As the nurse pointed out, it was not the first time, I had a Bcc reminded from the back of my neck, that infected too. Both were wounds that had to be covered because clothes would rub. They were thorough this time called a senior practice nurse so she could prescribe antibiotics. Took a swab and checked my temperature asked me if I felt well. I guess they are worried about sepsis.

I missed your post with not sending mine for a while AnnG. It's a pity to have found you have an infection and need antibiotics. I find after a couple of days my tum seems to get used to them so hopefully yours will. You are certainly getting some exercise with the walk! Luckily the drink missed my work as you can't salvage a pastel drawing.

Yes cafes have sprung up in several of the villages and the farm shop here. My OH always says, 'just ask me' when I complain he hasn't done something. It must be a man thing I think, but he just doesn't know how to be proactive and see something needs doing and do it. It doesn't always work when you ask him either. Last night I said to throw out the Asda roses they sent that past it now and were on a table next to the front door. This morning he walked right past them to go and put the bin out ............without them in it. :-S

It's gone very cold again tonight, another early one for me as OH is watching footie.

Yes we have also lost M&Co and Klass all now on line. In Cheltenham we still have John Lewis and, is Monsoon still going. Matalan is still in the out of town shops and, although it is before .november since .i last looked, Tesco and Sainsburys often have what I like.

Oops Ann that was not a good idea, did it miss your work?

Chilli with jacket tonight better go and sort it.

SuffolkVera Report 4 May 2021 18:32

Sorry you have an infection AnnG. I hope the antibiotics work without upsetting your tummy.

It's good that you have got your dental appointment sorted Ann. Fancy spilling your tea.. It must be the day for tea spills as OH was bringing me a mug of tea upstairs and just caught his toe. He kept hold of the mug but he had filled it to the brim so it slopped all over the carpet on the stairs. You are right about the shops. We have next to nothing left in our town now, except endless coffee shops and cafes. Even the bigger towns near us have lost a lot of shops and now Lakeland have closed in Ipswich.

Lots of heavy rain and wind again this afternoon but the sun is out now and I think the wind is dropping a bit. I hope so.

I hope Frank is OK after his fall the other day. It would be good to hear from him and Gill and Island.

I'd better go and start cooking our dinner. It's all prepared and OH could well cook it and I know he's more than wiling to help if I ask but it would be lovely if, just once, he thought of doing it without being asked.

Annx Report 4 May 2021 18:15

Well the sun was shining and my dandelions didn't look at all right so I went up the garden to do some pricking out instead. Before I reached there the rain started again, but not for long. I managed to do the rest of the French Marigolds and 48 Mesembryanthemum. That has only used a quarter of the tray of seedlings so I might see if a couple of friends would like some. I could leave them outside by the front door for them to collect.

Heck, what am I like! I just tipped some of my tea over the pastels I left out to come back to! No using those till tomorrow now,

I managed to book a long overdue dental checkup. I want them to check that little lump I have too. They told me that 2 dentists had left, but my lovely dentist is still there. We have to ring them from the carpark to say we have arrived now and then wait in our car till they ring us to mask up and come in.

I was thinking today how different shopping will be and how many will have gone once I start going again. In recent years we have lost Rackhams, Debenhams, BHS, Bon Marche. Years before we lost British Home Stores and C&A. Where will we buy our clothes? M&S seem uninspiring lately leaving NEXT and Primark.

Better get on and add some items to my Asda order now. It's a big job if you leave it till the last minute.

You don't need more gloom when the weathers like this Ann. We've had no rain this morning just very high winds and sunshine in patches. Now I have said that I am going to wash up the lunch things and go out there and then I suppose it wioll decide to rain.

Could'nt do the washing up before as I had no hot water. Nobody turned it on this morning and what was in the tank I used to wash some more pots while waiting for my delivery.

Annx Report 4 May 2021 14:44

Afternoon All,

It was still blowing like mad this morning here but I managed to sleep well and I didn't notice any damage as I went to look at the greenhouse. Some years the wind has shaken things off the shelves in there and they've fallen on plants but it looked ok. We've had a few heavy showers and the wind keeps getting up but it's raining again now..

