Done the ironing and put all the overwintering plants and cuttings outside for some air and help them harden off. Just having a drink and then I’m going to do an hour or so in the garden.

Gill, please wish Sandra a happy birthday for tomorrow. Tell her Amy the orang-utan is still doing well but apparently is a bit of a grumpy old lady now.

Morning Anng and all,

Not so bright here this morning and oh tells me this is the last day of the good weather we have been having. Still its been a month at least.

Nice to see you pop in Gill and will you wish Sandra a Happy Birthday for me for tomorrow when you hear from her please. Hope hubbys shoulder soon get better as I know he always likes to be doing something and he's probably thinking of what he could have gotten done int he garden with this weather we have been having. There's plenty of time to do the things you want so get him to take it easy.

My big wipe down today so I shan'nt be in the garden all day.

Good morning AnnG and all

You were on here early again AnnG. I was also up at 4.30 am but I am being strict with myself and not going online before 7.30. I think it wakes me up so much that I can’t get back to sleep.

Good to see you are OK Gill and I echo what Ann has said about your OH and workmen.

OH is out for his walk at the moment. It’s dull out and not very warm but the sun is trying to break through. I haven't got any plans for the day. It’ll just be whatever I feel like doing.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Apr 2021 05:52

good to see you Gill, but if you work so hard you have no time to 'play' you will end up not being able to do anything as well. Do try and take time out for an hour or so.

Workmen deciding they don't want the job and not coming back with the quote make me really mad. If they don't want the work why don't they say so? I hope you can eventually find somebody to do it.

what about the gas boiler is that fitted, have you got hot water now?
I assume you don't mean your OH ended up in hospital a second time? I am sure it is just that you have forgotten that we knew about his shoulder. Anyway I am pleased to hear that he is able to return to work, as long as he doesn't overdo it and hurt the shoulder again.
and what about Sandra? Is she in he new home now with furniture sorted.
At least the weather has let you get out in the garden. Is the hedge all cleared now?

Gillx Report 26 Apr 2021 23:13

Hi all, just popping in before I go to bed. I've been really busy in the garden this past week with OH not being able to do anything. He ended up in hospital with a sore shoulder, the doctor said he'd ripped his muscles in his shoulder and back so he's been on strong painkillers all week. He said he feels okay now so we think he might of just pulled a muscle rather than it tearing, so he's going back to work on Saturday when he sick note runs out. I said it was a bit to early but he's so bored and needs to do something, so he decided to go back to work. At least he doesn't do any heavy lifting at work so hopefully he'll be okay, time will tell whether he should of taken more time off or not.

It said on the news there's a super moon tonight, but it's to cloudy to see. This always seems to happen to us when there's something to see in the night sky :-(

I've had yet another workman here today to do a quote for the removal of the chimney all I need now is for him to email me the quote and a date he can start. I've had that many workmen here saying they'll do a quote then we don't hear from them again I'm beginning to think we're never going to get the job done, so I really hope the fella who came today doesn't let us down like everyone else.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up with the posts, I hope everyone is okay. Off to bed now as I'm shattered, I hope everyone has a good night's sleep.

WE have a tv in the kitchen diner where I watch it in the evening as we don't use the lounge, one in the bedroom and one in his study. The old one is up the caravan.

Hope you get more sleep tonight girls and feel better for it in the morning.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Apr 2021 21:29

So Vera and Anng have had a nice walk today. Perhaps it will make you sleep better tonight. I hope so.

Still not done all my pots but nearly there. I did wash loads of pots this afternoon as I want to put some of the patio dahlias in small ones as there was so many in the big pot they came out of. I have 10 in 3 inch pots and there's more to go in bigger ones.

Swept out the bantams and when I put their scratch tray back in they jumped in it and scratched like anything turfing all the soil out all over my nice clean floor.

Oh has got the old zero turn mower out of the shed over the west wall and has it up on the ramp. I did'nt think it would fit and it does overhang the ramp a bit and the wheels are only just on it. He has'nt used it for years and it has a hole in the exhust pipe and he looked online for one and it was £160 for a Feris one (American firm) but he did find a rusty one somewhere that was £100 second hand!! He thinks he may be able to fix it to save money. He pulled it up onto the ramp with the digger verrrrryyyy sloooowwwly..... Digger is working fine now after its averhaul.

