75 or 76 was it Jennifer? I remember they changed our working day to early mornings whilst I was under training for the RAF.

Yes we do have air con, I could not live without it, however that has its problems, if I am working outside in the heat and perspiring heavily, if I have to go to operations (frequently) they have the a/c set at about 20, so it is like walking into a freezer, I have a streaming cold at the moment due to that.

Oh, Keith, do you have air - con? or do you just have to put up with it? The one thing about English heat is that you usually have a breeze as well, or a tree to shelter under.
We have a canal narrow boat and though it is lovely to be out and about on it in this weather, we always try and moor under a tree.

I think I would be wilting away in your heat. My worst summer was back in the 70's when we had weeks of heat and I was working as a midwife in a very old hospital. Staff and patients found it very difficult.

Hi Jennifer, its not been too bad so far, 43 is the highest actual temp I have seen so far this year. BUT with the prevailing wind direction being off the sea, it is usually cooler (37-40) but more humid so feels worse.
Current temp is 36, but with humidity of 53% it actually feels like 44.
When the wind blows from the desert/mountains, it is hotter (seen 50.2) but not so humid. It is often the case that in the evening the wind changes direction so it is blowing from the desert and the temperature goes up. 39 at midnight the other night, but a max of only 33 during daylight!

Jean I did wonder if it was a Quaker name, she was well over 80 at the time of the 1880 census.

Hi Keith, nice to hear from you! It is very hot here today, difficult to sleep, don't know how you put up with desert temperatures.

Being England it will probably be cold tomorrow,

Jennifer
