we were just finishing lunch another friend arrived with a pressie. That was nice and convenient as she was able to witness my signature on the form I had filled in. Then, blow me, doorbell went again and on the doorstep were some home made ginger biscuits with a note from a neighbour. Two of their young grandchildren live abroad so once a week they do cooking with them via Zoom and the biscuits were from today’s cook-in.

One more ring at the bell and it was another parcel being delivered. We haven’t got any deliveries outstanding so I guess it’s probably from one of our kids. I do have a nice lot of cards and pressies to open tomorrow.

I even managed to get the ironing done between callers.

It’s great that you now have the scooter Frank. Stay close to home until you get used to it. It will give you a chance to get out a bit, particularly with spring and summer to look forward to, but we don’t want you turning into a boy racer now ;-)

I got my Sainsbury’s order in today for delivery Thursday. They never seem to have the 6 pint cartons of milk now though I can always get them from Tesco’s.

I am concerned that we haven’t heard from Gill at all for several days. I am sure life is difficult at the moment with Sandra’s problems and Gill does seem to succumb to every bug around when she is stressed. It would be good to hear that she is OK.

Well, I had better start cooking. I’m doing a sort of throw-it-all-in bolognese tonight. I started with some mince and so far have added a tin of chopped tomatoes, a bit of onion, garlic paste, tomato purée, mixed herbs, a beef stockpot and a good slurp of OH’s favourite red wine (ssh, don’t tell him; he won’t notice the level in the bottle has gone down a bit). For some reason I can’t eat pasta. My brother couldn’t either. I can eat noodles though so we’ll have it with noodles.

I had a better night last night so I am wishing all of us a good sleep tonight.

Lovely you have the scooter now Frank now you just need soem nice warm weather to be able to give it outing around the close to start with I think not too fasr away from home and don't forget to take your phone with you when you go just incase you get into difficulties and need recueing.

Waiting for the delivery. Three subs two ok and one not sure about. That one is chicken frankgurters which we have never had before but oh said to try them. The one item I wanted for tonight chinese they were out of stock of so I have had to have sweet and sour chicken in a sauce instead of the battered chicken pieces with sauce you dip into.

Mandy I have found the zips and they are in the washing machine as I type as they smelt a bit musty being in the drawer for years and years.

Frank Report 23 Feb 2021 11:44

Good morning FAIR MAIDENS. lol lol

Yes the scooter arrived yesterday. The chap drove it into the garage and showed me how things operated and how to dismantle it to get it into the car/boot. I was tempted to go for a spin, but as I wasn't feeling that good, I decided not to chance it.

After my fall last Saturday week, and the Wednesday in hospital, I have been trying to be careful and not to go out. My back is still very painful, and I'm not getting a lot of sleep. Last night I went to bed around 9.30 pm. Was still awake at 2.30 am. I got up and sat in the lounge, reading until 4,30. Went back to bed, but couldn't get comfortable enough to sleep. Every time I turned over I had pain in my back. By 5.45 I gave up, and got up. Sat reading again with my COT.

Ros got up around 9.00 am. She said "You didn't have a very good night did you ??"
She has gone out with Carolyn to go to Tesco and may be the Garden Centre.

In the Front lawn we have a PALM TYPE TREE. She wants to clear around the base of it, put down a plastic membrane, and put large pebbles around the base. So I expect she will be looking at prices at the garden centre. I told her to let Harvey get the pebbles, as he can get them from his suppliers, at TRADE PRICE.

It's a lovely day out there today, even if it's a bit windy. It's a nice clear day with plenty of sunshine. I thought about going out on the scooter, BUT she has left no room for me to get the scooter passed the car. She's parked it SLAP BANG in the middle of the drive

Lovely photo's of the bonnet/bobble hat and pussies. When I see beautiful cats like that, it makes me want to get another. But I don't think it would be right at my age, even though I think Harvey would take it if it didn't fit into our life style.

I'm going to see if I can get FORTY WINKS, while everywhere is nice and quiet.

Pork hock, mushy peas and mash for tonights dinner. I haven;t had that for months and months.

Stay safe everyone. xxxx

Good morning after our lovely blue sky and sun yesterday we have windy wet and grey today. So no walks today. It doesn’t seem possible I have been here a week already.
