Pigeons do they hop?

The pigeons in my garden are too ruddy fat to hop. I'd like to know why they're so fat, when the ones in the town are normal size. The only time the males hop is when there are females about and they seem to hop on an off the poor things everyday from January onwards, after doing their funny little bowing rituals. At least they keep themselves to themselves though, whereas the magpies are constantly hunting around my garden for the nests of blackbirds and thrushes to plunder eggs and chicks and I hate the racket they make too. |

I've also still got the squirrels, and have taken the bird food in, because they are so greedy, and want to take it all. |

Noooo Helen, Hayley's answer would be, 'no, they fall when hit by opening windows!' |

We used to have three b****y great big fat Woodies that came into our garden. They fought amongst themselves, and their favourite occupation was dive bombing onto me Clematis, taking the heads off. Nearly sent for a fully booted and spurred Eldrick. |

They like doing that on the cars. OH is forever running out with a bucket and shammy to clean it off. |

They do when they land on the top of a patio heater or a barbecue. |
