What a load of rubbish they are.

Yes i've read of how they came to be named and do think it's apt but I just imagine them to look like Sonic the Hedge Hog,the kids probably think they're cool.

The one eye is given as 'camera lets Wenlock record'.....

I think they look horrible. I love the names but nothing stands out about them. Blink & you cant remember anything distinguishing about them.

Do any of you know why they chose the 2 names for them?
Wenlock was chosen because the Modern Olympic games were first thought of by Baron Pierre de Coubertin after he had visited an event being held at a place called Much Wenlock. This is just 10 mins from where I live.
Mandaville was chosen because at Stoke Mandaville was where the 1st Paralympic games was held.

I think the choice of names is very apt, and they are quite endearing.

Had they been designed by a group of 5 to 11 year olds, produced and marketed by 11 to 18 year olds then I would love them, as a symbol of the athletes and entrepenneurs (sp) of tomorrow... but not when you know they were commissioned and designed etc by professionals... what a travesty!

My personal opinion is that it would have been better to get Blue Peter, schools, and Ceebeebies involved, so that children were ACTIVELY included in the production, design, etc... rather than having it condescendingly targeted at them.

Oh well, what do I know?

I think I might be in a minority here but I liked them.

I didn't like the life size costumes they had at the launch but I liked the cartoon and the fact that children will be able to add to their story.

We live in a digital world and these reflect this. Lets hope they make lots of money through the merchandise.
