AnninGlos Report 28 Apr 2021 12:02

Morning Annx Arm is still aching a bit but it is better than it was. It is not the side of the vaccination is is the right arm. I also have sore - like a bruised feeling, in my ears as I am wearing my new aids and the moulds are less giving than the old ones so are very tight in my ears. I may swap back to my others later as I think my ears will need to get used to them gradually.

boundaries are funny things, cause a lot of problems and quarrels. no doubt where ares are here as we are all fenced round with a house either side and a bungalow over the back. But I have checked the deeds anyway (We hold our own deeds). And all is correct.

No courses today? what did you draw with the pastels yesterday and are you now liking them?

Except for Gill and her OH does it mean once Colin has had his second jab we are all jabbed now?

Annx

Annx Report 28 Apr 2021 11:38

Morning All,

I slept well once I managed to nod off after 2.00am so feel much better today as my knee is less achey too.

We have the same weather as you Mandy and it is a bit blowy and chilly with it. Good day for drying washing though. That's good Colin is having his second jab today. I drove OH too so he needn't wait around. Someone stopped him to ask if he was driving as he left.

Gill, when we needed to check ownership of our boundaries with having the field at the bottom of our garden, all I did was phone the building society and ask for a copy from the deeds and they sent us a copy free of charge. Whoever has the deeds (solicitor if not the building society?) should have something. After all how could you buy your bungalow without knowing what land you are purchasing. You could also try googling for old ordnance survey maps of the area from around the time your bungalow was built or later as they may show the original boundaries or hedges that will give you some idea, especially if the woodland is shown. It sounds like some other neighbours were hoping to eventually be able to claim squatters rights on the land they have been using.

If you remember, the chap diagonally opposite from us had a boundary dispute with the builder who built our bungalows when he tried to claim some of his front garden to make a road through at the end of our close to build the last 3 properties, so it's important. Luckily I remembered Keith who used to live there putting a concrete retainer kerb across the middle of his garden to keep his gravel in place and he was able to trace him and get written confirmation from him that he had put it in and not the builder who was trying to say it was the boundary. It was also shown in the deeds but the builder was saying those were wrong! It's good that your OH has little pain now and that the damage doesn't seem as bad as he thought.

I hope the achiness in your arm soon wears off AnnG and it is just the way you lay in bed. I still get twinges in my shoulder since that 2nd jab. I think it is the muscle though as when I press my hands together in front of me a pain shoots from the joint up the side of my neck.

Mel I hope your back is getting better too. We can't have you not able to patrol your estate! Have you got rid of all the vine weevils in your pots now? Have you seen any more baby fish? What a lot we are with all our aches and pains and lack of sleep!

Lunch next and it's breaded Haddock,( mashed pots for OH ) and with leek and shredded cabbage and peas with Hollandaise sauce (packet).

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Apr 2021 11:19

Morning you lot of early risers,

I slept in this morning as its a bit dull out there today and its rained int he night here too and the road is wet but not much on the ground as where the chickens had scratched it still looked pretty dry down there.

Happy Birthday Sandra. please pass on my wishes Gill. YOu must do as the others have said Gill and get in touch with the land registry. They should have the right measurement of your land and as you hav'nt had the property long they should be easy to hand so to speak. It needs to be on your deeds if you have bought the house outright.

One dented egg and two whole ones this morning. I have quite a few this week as I have been going round there earlier than usual.

I think house work is on the cards for today as it is trying to rain here and the sky is grey and not a patch of sunshine. Sounds like Mandy has pinched it all today in the east.

Going to get another cuppa now.

No sun here, it rained overnight which is a good thing for the garden but is just very dull here quite heavy cloud 7 degrees, not really cold but too wet to get out in the garden. So it will have to be indoor jobs. My right arm is aching, not painful just achy I think I must have laid awkwardly as I can only sleep on one side at the moment to protect the stitches.

Yes Gill Vera is more with it than me, I should have warned you to make sure it is a government site. and again I am surprised that the estate agent didn't have the measurements of the garden. Obviously the hedge was obscuring a lot.

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Apr 2021 09:19

Morning all,

Nice and sunny here ,I've just hung some washing out and it's having a good blow as the wind has got up ,its a bit fresh out but should be about 14 degrees today.

Gill was there no measurements from the estate agent ,I thought they usually get the boundary measured.
I thought you had sorted out for the chimney to come down with the other chap as you said you persuaded him to take it all down and not just the chimney stack .
Are they pricing for all the work or are you hoping to do the chimney breast yourselves, some builders won't tackle half a job if you know what I mean just in case there's any come backs .

We're off to get petrol in the car and then on to get eggs from the farm and then out again later for Colin to have his second jab ,if I drive he won't have to wait the quarter of an hour before he can drive .

Good morning

You’re an early bird again this morning AnnG. I had a really good night and hardly woke at all. It’s dull and overcast here and doesn’t look very warm but I haven’t been outside to find out.