What a shame you have lost some plants Mandy and just as you had got them pricked out as well. I think I would be done in clearing everything up too but at least you didn't lose everything and will be able to move the greenhouse to where you had it before.

I hope they can remove your stitches today AnnG so you won't need to go back again for them to do it. Yes it must be hard at first when you have recently lost your other half too. I expect with time you will start to sleep better, especially as you start to be able to socialise more.

Vera, good luck with your drinks and at least you have the luxury of the Ambrosia to look forward to this time.

We've had scam calls yesterday and today, both without any accent so maybe they are realising less of us are answering those. One was our internet 'problems' and the last was the expiry of our non existent washing machine cover! We also had an irishman call at the door about cleaning the drive.

I need to get on with today's pastel picture now........a field of dandelions with a gloomy sky!

I managed to save most of the plants it was just the little ones I pricked out the other day they shot all over the place so no chance of saving them .
Colin had screwed it down to the slabs but it pulled them out it was so gusty,we think we'll clear everything out and turn it round so the fence shelters it ,thats how I usually have it but we thought we'd turn it this year.for a change .

Still gusty and raining .

Vera seems a waste to have the custard but you need some thing inside if only for a little while.

Wonder how Frank is hope we hear from him and hope we hear from Gill too .

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 4 May 2021 11:12

Poor you Mandy. Have you managed to rescue most of the plants? It’s so disheartening when that sort of thing happens. Our little garden doesn’t have room for a proper greenhouse so when we moved here we bought one of those plastic ones just for overwintering some geraniums and protecting a few cuttings. It’s up the side of the garage with the bins and OH had anchored the base very firmly to the concrete path where it stands so I knew it wouldn’t move. I thought I had better check it and found that a large folding fruit cage had blown from its normal position against the fence and was lying across the front of the plastic house. Luckily it doesn’t seem to have damaged it.

It’s blowing a real hooley out there at the moment and isn’t supposed to ease off till this evening.

I’ve been through my paperwork from the hospital and the clear liquids list includes all the usual stuff such as drinks made with Bovril, juice, squash etc. but as I said before it includes milk and for some reason Ambrosia Custard :-S. Not any old custard, but specifically Ambrosia. What’s that all about then? It’s hardly a clear liquid. I do have some in the cupboard and am now deciding whether to enjoy a bowlful tomorrow when OH has his lunch or whether it’s a waste of money as I know it won’t - how shall I put it? - stay with me for long.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 May 2021 10:38

O Mandy what a nasty job you have picking up all your little plants. Did it blow over on its side? Oh found a little split on mine and stuck some tape over it. Trouble with mine is the poly cover has a 3 inch gap at the bottom so the sind gets inside. The top bar is so thin it has bent down but I dare not open it up to straighten it. Its wide and not very deep mine and oh has'nt put the shelves up only across the top and falling down so I can get my 4 tom plants in it. Its only big enough for the 4 plants.

Washing blowing nicely on the line and about to put another load in.

Delivery is going to be late today as its arriving about lunch time.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 4 May 2021 09:49

Oh dear Mandy. What a shame. Could you save any of your plants. My plastic tomato house is fine despite gusts of wind but it is tucked into a sheltered corner.

Mel was your plastic house ok?

Vera, the wind here is forecast to ease a bit this afternoon. My appointment is not until 2.50 so I am hoping it will be ok.
Since T went into hospital my sleep pattern is not good. I wake around three or four, go back to sleep unto about 5.30 and then either doze or get up. I did go back to bed for a doze after writing on here but my back is uncomfortable too so that does not help.

Morning all,

Very windy here my poor greenhouse went over and all the trays on the shelf went down what a mess we have cleared some up and anchored the greenhouse to a hanging bracket for now but it will have to wait until the wind has died down a bit .

Hope all goes well today with having your stitches out AnnG .

Oh Vera I had to smile at you having the wine :-D

Ann another lovely picture i can see why OH loved it .

Oh I feel worn out already with sorting this greenhouse out think I'll get a coffee and have a sit before I tackle some jobs .

SuffolkVera Report 4 May 2021 08:11

Morning all

It’s still very windy here and everywhere is very wet but it is not raining at the moment.

