My husband grandmother, who was Italian and lived on a vineyard in Italy, on my first visit after we were married took me to see her animals. There were chickens and rabbits. She showed me the baby rabbits which were only a couple of days old, then she showed me older bunnies. She did not speak English and I did not speak Italian so when she indicated for me to choose a bunny I naively thought it was for me to hold and stroke. I choose one but she looked at it as so to say it was scrawny and then expertly killed him, right there in front of me. He was dinner. |

Muffy, when I was a child we kept chickens, at that time I wasn't veggie, but we only had chicken at Christmas, and it was a frozen one !....when we moved and couldn't take them my mum made the milkman who took them promise they would never be killed. |
