Flat roof repairs

	morning Gwyn Steve used a flexible paint on our flat roof mind you it i concrete to start with, seems to of stopped the leaking. Steve has mentioned coming down to Hastings in Summer if thats ok. d xx

	If you've got Gulls, if the sheets are sealed with mastic of some type, there is a strong possibility that the flying rats will peck away at it and the roof will end up leaking. :(

	Waiting for written quotes now ....and for the seagulls to hatch their eggs, ..Lol found when one chap went up to view the roof and got screeched at by the parents and 'relatives' which they summoned by their calls ! Gwyn

	sorry Gwyn, but THIS roof was supposed to be special.......you know that ordinary felt reacts to heat and the sunlight? well the theory was to layer the felt with gravel and the rain puddles would collect and keep the suns rays away from the felt.......... now I didnt know that!!LOL this roof was installed over three days, I think........the owner was confident that they would make a good job of it but the film crew guy had his doubts......and was right!! 	That's right Bob.... Cheer me some more ! The damage is on the extreme outside edge of the building, not where the flat roof joins the main building, so hopefully there will have been little or no damage to structural woodwork. Will have to wait and see......... Gwyn

	There was a episode of a house builder that had a german firm to do a flat roof.............infallible it was supposed to be!! what happened? it rained and the roof leaked.... .to make it worse to repair it, the WHOLE of the main roof would have to come off before they could get to the bit that leaked!! 	Thank you for your views. We have no plans to move, so will have to judge the extra cost against the probability of the roof out-lasting us then! We have someone coming round to assess this week, but I wanted to find out a bit more about the system before then. We noticed a crack in the old felt, where the horizontal part meets the vertical edging, so it needs doing fairly soon. Gwyn

	don't know about the layer system, I would re- roof the whole lot depending on size and where the leaks are. But as you are moving mmm lack of knowledge on 1 system would make me say felt over. After saying that have heard back from someone and yes you can patch

	Has anyone tried the repair system where layers of polyester laminate are bonded onto the roof? We need a repair on a kitchen extension, - done before we moved here, and wondered about the merits of this method over the usual 'felt' layers. Anyone any experience of this, please, - good or bad. Gwyn