He also dug out the Gunera which has died this winter. I am quite glad its gone really as it was behind my pond and I could'nt get to my garden that side. Robby is nesting somewhere down there too and he cut back the big rose so he could get through with the mower and digger. Remember last year the rose knocked his seat off the mower? and he landed on the grass? I was going to cut it back and then we saw Robby going in it so it did'nt get cut when it should have.

We have 4 tvs, there's one in the lounge, one in each of 2 of the bedrooms and one in the study which isn't on SKY. SKY costs us a whopping £100 a month with OH's SKY Sports and BT Sports, but he is still earning so it's a treat for him.. I would like the one in here in the kitchen, but there's not really room and, as you know I don't like spending much time in there! lol.

I'm off to bed now.......course in the morning means another quite early start!

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2021 19:54

Glad you got a walk in Vera nice to be out in the sunshine.

I have four TVs although one in the spare bedroom is not on the TiVo box just comes off the aerial. There is one in the lounge, one in the kitchen and one in my office. That was where T watched his sport and now it is there for Joe when he comes.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 26 Apr 2021 19:01

I'm glad your Sky man was early Ann. I hate it when you are waiting all morning for someone to arrive and they turn up at lunchtime. You are having an expensive time of it this month. We only have 2 TVs, a very old one in the conservatory which only ever goes on for the news if we are having a lunchtime snack out there, and an oldish one in the lounge. I know most people have bedroom and kitchen ones these days but I have never wanted them. Now, if I couldn't have books all over the house I would be unhappy. I do watch some TV but books are really my thing. I've got 3 on the go at the moment, a medieval murder mystery, a biography of Maggie Smith and I'm re-reading Northanger Abbey (my least favourite of Jane Austen's books).

I did go for a short walk this afternoon. It was quite cold but I wrapped up well and it was nice and sunny so I enjoyed it.

It's good your dressing got changed and the wound is looking good AnnG.

I agree it would be good if Gill could just pop in.

OH decided he would sort our meal tonight so he is doing his favourite bubble and squeak. As there were no leftovers he will have to do it from scratch. Unfortunately I know I will be spring cleaning the kitchen when he has finished :-|

Our neighbour knocked with our Monday treat at around 4 pm. It was lemon drizzle cupcakes today and they went down very nicely with a cup of tea.

OH has just called that dinner will be no more than 5 minutes so I had better get myself downstairs. Have a good evening and sleep well everyone.

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2021 18:42

I just crept in ahead of you Annx when will you shop for TVs will you buy them on line? I think you would find Curry’s not too busy if you went there. With TVs I like to look at them.

Annx Report 26 Apr 2021 18:37

Evening All,

I had a bad night as well Vera and was still awake at 3.30am. I had to be up at 7.00am for the SKY man so we were glad it wasn't very cold with all the windows open and he rang and arrived at 8.15am which was good too. He fitted a new box for us plus a booster too. I couldn't believe how big the new router was, but the booster is nearly as big, so more gadgets on my already crowded desk space! The big lounge tv still won't work and he tried our other tvs on the new box without their mini boxes and they were fine so it would seem we need a new lounge tv. Looking at the bedroom tvs and their age we might renew those as well. The second bedroom could have a bigger one on the wall and I would like a hinged wall bracket for the one in the second bedroom so the minibox could be attached to the back of it and get rid of the wires on show. What with my laptop and a new printer it is getting to be an expensive time, but then we have been nowhere to spend much have we! I have no cues but a big surprise this morning ,,,,,one of the Picco]o courgettes has emerged. Out of a whole packet only 3 Cosmos have grown so that was disappointing.

I had 6 subs with my order yesterday and no lamb shanks for the 3rd time. OH wasn't impressed with CHILLI Mackerel fillets!!! They won't get eaten! I was pleased to receive a bunch of 10 red roses in thanks for being a customer though. :-D :-D

I hope you got your plants finished Mel. I think OH has been lucky not getting any pain with his arm this time, but I noticed he has a small rash on his lower back now. I bet it's insect bites with all the weeding he has been doing.

That's good your friend changed your dressing and said things look ok AnnG. I see you just managed to get an stripdown wash. Not long till the dressing will be off now though.