Gill, it is important that you know where your boundaries are but if you look at the Land Registry site you’ll see that they say they are not always defined. Check out the site but make sure you are on the official government site. There are others that look official but make hefty charges to help you. If there are any documents available you can usually get them from the Land Registry quite cheaply. We have very recently been able to download a document to do with the ownership of our house and we only had to pay £4 to do it. Good luck with sorting it out.

I’ve been up a while and had 2 mugs of tea. Now I am going to have some brekkie before doing a bit of h/w.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Apr 2021 06:01

good early morning all. slept from 11 until about 5 so can't see me going back to sleep.

Gill it is very important that you fond out where your boundary is a sketch is quite an unusual way to have it defined, your solicitor might be able to help and also the letter or copy of it from the lady you met might help too. What about your next door neighbours? They might know if any land was purchased by your previous owners. Is there no sign of a fence anywhere at all (old posts or anything? When you bought the house was there any sort of survey done? I know it is different if you were not getting a mortgage but surely there should be something in writing to define boundaries.
If you are still in doubt you could try writing to Land Registry in your area. You need to know before any building or anything starts to take place if the land has been sold. If the trees are on your land you need to protect them, if not you need to protect your garden and the trees could be cut down. Dig out all the paperwork that you had when you bought the bungalow and check if the land is mentioned. Do you have the deeds to the bungalow? If so the boundaries should be on there.

Do a search in google for 'Land Registry searches and title deeds on line'.

Gillx Report 27 Apr 2021 23:02

Sorry I forgot I'd already told you all about OH going into hospital. The past week has gone by so quickly I'm losing track of the days. I've been in the garden again today, thankfully the rain that was forecast never happened so I managed to get through quite a bit, although there's lots more clearing to do.

No AnnG the hedge cuttings are still there, although it is booked in to be taken away in a couple of weeks......well, that's if they turn up. We haven't got the boiler in, we want the chimney out first as it has a coal fire in it and we don't want all the coal dust getting into a new boiler, so we still haven't got any running hot water or central heating yet. The workman who came yesterday about removing the chimney text me today to say he'll email me a quote soon, I hope he doesn't take to long as OH wants to go back to work when his sick note runs out at the end of this week. It looks like he just pulled a muscle rather than it tearing as the pain has almost gone so he should be okay by the weekend when he's hoping to go back to work.

We had a black lab come into our back garden today, he came in the other day and we thought he had run away from his owner taking him for a walk, but we found out today it's the neighbour's daughter's dog and is called Milo, he's lovely and very friendly, all he does is run around us wanting us to make a fuss of him then he runs back to the neighbours garden. The garden is in the other street but their back garden comes up to our back garden and because neither of us have fences he runs from one garden to another. He doesn't look very old and like I said he's very friendly.

So we met another neighbour, well her daughter, today, her name is Jane and she's very friendly, she was telling us that the land at the bottom of our gardens has been sold and her mum got a letter about it so if she can find it she's going to make a copy and pass it onto us as we're not sure where our boundaries are. Apparently everyone in the other street have taken some of the land and made it their gardens and they all got letters off the owner's solicitor a couple of years ago. From what Jane was saying the bit that's been sold might only be a strip along the backs of their gardens and not the wooded area at the back of ours. Hopefully she'll find the letter then we'll know more.

We need to know where our boundaries are before we can have a fence put up. At the moment we've only got a sketch with no measurements and because the garden we're connected to has taken some of the land it doesn't match the picture we got off the solicitor. So it may turn out that the work I'm doing on tidying up the bottom of the garden might end up being owned by someone else.

Well, I'm off to bed now, I'm so tired, I think it's all the work I've done outside and the fresh air.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Apr 2021 19:58

Nice to see Franky Boy pop in and sorry you are still not feeling too good. Hope Roos brought soemthing in for dinner tonight so you did'nt have to cook.

When I saw the moon last night it was white and very bright rather than pink. It sometimes shines in the pond.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Apr 2021 19:55

Oh is cooking here too tonight one of his sausage casseroles which are always nice and tasty. He puts tinned toms in and mushrooms, onion and new pots and sometimes peas but I said I did'nt want them tonight.

Only one sub red salmon instead of the boneless kind so it means more work for me and they did'nt have his cherry yogurts the special ones.

Did the wipe down pretty quickly today and did get out in the garden but oh stopped play as he started to put up my plastic greenhouse. Its not strong and I don't think it will last more than this year. We have it tied to the rail onthe decking at the mo. I just can't go up to the potting sheds and the big greenhouse anymore. Can't walk that far with this back. My tom plants are still in the uti room at the mo but they are not very green. Think I may pot them on into bigger pots and keep them in the shed for now.

You had a good go in the garden today Vera. We don't cope wioth a;l the garden like we used to in our younger years. Oh does all the lawns and grass outside the wall and the little top field in front of the old potting sheds. I just potter up the border and inthe orchard and what we call the back garden down towards Prickley Bottom where I used to feed the hedgehogs.

