Hi everyone, Does GR send an email to people who have had a family tree on GR, but have discontinued membership? I have written to a few people who have quite a few exact matches to my tree, but after a couple of months, have not heard anything back from them.
Cheers Terry

If the people concerned haven't changed their email address and had opted for being informed of any contact by other members then they will still receive an email from Genes telling them they have a message.

However if they have changed their email address and not informed Genes then they won't be able to be contacted.

Hi again Daff, Please don't think I was complaining, I realize there a a lot of reasons for non reply, my question was just a general question, perhaps they are not as"addicted to geneaology" as I am LOL.
Cheers Terry

Just to add to that:-

There is no concept of a 'discontinued' membership as far as GR is concerned. You can only become 'discontinued' if you remove your details from the site.

Neither is it possible to elect not to receive emails from other members. You can only elect not to received auto generated emails from GR such as HotMatches and newsletters etc.

Check your sent messages to see if your message has been read. If so then you know the member is at least logging in to the site, and it might be worth sending a follow up message.

Unfortunately you are not alone. I have some 20 unopened messages going back to the beginning of this year alone and a further 10 or so opened ones which remain unanswered.