I feel shattered now after all I did yesterday and the class this afternoon so will be having a very early night. At least I can watch some tv in bed now.

Yes I hope Island is ok and that Gill can be in touch soon.

Joanne got here at 2.30 and fitted my aids and changed my dressing, she said it is healing ok, no infection and she will come and change it again on Friday.nwe had a cup of tea and a chat (loudly) and then went for a walk down round the park through the little wood and back through the next estate, about one and a half miles, lovely and sunny but a cold breeze, we both enjoyed it, nice to walk with somebody for a change.

This morning I potted my cucumber into a large tub and one of the tomatoes into another one both in the greenhouse. Where they will stay hoping the snails stay away T lost a cucumber to a snail last year.

It has been another glorious sunny day although the wind was chilly it was sheltered on the lower patio so I spent 20 minutes out there with a cup of tea at about 4.30 pm then again with my G&T at 6pm.

Vera, no good gardening if you are not in the mood. Because of my stitches I can only do a bit no and again which is frustrating but I think the weather is going to be against me the rest of the week although tomorrow am might be ok.

Its been a beautiful summers day here. There was a bit of wind earlier but this afternoon it dropped and I have been in the garden all afternoon without a coat on.

Done some more plant pots and took my patio Dahlia out of the pot and it had increased so much I have 10 small pots with it in and so far one big pot 2 and a half litre I think. Still got a few to put in bigger pots. Its nice cos it has dark leaves and coral pink stripey flowers. Broken the label so son't know what its called.

Vera just do what youwant to do if your feeling like that. There's always tomorrow. <3

Anng it will be good when that dressing is changed but I expect you've had it done by now.

Wish we would hear from Gill.

It was very dull this morning. The sun is out now but it’s cold. I had to put a coat on when I hung out the washing. I ought to be doing jobs in the garden but just don’t feel in the mood. I need the exercise and fresh air though so I might go for a short walk.

I had a fairly good night though my foot woke me a couple of times. It’s been hurting a bit lately and wakes me if I’m putting any pressure on it while asleep. I think it’s because the bones healed out of alignment and I might just have to put up with it.

I’ve just had a look at the trough where I sowed rocket seeds. The packet said seedlings will appear between 7 and 14 days. 19 days later, not a seedling in sight. Tomatoes look healthy but ought to be a bit bigger by now. At the rate they’re growing we’ll be picking them in November.

There’s plenty of cold roast ham left from yesterday’s dinner so I’ve only got to decide what to have with it tonight, probably salad or chips and beans. A nice easy meal.

good morning Mel and all. I went back to bed Mel, had got up for the loo and looked on here on the way back. dozed and slept a bit until 0810. Then not wanting to get the dressing wet as friend is coming to change it today, I strip washed then washed my hair over the bath. (not easy while i can't stretch too far with my lefy arm but it is okish and my appointment is Saturday so only 5/6 days now.

6 degrees outside but cloudy bright no sun as yet.

Morning Anng and all,

Anopther bright morning today but feeling very cold out there. Arms still a bit sore if I touch it and yesterday shutting the bantams in I leant on it against their house when I took their food out. That hurt.

Slept well but I see one of us was up in the earliy hours. Did'nt you sleep well Anng or did you go back to bed?

With luck I should finish my plants today and getthose out of the way and then I can get back up the border. I have a blue early iris out and I keep meaning to take a picture.

I do wish we would hear from Gill to know whats going on with her new place and if Sandra is in her flat yet. It must be over a week since we've heard anything from her even to let us know how hubby is getting on. Sending love <3.

Love and wishes to Island too and Doggie. Hope alls well with you and yours Island.

Did you see that this April has been the coldest since the late 80s? That will put the heating bills up. And poor Gill with no heating.

Hope you get a better night tonight Vera. We are within half a mile of the Police HQ, NEXT HQ and Everards Brewery Helicopters. They are noisy especially the Police one when it hovers over the motorway behind us but they are much quieter than those big Apaches!!

That's very good your jobs got done AnnG and your leftovers sound very tasty, I could just fancy them.....like a nice buffet! :-)

Mel I bet your fairies will look good after you have painted them. It will protect them from the weather too.