You are up and about early these days AnnG. I can understand that you don’t want to interrupt your friend’s work but I think you might need a lift to get your stitches out. You will be exhausted if you try to walk far against this wind. As to drinks tomorrow I’ll stick to water, squash, tea or coffee. In the past I’ve had to have my tea and coffee black but apparently I can have milk with it this time. I am going to read my pages of instructions through again today and make sure I’ve got it right.

I thought it would be a bad night with the noise of the wind and the security lights at our house and our neighbours going on and off but I slept like a log from midnight to 6 am, then I just lay there day dreaming till 7. Wish I could sleep like that every day.

I haven’t got any plans for today. I’m not in the mood for h/w and it’s not the weather for gardening but I expect I’ll find something to do. Have a good day everyone whatever you’re doing.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 May 2021 08:04

Morning Anng and all,

Good luck with your stitches today and I hope they have healed enough for you to be able to have them out. May have been the wind taking the internet down yesterday or jus tthe gremlins in the works.

Bit of sun and then cloudy again this morning and the winds still up quite a bit. Big wipe down day and I have one sub which is my Maldon Sea Salt Flakes and they have sent Saxa fine sea salt instead.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 4 May 2021 05:42

Good early morning walk about.
Yes Vera Today (Tuesday) is the day the stitches should come out. Sometimes they decide they should stay in for a bit longer so it is wait and see. I am avoiding driving as that might pull the stitches (the wound is vertical down my upper back) and unfortunately my neighbour who has been so kind throughout the lockdowns etc and who usually takes me has planned to be away this afternoon so I either have to walk (about a miler) or catch the bus which will get me there very early. If it is raining I can ring the friend who has been doing my dressings but she works from home and would need to take time out of work. She would do as she offered but I will try and avoid that. Nothing is ever simple when you are on your own I have discovered.

I did think, clear liquid Vera, Hmm I would be ok for my usual G&T then. (joking of course) What will you drink?

Mel the wind was taking the internet out I guess. Mine went once yesterday early morning but was ok the rest of the day. I made 7 cards yesterday which I was pleased about as I have not been able to settle to making them since T died.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 May 2021 23:56

Go steady onthe wine Vera it may affect the treatment. I had to laugh.

Our internet has been out twice tonight so I am going to shut day now and get ready for bed. I seem to have been at the cooker all day today and not been doing anything in the garden.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 3 May 2021 21:47

Is it tomorrow afternoon that the stitches come out AnnG? If so, I hope it goes well and you are more comfortable after it.

It started raining here about 4 pm and has been coming down pretty heavily ever since. It will certainly do the garden good but I wish the wind would drop a bit. I don’t think the forecast for tomorrow is much better.

I had wondered if you would be awake in the early hours if you go to bed so early Ann but we’re all different and need different amounts of sleep. OH generally comes to bed about 11.30 and gets up about 7.30 am but he sleeps all night. I usually settle down around 11 but don’t always sleep very well. I never seem to have a lie in either and am normally up by 8.

I had a thought about my “clear liquids only” day on Wednesday. Wine is a clear liquid isn’t it? I could have a few glasses of that. If I get a little merry I won’t worry about what’s happening ;-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 3 May 2021 21:08

It rained heavily almost all day here. In fact still raining so I gave the greenhouse a miss.

The dressings finally arrived and friend came and did the dressing but they are still not as big as we need so she has used three so hope it stays just until tomorrow afternoon.
Annx how do you sleep going to bed this early?

Annx

Annx Report 3 May 2021 20:37

Yes, with OH not going to matches on Saturdays at the moment, I don't even know when the weekends are! lol. :-) I hope your Amazon delivery has arrived with your dressings AnnG. Good idea to try bigger ones and it might be easier to reach and keep them pressed on in place.

You sound like me Mel! I've repainted the faces on Christmas tree fairies before as they weren't very well done. OH hates them on Christmas trees so we have stars instead now.

It's raining and blowing so hard in gusts now I've just been and added water to the front wall pots to weight them down more. Some we had a few years ago that had bushy, trailing plants and needed watering blew down in the wind and smashed.

Early start for the pastel class in the morning so I'm off to bed now, OH has already gone. Hope we all get a good sleep and hear from Frank and Island soon.