SuffolkVera Report 27 Apr 2021 18:50

After a dull start to the day the sun came out and stayed out till just a short while ago. It wasn't as windy as yesterday either so it seemed much warmer. I spent about two and a half hours in the garden in two sessions with lunch inbetween. The problem is the more I do, the more I see that needs doing. This garden is very small and I'm struggling to keep up with everything, so I don't know how we ever managed to cope with a big plot and I can't imagine how you manage with your acres Mel.

Thanks for the pics of your greenhouse Mandy. You've got plenty there to plant up and it all looks nice and healthy. Your tomato plants look a great deal bigger than mine.

The pics of your garden are nice and colourful too AnnG and the moon pictures are wonderful. Even though I was up in the early hours it didn't cross my mind to look outside. I can be pretty stupid sometimes.

I'm sorry you were poorly last night Ann and hope you are feeling tickety-boo now. It's good your pastel class went better. Are we going to see your work? That was nice to get some red roses from Asda but I bet you would rather they got their act together a bit more and had fewer subs. I wonder why they never seem to have lamb shanks. I've had no problem getting them from both Tesco and Sainsburys. How did your wipe-down go Mel? Did you have many subs?

Sorry you are still not feeling good Frank. I wonder if Ann is right and it's all the different meds together that is upsetting you a bit, though I would have thought your doctor would have considered what you are already taking when he prescribed something else. Hopefully you will feel a bit better tomorrow.

OH is "cooking" again. His "cooking" tonight involves putting cold ham on plates, putting some oven chips in the cooker and sticking some baked beans in the microwave. Not quite up to the standard of Masterchef :-).We would both prefer a ham salad but at the moment I am having to be very careful what I eat and lettuce, tomato and onion can all upset me. I'm OK with rocket but we have run out, peppers are alright too but I prefer them cooked, beetroot and cucumber are OK but I am not supposed to have the seeds of cucumber (I do though). OH could have a lovely big salad but won't do that if I can only have a few little bits and pieces.

He has just bought me a large glass of rose wine so I am going to enjoy that now before he calls me down to eat.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Apr 2021 15:46

It is horrible here cold and grey looks as though it should be raining (which at least would be good for the garden) but it isn’t it is just gloomy and I have lights on.

Annx Report 27 Apr 2021 15:36

Nice to hear from you Frank. Maybe it is your meds making you feel unwell if you now have painkillers for your back in addition to the rest you take. Good idea to rest up with your book today. After a sunny lunchtime it is dull again here. I hope Ros brings something for later so there's no cooking to do! :-D

I forgot all about the pink moon, so it passed me by literally. :-S I have just been asking for a couple of refunds on my Asda order. One sub, Mackerel with Chilli....yuk!! The other was Ham Hock with Leek that the date was up on yesterday. The red roses they sent are looking nice and fresh though.

Thanks for the pics of your seedlings and greenhouse Mandy. They are looking good and you are much tidier than me! I need to have a sort out.

The Pastel class went better this week. I think it was because I used watercolour paper instead of proper pastel paper, far less dust as well. One of the men in the class used the inside of a cereal box last week as he found it better. :-)

I think I will pot up a few more of the self set Pansy seedlings that are growing outside next. My head is spinning with looking at TV options now, but at least prices seem to have come down.

Frank Report 27 Apr 2021 13:13

Afternoon to you all, I thought I had better pop in, as I don't want you worrying. xxx

Nothing sort of day here, Ros went back to the hospital this morning about the poorly tongue, she phoned me to say she has to go back next week. She is shopping with Carolyn, who has a lot of things to go and do, so I don't know when she will be home.

I have emptied the Washing Machine and put everything in the Tumble dryer,(Winter sheets and pillow cases) They should all be dry nowand ready to be put away for a few months.

Apart from that I have been reading my book in the conservatory with a COC. No idea what we will have for dinner tonight. Eos might bring something in with her, when she GETS HOME.

Not feeling that great again today. I have the heating on and a jumper on, as I don't seem to be able to get warm.

Take care all you lovely ladies, spark again soon. xxxx

Annx Report 27 Apr 2021 11:48

Morning All,

I drifted off to sleep last night then woke up half an hour later feeling pretty grim and wobbly. OH sat up with me and we watched a film about a disabled son that vanished without trace till I felt a bit better. I've gradually got back to normal this morning and wonder if it was icecream I had yesterday. I've been ok with Hagen Daaz before, but it was quite a big helping. OH thinks it may have been a bit of stress with the SKY man coming, but I didn't feel concerned about that at all with all the precautions he took.

Nice to hear from you Gill and I think we all know some of those kind of workmen! Hopefully this one will give you a quote. Your OH will have to be careful what he does at work and not undo the healing that's going on with his muscles. Don't overdo it yourself either, you don't both want to be held up with doing things.

You asked about buying TVs AnnG and the first thing I will do is look at the different types online as some were much more costly to run last time I looked (quartz, LED etc) and also look at any feedback. Then yes, we have a big Curry's half mile away on the retail park, so it will be an early morning trip there when there are few people in the store to look at what we have shortlisted. OH needs a new laptop too. He likes the bigger and brighter screen on mine but not the smaller keyboard so he need to actually see some.

Lunch is dinging so will BBL.
